Breaking: House Votes 45-25 to Strike Down Driverís License Law (NM-banning DL's for illegals)
The Albuquerque Journal ^ | February 8, 2012 | Dan Boyd

After more than three hours of debate, the House of Representatives has voted to overturn the controversial state law that allows foreign nationals to obtain New Mexico driver’s licenses, regardless of whether they are in the country legally.

The vote was 45-25, which is an improvement from 42-28 last year. Next up, the NM state Senate where it will likely die a quick death (as it did last year) due to fierce opposition from controlling Dems. Though the NM House is also controlled by Democrats, I suspect that more than one voted for repeal knowing that they would be covered by the Senate killing the bill. The 30-day legislative session ends next Thursday at noon.

I really hope that the Dems in the Senate understand that there are many voters fed up with their refusal to pass this bill.

I know a lot of people that are Dems that have said they will refuse to vote for Dems that voted against this bill. Hopefully many feel this way!

I wonder where the assigned red and blue colors came in to place.

Red would be more appropriate for the libturds.

The Orwellian newsspeak color scheme is deliberate propaganda on the part of the media to disassociate their beloved Democrat party from the color of its ideology. The GOP wasn’t labelled “Red” (the party of domestic and international leftism/fascism/totalitarianism) until the 2000 election night. There’s only one major party that is Commie Red, and it ain’t the GOP (yet). The GOP should’ve repudiated that label immediately. Blue is the color of international Conservatism. Time to take it back.

We should just start using the terms they way they had been; the Red states (maybe using the capital “R” will better signify the Bolshevism?) will be the socialist ones, and the blue states are the American ones.

We don’t have to speak newsspeak, and hopefully it will spread.

I hope so. Dave Leip’s website doesn’t use the newsspeak colors (if only because he began his site prior to the switcheroo in Nov. 2000... and because he wasn’t about to embark on the arduous process of rewriting all his maps).

When Gov. Reagan pounded sand up Jimmy Carter’s posterior in 1980 his victory map was a sea of blue:

http://uselectionatlas.org/RESULTS/national.php?year=1980

By the time he pounded even more up the moron Mondale’s backside in 1984 the media had somehow decided that blue was more soothing to the left-wing, what few of them there were that year:

http://uspoliticsguide.com/US-Politics-Directory/Historical-Presidential-Election-Results/1984-Presidential-Election-Results.php

More arbitrary and disgraceful behavior by the liars and losers in the press. But then we are used to that, aren’t we?

You should see the pathetic, whining comments under the Governor’s announcement of this on her Facebook page.

So many bleeding heart liberals whining that people who want this practice stopped are racist, xenophobic and prejudiced. Then the old sop is dragged out about how “all the illegals come here to do work Americans won’t do” and “all they want is a better life because they can’t feed their families and they live in fear of the drug cartels”.

So many people posted comments saying how great it is that there’s been even a little victory and that they don’t plan to vote for legislators that vote against repealing this bill - so that’s great. Now they just have to stick with it and hopefully more of them will go to the polls than the idiots making the above comments.

In Oregon, we gave illegals driver’s licenses in the ‘90s.

After 9/11, because everybody and his brother were charging illegals bucks to bring them here from all over the country to obtain what were purported to be legal licenses and thus legal “papers”, the legal residents of Oregon’s driver’s licenses were considered to be suspect, and a national security risk.

That changed quickly.

I hope that illegals are not made legal in NM.

Here is a reply I made to a member via FReep mail:

Then-Governor Bill Richardson signed a law in 2003 that gives driver’s licenses to anyone, including legal or illegal immigrants, if they show a NM residence. When that happened illegals from all over the country showed up, registered at a phony address and were handed a license.

The mainstream AP did a story last month that shows that literally hundreds if not thousands of illegals were using one or two fraudulent addresses (like a smokeshop in ABQ) to get a DL. The fraud for these licenses dwarfs any voter fraud. So far an estimated 83,000 licenses have been issued to illegals (the total may be closer to 88,000 to 90,000).

Here’s a personal example of how bad the license for illegals program is:

A friend of mine manages a hotel in New Jersey. His maintenance person asked for a week off and when he returned this man, in his extremely broken English explained to my friend Dave that he had gone to NM to get a driver’s license!

Dave asked why he didn’t just get one in NJ. He stated that the social security number he’d used to get his job was not really his and that he was in fact, illegal! Now my friend is flabbergasted that he’s mistakenly hired an illegal immigrant, but more upset that this man has a driver’s license.

As Dave told me, the man cannot read English and speaks it with great difficulty. He said the idea of this man on the highway in a car scares the heck out of him!

Of course, now this man does not have his job with my friend. I asked Dave why the man stated that he was illegal and his only explanation was that the guy was so excited over his NM driver’s license that the truth came tumbling out.

Turns out that the man had paid some company to drive him out here on a bus with a bunch of other illegals and they all got licenses here in NM over the course of 2 days and then went back.

The Immigration Reform Control Act [IRCA] of 1986 makes it a CRIME for the employer NOT to notify the authorities [once the illegal status is known].

While he could possibly be found NOT to be liable for prosecution PRIOR to knowing the man is illegal - he IS NOW liable for knowingly employing an illegal.

If ICE raids his place - he will be in deep kimchi. Better he drop a dime on his employee [the Feds might decline to prosecute your friend], or get rid of the employee all together ...

As long as the backbone special interests of both Parties have a vested interest in making it easier for illegals, the effort to minimize illegal immigration is an uphill climb.

The US Chamber of Commerce is a huge lobbyist for cheap labor meaning lax border security and wanting amnesty. Illegals would stay home if not for someone giving them a job.

The penalty for those who hire illegals should be a felony, just it is for anyone who makes a copy of one of Hollywood’s $5 DVDs. It isn’t a felony for employers because they and their lobbyists own Congress, and it is a felony for DVDs because Hollywood owns Congress.

If we the people had the right to petition for a binding referendum on this discussion, it would sidestep the influence buyers to our corrupt legislatures. Then the SCOTUS would have their say.
