But, and please understand I'm doing this for your own good, the source is not accurate, nor is this a real issue.

Rick Santorum was a US Senator. He brought his family to the DC area.

NOTHING WRONG WITH THAT.

Now, think of it this way. People who imagine their Senators and Representatives lose their legal residence in their home states when they attend Congress in DC, even if they bring their families with them, are MENTALLY UNBALANCED and STUPID.

Now don't take that personally, but that's the way it is.

Yawn.

Yawn?

Could be a lot more than that.

Robert Wexler (D-Florida), now thankfully an ex-congressman, lives in VA, pays real estate taxes in VA, his children went to school in VA and even claimed a Homestead real estate tax rebate available only to legal residents of the state. He claimed he lived in his Florida district with his mother-in-law in her one bedroom apartment in a senior community limited to those over 55. Think that was a yawn.

How about Eliot Engel (D-NY) with just about the exact same story. Lives in VA with his wife and kids who are schooled in VA and he claimed a Homestead Real Estate Tax Rebate as a legal full-time resident. Yet he claims he lives with his mother or mother-in-law who resides in his district in NY. Still think this is a yawn.

Rick hasn't been in Congress in years. Why is he putting himself in a position where he could possibly charged with fraud?

I assumed the poster had put the (2004) hit piece on it. The bottom of a lot of barrells have been scrapped in the last few months. Of course all my vitriol directed at Paul and Romney is certainly justified. But I have not attacked the Conservatives in the race,

Rick Santorum has backtracked from his 2008 endorsement of Mitt Romney by saying he was for “anyone but McCain.” But in this 2008 interview with Laura Ingraham Santorum praised Romney at great length — contradicting some of what he says today. In the interview, Santorum calls Romney a “true conservative” and says he “is someone we can trust.” http://www.buzzfeed.com/andrewkaczynski/seven-minutes-of-rick-santorum-talking-about-how-g

Yep. Title updated.

Thanks.

This was the same hit piece KDKA ran locally prior to Senator Santorum losing the election to Casey. Casey ran under his Father's name as a devout right to life Catholic. When Casey got into office he voted left of Pelosi and is now one of Obama's go to guys.

I can't believe someone is bringing this up again. It was BS then like it is now. However, then Senator Santorum had no chance to counter it.

Homestead real estate tax rebate ~ in Virginia.

Wexler made too much money to qualify, and he wasn't sufficiently handicapped anyway.

I think someone must have confounded the property tax adjustment law here with a homestead tax rebate. What happens is when property values go up the property tax is reduced so that people don't pay more than they did before. It works the other way too. As property values fell during the Great Obama Recession, property tax rates were increased. This is a legislatively mandated process.

I think Wexler's problem was in not maintaining a proper domicile in Florida ~ a rusty trailer in a decrepit trailer park would have done it.

He only cost them $7600/kid. Had he schooled them in PA public schools their teachers unions would probably have extracted more of the taxpayers loot than that.

Okay. Well, let me try and explain this so even you can understand...

That link was to a blog that featured a lot more issues than just the residency one. Clear on that?

I stated that apparently the residency issue was the one that brought him down - (according to the blog, with the help of local powerful dems, a few powerful local newspapers, yada yada... I mean they went crazy over it, petitions, hearings, the usual dem parade). Clear on that?

I was stating it the issue that apparently the locals agreed brought him down... I didn't say a single word about whether it was a valid issue, an accurate or truthful issue, it was the issue that, according to the blog, and a lot of the newspapers' post-election analyses, brought Sanctimonium down. Clear on that?

Okay, let's move on.

But, if you take the time to check out that blog - and I'm sure you didn't (why would you be interested in facts when you can just go snark), there are lots of other local issues that were brought against Sanctimonium during that election - beyond the residency issue... I know that's a compound sentence, but clear on that?

And that is what I am in the process of doing; like I said, checking out all the links on that blog, all pages, to see if they are credible... on all the issues featured on that blog... Clear on that?

Now, here's the hard part...

I said "so far" they are all accurate, the links, I mean. I didn't judge them or render them as true, I am in the process of checking them out... but "so far" they are accurate...

And when I find an issue that I believe is relevant to 2012 or that is strong and viable and worth noting... I will, of course, post something about it here.. with links and corroborating info and sources (some of us are interested in that).

There is a lot more I could say, but I don't want to overload your brain with rational thought, you obviously aren't used to it...

We could have discussed this like adults, issue by issue, you chose to go snarky and stupid... so I chose to get snarky right back at ya... (I'm not stupid).

Think about it twice next time, before you start in on one of you condescending posts.

This scandal sounds as hugh and series as Romney putting his dog on the roof of his car. It is obviously much worse than Obama using cocaine and hanging out with domestic terrorists.

If we look for the negatives and turn our backs on him, the other side will win by default.

But the month of attacks on Newt was ok. Personally, I'd never support a liar. Rick scr*wed himself with anyone that are repulsed by lies. He hasn't shown where he is different than mitt in that area. He lied to the country for his own gain - he has no integrity.

Your language is obviously duplicitous.

Good for you to back off what you actually said, but as you also saw I tracked down that particular Miller gal and found she's pushing rabbit sales ~ and as we discovered here at FR just a few months back just about anything you have to say or do about bunnies violates a USDA marketing board order on bunnies.

So, she's a criminal (more than likely), and you missed that!

What lies? Specifically?

This is a bit weak. He had to maintain residency to be a Senator of PA. He was paying taxes on the residence that is not questioned. His kids used a cyber school which does not cost the thousands of dollars suggested to maintain. Anyone that thinks this is going to be an effective attack is really dumb.

I wasn’t even talking about the article, I haven’t even read it. And I have no idea what you are talking about.

But that’s okay, you have a nice day now.

You dive bombed into the thread with more erroneous, ill-sourced propaganda about Rick Santorum's legal residence, and obviously had not read a thing out of the thread.

You still haven't read anything but my attack on your credibility.

That's always a foolish thing to admit on FR!

It cost the district thousands in tuition. Do a search and see what the tuition cost is - last year it was about 11k per student charged to their home district. The home district for students is "where they sleep" - PA has had court cases about district residency.

Seriously, why don’t you follow American in tokyo’s example and not trash Santorum since he might be our nominee one day?
