Newt's Southern Strategy Won't Work (Tokyo Rove alert)
Wall Street Journal ^ | 2/9/12 | Karl Rove

Posted on 02/09/2012 4:12:08 AM PST by jimbo123

Newt Gingrich's remarks Saturday night after the Nevada caucuses and on NBC's "Meet the Press" the next morning proved that presidential candidates should talk policy, not process.

Proclaiming "We want to get to Georgia, to Alabama, to Tennessee," Mr. Gingrich said primaries in the South would produce "a series of victories" that by the April 4 Texas primary would make him "very, very competitive in the delegate count."

Well, the Gingrich Southern strategy faces big obstacles, starting with Rick Santorum and Ron Paul. Demanding that these two candidates drop out so he becomes the only conservative alternative to Mitt Romney hasn't worked.

***presidential candidates should talk policy, not process.***

Newt is the only candidate who has policies, principles and solutions to our current crises.

No-one can compete with Newt’s vision and experience - which is why the media and RINOs are promoting these primaries as a ‘horse-race’ - all process and propaganda.

Newt is Secretariat and Man-o-War.

Rove is a twisted backstabber.

His love for poser Romney is destroying the GOP
and America’s last chance.

I’m sick of Rove, but Newt probably is done in by Santorum in the North.

KMA Rove. What gives YOU the right to dictate who the GOP candidate will be? Get your chubby @ss out of Washington and out of politics - you've done enough damage.

Rove. Sheesh. One of the WORST. In the tank for Romney. Open borders, Rockefellian freak. Never took responsibility for advocating an open border situation for eight years which essentially resulted in the deaths of many more Americans on American soil at the murdering (or drunk driving) hands of ILLEGAL ALIEN INVADERS, than those Mexicans (as bad as it was) snuffed out under the Obama’s brilliant “Fast and Furious” open border/violence condoned the other way program. The nerve of KR to show his fat face and spout off at all these days. This is NOT the future of my Republican Party.

Watching Rove sputter and sput about his lover butt Mitt striking out to Santorum is delicious.

I voted for Santorum here but Newt won South Carolina so unless his campaign collapses before Super Tuesday he will win the South hands down.

I see Santorum and Newt as the two final front runners with Romney only having enough delegates to keep anyone from getting the magic 1144.

It's sure gonna be a hot time in Tampa brudder!

Mr. Romney will, in all likelihood, grab the 33 delegates awarded winner-take-all at the congressional district level and most of the delegates allocated proportionally by Virginia's statewide results.

I predict Ron Paul will win VA as the only non-Romney cancidate. Gingrich and Santorum supporters know Paul can't win the nomintation, so it's a safe anti-Romney vote.

Has FOX News 'Jumped The Shark' Over Mitt???

FOX News may have 'jumped the shark' over mittens

Fair and balanced is Juan McCain

I for one have had enough of the ‘wisdom’ of Bill Kristal, Chas. Krauthammer, Ted Baxter, Bret Beahr, Toyko Rove, Ann Colter, Chris Wallace, Sean Wannabe, Dana Parino, Brit Hume, Shep Smith, Judge Jeanene, Alam Comes, Bob Beckle, Juan Williams, Whoraldo, et. al. all acting the part of the Romney cheerleading squad

I’m not sure Newt can win outside the south but he does pull votes from Romney in the south. Santorum on the other hand has shown that he can win outside his comfort zone.

In any case, both need to stay in for now and I’m actually wishing Ron Paul some luck in Virginia.

Another falsehood Rove and WSJ like to spread is that Romney qualified for the Virginia primary.

Actually, no one knows if he did. He claimed he had over 15,000 signatures on nominating petitions BUT the party didn't verify the truth of that claim.

He got a special break from the Fascist Pigs who run the Republican party machinery in Virginia.

Now I'm not a Ron Paul supporter, but that jerk is the ONLY person on the ballot besides Romney, who got there only by cheating.

I will show up with several hundred people to vote FOR PAUL because that's how you vote AGAINST ROMNEY.

Rick wins the North and Newt wins the South—The GOP convention could be a kind of Gettysburg deciding the fate of the union.

In a slightly edited blast from FR's past...

ROVE! You magnificent bastard!

Amazing how the fair haired boy who could do no wrong while running the machinery in the GWB years could evolve into such a turncoat.

Then again, some historians have long pondered if Benedict Arnold always had the treason gene in his bloodstream.

You would think that would matter to supposedly conservative voters.

Nope. Its all whomever makes me feel good at this moment.

It is simply a pathetic sight to behold.

Anybody that gives it that much thought would just write in their candidate. Most would just not vote.

“I’m actually wishing Ron Paul some luck in Virginia”
_______________

Many of us in here VA will be voting for Paul in the PRIMARY (NOT the General Election!!!) for the express purpose of denying Romney any delegates. For those who somehow have missed it the GOP-E here in VA, spear-headed by Gov McDonnell, has gerrymandered the GOP Primary so that( ONLY ROMNEY'S and PAUL’s NAMES APPEAR ON THE PRIMARY BALLOT ...and “NO WRITE-INS” ARE ALLOWED!!! In essence, we are disenfranchised.)

There was a thread addressing this on FR yesterday attempting to explain our strategy to Conservatives who didn't understand that to stay home and not vote on primary day = a de facto Romney “landslide.” Before that thread could get past the first 50 posts the admin moderator “pulled it.” The reason given: “No Ron Paul.”

Please understand; I have no use at all for Ron Paul; but, in this specific case in VA; “No Ron Paul” = “All Votes for Romney” and a “landslide” victory that will give all the delegates in VA to Mitt.

I have no wish to contradict whatever guidelines/policies Jim wants to enforce via his moderators; this is his site and I fully respect and support that. I would; however, urge the admin moderator(s) to look intelligently at what we are proposing; and, if necessary, discuss this w/Jim.

This is a VERY unique and unusual situation in VA and it needs to be looked at strategically; not dismissed with a perfunctory “one rule fits all; No Ron Paul” approach that is, frankly, as LTG Honore’ loved to opine; “Stuck on stupid.”

If anyone has a better strategy to combat the VA GOP’s “Romney Only” Pseudo-Primary debacle; please share whatever ideas you may have w/all of us highly frustrated VA Conservatives!!!

V/r,

-Geoff
