First part not too bad; Rattner in second just wasted time citing 53% of Catholics agreed with Obama’s compromise. Inane. Rex Reed excellent. Wish someone would get around to why women’s health has nothing, zero, nada, to do with the argument!

I keep thinking this has more to do with MEN’s freedom than women’s health

Is Ellen Rattner not the re incarnation of the Wicked Witch of the West?

Like zero, evil personified.

That’s a whole barely examined side to this issue. At the extreme it allows men to alleycat all they want without worrying about getting “punished with a baby” (even if indirectly through the mother).

I keep thinking this has more to do with MEN's freedom than women's health.

It's hard to tell what you meant by that. That only males care about issues of freedom of religion or freedom of conscience? Or that the Obama administration is doing this to restrict the freedom of all people (as in "All men are created equal"?).

I don't think Obama and company care particularly about women's health. They do care about women's votes and want to win them by offering something "for free" and portraying anyone who opposes them as hostile to women's interests.

I’ve always maintained that the abortion debate needs to shift to the male side of the equation.

Every person I’ve known who had an abortion did so because the male in her life essentiall backed out on her ...if she even knew him.

Too much of the burden is on women. Irresponsible and selfish men are half the problem.

Wish one of our candidates would bring this up sometime in the future.

"It was Sunday morning early in the year 1776. In the church where Pastor Muhlenberg preached, it was a regular service for his congregation, but a quite different affair for Muhlenberg himself. Muhlenberg's text for the day was Ecclesiastes 3 where it explains, 'To everything there is a season, a time for every purpose under heaven; a time to be born, and a time to die, a time to plant, and a time to pluck what is planted...'"

"Coming to the end of his sermon, Peter Muhlenberg turned to his congregation and said, 'In the language of the holy writ, there was a time for all things, a time to preach and a time to pray, but those times have passed away.' As those assembled looked on, Pastor Muhlenberg declared, 'There is a time to fight, and that time is now coming!' Muhlenberg then proceeded to remove his robes revealing, to the shock of his congregation, a military uniform."

"Marching to the back of the church he declared, 'Who among you is with me?' On that day 300 men from his church stood up and joined Peter Muhlenberg. They eventually became the 8th Virginia Brigade fighting for liberty."

"Frederick Muhlenberg, Peter's brother, was against Peter's level of involvement in the war. Peter responded to Frederick writing, 'I am a Clergyman it is true, but I am a member of the Society as well as the poorest Layman, and my Liberty is as dear to me as any man, shall I then sit still and enjoy myself at Home when the best Blood of the Covenant is spilling? ...So far am I from thinking that I act wrong, I am convinced it is my duty to do so and duly I owe to God and my country."

You sound exactly like me 40-odd years ago when the Equal Rights Amendment was wending its (thank God, unsuccessful) way through Congress. Of COURSE it’s about men. This is the perfect way to avoid ALL responsibility—first for the pregnancy, then for the upbringing of the child.

Nobody is talking about making it impossible for people to have access to contraceptives. Anyone who knows how to get to a drugstore has access. What they are demanding is that the taxpayers or people paying for insurance pay the costs for those who want to use contraceptives.

The female graduate student at Catholic University of America who was on the PBS News Hour a few nights ago (described as a "non-practicing Catholic") was angry that she would be expected to pay for her own birth control at the rate of $30 a month. How about making her sex partners pay for the pills or condoms?

In her mind apparently "the pursuit of happiness" means "the pursuit of pleasure" and she has an inalienable right to have someone else pay for it.

The liberal Catholic priest from ABC (powder blue sweater- gee, I hope he’s a UNC fan?)) said he didn’t want to politicize the issue by reading Dolan’s statement at Mass. Would he have said the same thing during the 1960’s civil rights fight? How about slavery? Would powder blue stay on the sidelines?

PS- as a practicing Catholic, I gave myself some license in decribing the good Father.

This has to do with religious freedom and the First Amendment.. You are sucking down liberal vomit. You should be ashamed at your gullible stupidity.

Obama just wants to kill more black babies.

2007 Abortion Rates Per 1,000:

Whites = 21.5 (1,039,000 babies killed)

Blacks = 63.9 (505,000 babies killed)

Other = 25.1 (65,000 babies killed)
