Fast and Furious: Rep. Darrell Issa Blinks, No Contempt Charges for Holder
Big Government ^ | Feb. 11, 2012 | AWR Hawkins

Posted on 02/11/2012 11:38:13 AM PST by Smokeyblue

For nearly a year now, House Oversight Committee Chair Darrell Issa (R=CA) and Attorney General Eric Holder have locked horns over Operation Fast and Furious. Throughout this time we have seen heated exchanges between the two during Congressional hearings, watched the DOJ’s narrative change more than once, and wondered why Holder has thus far been allowed to dictate the speed at which the committee can investigate him.

As of late, when Holder dug in and simply refused to the turn over the documents the House Oversight Committee subpoenaed, the contest between he and Issa turned into nothing less than a battle of wills. And Issa upped the ante when he drew a line in the sand and gave Holder until 5 pm on February 9th to comply with the subpoenas or face charges of contempt of congress.

I'm always reminded of Hunter Thompson's dedication in his bazaar drug addled tome Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas

To Richard Nixon who never let me down ....

I expected nothing of him and he never let me down.

I know that Romney and his lackies want to convince us that Newt is a flake, but when Newt ran the House, I don’t remember a SINGLE investigation being stymied by him. He let his chairmen do what they thought was necessary.

What do you call someone who gets avoided, delayed, lied to, has information hidden from them.................Mr. Chairman.

I’ve been hungry for some justice in this country since 1993.

My understanding was that it was Boehner who put the kibosh on filing perjury charges against Holder, not Issa. He told Issa that he wouldn’t allow it sometime last year.

That was the allegation I read recently. Weepy Boehner is no friend to the American People or to the Republic.

I’d appreciate that link, if they’ll let you post it. Fast & Furious reveals so much about the people we’re dealing with.

I’d bet money (if I had any. lol) that there is more to all the R caving than just politics. It’s too consistent and it is too much of an in-your-face spitting on the people the R’s need to support them. Just like the D’s that went along with suicidal votes after being pressured by the leaders of their party and then took it in the rear in the mid-term election. It’s something besides politics-as-usual that is getting these lawless results. There is something both the R’s and D’s fear more than just not getting re-elected because they are willing to fall on their electoral swords for an agenda that is destroying America.

But I’ll grant you one thing: it will not be Congress or federal law enforcement that finds out what the real bargaining chip Soros/Obama has on these R’s and D’s alike. If that’s ever revealed it will be through an act of God that neither Congress nor federal law enforcement were able to suppress.

I’m praying like crazy for exactly that to happen.

He can’t do it if Weepy Boehner won’t allow him to. From what I have read, Boehner told Issa it was a no go sometime last year.

ls...someone said on that ‘coach is right’ thread on Tuesday that nothing is going to change without violence. I can’t say that I disagree with that outlook.

What’s your source on that, or can you give me any leads as to the timing of when Boehner said that?

There is more afoot here than meets the eye. I’m convinced of it.

This choice of weakness is another nail in the coffin of the Republican Party.
We need a conservative third party now.

Agreed, pass the vino (better be a good one), and we'll send Boehner to a shrink............

To say this is a bitter disappointment doesn't come near to what we should be feeling. Holder could have been brought down if they had the courage, and he may be the most necessary one to bring down. His position as AG is very powerful as we brace for the upcoming election, and he is one of the most corrupt gubmint officials we have ever seen.

Just a thought but if Obama is defeated in November, how would it affect the “Fast and Furious” issue other than the fact that Obama and Holder would be gone.

Congressional investigators backing off?

IMO it is no small factor that investigators of F&F outside of Congress and government may have connected mega-bank HSBC to F&F -- and that means Washington, D.C. is in a panic.

Because not only are the trillion-dollar-a-year illegal drugs, the terrorists, the government shenanigans and all who use ILLEGAL international funds transfers in danger of being exposed.. but all in Washington, D.C. who get payoffs from these activities are now in danger of being expose.

Just a white zin but will definitely take the edge off.

Letting this man off, with all, not just fast and furious (the most serious offense), of the infractions that has been committed on his watch pretty much shows me what the elections will be like this year.

I can't disagree with him either. Whoever is the Republican nominee, a third party is needed anyway.

Even Ben Shapiro commented that the Republican party is like the latter day Whig party.

I kept telling folks a special prosecutor and Republican congress could not bust Clinton for his crimes in the 90, so why get all exited about this show now?

Traitor trash need to be disposed of like the garbage they are.
