BELLEFONTE Former Penn State assistant football coach Jerry Sandusky lashed out Friday at former friends and neighbors whose complaints prompted prosecutors this week to seek his confinement inside his State College house.
Sandusky's remarks to reporters came moments after a court heard testimony that several people had expressed concern over his frequent presence on his back deck, yards from a neighboring elementary school.
"All of a sudden these people turn on me when they've been in my home with their kids, they've attended birthday parties here for my grandchildren, they've been on that deck and in that yard," he said. "It's been difficult to be honest."
But prosecutors argued that those same friends and neighbors had good reason to be worried.
"This home was not safe for children 15 years ago, and it's not safe for children now," said Deputy Attorney General Jonelle H. Eschbach.
Friday's court hearing addressed a hodgepodge of pre-trial issues as prosecutors and Sandusky's defense prepare to take the case to trial May 14. Common Pleas Court Judge John M. Cleland did not make any rulings from the bench.

All of a sudden, Jerry, they heard you willingly admit that you took showers with young boys. You even said you hugged the boys. Most people (who aren't pedophiles) don't engage in this sort of behavior, and most people find it repugnant that you think it's okay to do these things with children. When you can begin to understand that they are creeped out by you, then maybe there can be a discussion. They are repulsed by the things you've admitted to doing. It's hard to feel sorry for someone who has brought all of this on himself. I hate to say it this way, but Jerry, you've made your bed. Now lay in it.
Just wait until prison, don’t turn on anybody.
I have no idea why his lawyer didn't shut him up a long time ago, but Sandusky's comments are pretty revealing.
This is not one of those cases. This guy is a classic psychopathic pedophile and does not deserve any accommodation. If by some weird chance he is ever exonerated he will have plenty of time to sit on his porch, watch prepubescent boys run around and fantasize to his filthy heart's content.
Gay pedophile whining ping
I’ll get it in a bit.
Isn’t there a father of one of these victims somewhere who has the nads to do what needs to be done with this piece of crap?
He's not just a filthy creep; he's also a filthy creepy moron.
PS needs to shut their football program down for five years. It’ll be at least that long before they can hope to get any serious talent from the high schools, I mean who the hell wants to come home on spring break and worry about how many fights they’re gonna get into over people asking if the PSU on the jacket stands for Perv State University??
Jerry Sandusky’s interview was the creepiest interview I’ve ever heard in my life.
I thank God that I've never been put in the position of these parents. My respect for the law has severely diminished over the years and I fear I would seek justice on my own terms. In fact I know I would.
I was abused as a child once and the only reason I didn't say anything was because I knew my dad would have killed that man.
[Actually, I think -- for once -- Sandusky's telling the truth is...Happy Valley has quite "suddenly" turned on this pedophile...(Finally!!!!)]
Actually, this is quite the indictment vs. Happy Valley culture...that so many either directly knew or had authoritative "whisperings" of some of the things this man was "down to..." ... yet kept coming to birthday parties at his house!
They should have turned on him many years ago.
Sir, I’m impressed beyond belief by your profile, God bless you Marine. And God bless you for your courage in over coming a horrible childhood experience. I’m humbled in your presence, sincerely.
I agree. This homosexual pedophile has no idea that he is a sick sick monster. Unbelievable.
We don’t even need a trial. Execute him now.
I keep reading and hearing this, but I never see a news story about a prison attack on a pederast.
Jerry, what did you expect after breaking the 11th Commandment?
