And on a day when Palin reportedly generated more enthusiasm than every presidential candidate combined who spoke at CPAC and owned the room and conference, one could not wonder how many who were listening to the speech were coming to the realization that Palin should be the GOP nominee for president much in the same way the majority in attendance at Kemper Arena in Kansas City in 1976 at the Republican National Convention, in their hearts, knew that Ronald Reagan -- and not Gerald Ford -- was the rightful standard-bearer of bold conservatism.

The fundamental question at stake in 2012 is what role the Republican Party will have going-forward as “the rightful standard-bearer of bold conservatism”.
It is not a foregone conclusion. There are alternatives, and “yes we can” make them a reality.
If the convention is smart, they will nominate Sarah. No, I don't expect it, but she's our best hope.
Oh, most certainly we can.
If Alaska nominates their Favorite Daughter at the convention it could get interesting. I believe Sarah deserves to be nominated and it would be fun. I do not think she will ever be the nominee because in 4 years Marco Rubio will be more than ready and for sure in 8 years. But Sarah will never be irrelevant in the process.
Sarah was exceptional and she is going to be on FOX with chrissy wallace this morning.
She will hand this evil little twit his chapeau.
She made her choice and I respect, but regret, that she made the one she did.
Haven’t seen this speech yet, but Sarah is absolutely magnificent, and has been my top choice for the nomination all along. Few boldly articulate conservatism with the emotion and confidence that she does. She’s an inspiration.
I also like Michelle Bachmann. Odd how these two have more ‘cajones’ than the cumulative total of all the male GOP candidates.
Even Chris Wallace had to acknowledge this morning on F&F that Palin brought the house down like no other!
It will be hard, if not impossible, for me to forgive Sarah for leaving us in this position.

I love Sarah, and everything she believes and says, BUT - please limit the flames now - when she gets energized speaking - which is usually - it seems she gets shrill, and to me at that point she ceases to communicate with authority....
Am I the only one who senses this? Margaret Thatched never did this......

IMO she looked at the poll numbers that had been set up by the press, who were after her for years and felt that swimming upstream in that current was probably impossible even for her.
Newt Gingrich? I completely dislike that scum. Sure he's smart and was a college professor....so was Pol Pot. He has the morals of an alleycat and the political spine of a jellyfish. The only reason he's popular now is that he's ditched what he really thinks of Conservatives, ie, Paul Ryan's plan, and trashes the media, giving boob-bait for the bubbas.
If he somehow makes it to the White House, do you REALLY think he'll pursue a Conservative agenda? He showed how tough he REALLY was in 1995, when Monica Lewinsky's ex-boyfriend completely outmaneuvered him in negotions and then rolled him during the Government Shutdown....after that, Gingrich was Clinton's good little Poodle. The first time a President Gingrich tries anything even remotely Conservative, the Washington Post, NY Times, and the major network media will criticize him......then the next he'll push is something along the lines of repealing Take Home Pay For Private-Sector Workers.
She does. And then her language gets stilted and awkward-sounding as if she's purposely exaggerating focus-group-tested words. That said, I'm about ready for her now.
I would love to see Sarah reconsider but if she doesn’t Newt has shown me he is thinking in bright colors not soft pastels.
Marco Rubio would be a good VP. It would be a good stepping stone to become the next president of Cuba.

I have been reading many posts in FR about Rubio’s citizenship question, I don’t know all the facts; but it could be a problem for him.
You can tell she tries to work on it.
She sounds like a singer who can’t really hear themselves onstage - and oversings as a result.
I’ve always wondered how much tech support they get at these events. She really needs a good, loud, stage monitor or IEM (in ear monitor) so she can hear herself.
Also - some eq can help a lot. Keep the mic close for proximity effect and boost the lower frequencies in her voice and bring down the 5-8K range, where her voice gets peaky and shrill.
If Sarah is not leaving open a convention nomination for herself, I hope she calls Newt and Rick to a meeting with her, where she tells them to come together on one ticket and rid the party of Willard once and for all.
