Oprah Winfrey issued an apology on Monday for asking viewers with a Nielsen box to tune into OWN.
"Every1 who can please turn to OWN especially if u have a Nielsen box," she wrote via Twitter on Sunday, just as the Grammy Awards telecast began opposite Oprah's Next Chapter. She later added, "Commercial Grammy people..u can turn to OWN."

But but she said she was sorry
That could be a multi-million dollar fine for Discovery.
Who would ever miss the Rosie show?/s
How did you end up with information about the contents of a private contract?
Manipulation of Nielsen ratings is a serious matter.
Oprah’s largest advertisers including Procter and Gamble are furious with Oprah over the OWN debacle and this stunt will make things worse.
Nielsen’s been bugging the crap out of me lately, dozens of phone calls, crap in the mail etc. I informed them that I’d provide consulting services to them for $150 per hour, with a 3 hour minimum, payable in advance, and they’ve finally gone away. Guess they just don’t care about my opinion!
There should be a network for formerly important media personalities. Each could have their own show.
I would nominate the following to have shows on this Jumped the Shark festival:
the ratings are used toilet tissue. They compete with Current and RFD
It probably won’t, but something like this could cause the FCC to decide not to renew Discovery’s license when it comes up for renewal.
You know things are bad at the OWN when her “Friend” Gayle King leaves it for someplace else..
P&G Signs Ad Deal With Winfrey Network
APRIL 22, 2010
Procter & Gamble Co. signed an advertising pact valued at more than $100 million with the Oprah Winfrey Network, according to people familiar with the matter, as the television-ad market continues to strengthen.
P&G’s deal with OWN spans three years, following the network’s planned debut next January, the people said.
I know you meant to say “to let” instead of “toilet” but toilet sounds like an accurate description of Nielsen.
They sound like an intrusive pain in the butt.
Thank-you for posting.
..... bad at the OWN when her Friend Gayle King leaves it for someplace else.....
Time to come out of the closet, girls.
You called them "toilet", "outhouse", "john", etc?
I wish I had a Nielsen box so it could record that I have never watched anything on OWN.
I have hung up twice this past couple of weeks on someone that wants me to answer some questions....I don’t talk to faceless machines about my opinions...all robo calls....
great freudian slip of the keyboard.....:O)
P&G probably wants their money back, if they had brains
P&G announced that is laying off a ton of their marketing people and moving away from reckless spending in TV in the future. The Oprah TV debacle was $100 million dollars in TV advertising paid for by P&G shareholders that went down the drain.
P&G marketing layoffs new sign of the times, expert says
They got what they deserve
There is no FCC license involved since this is a cable network. Only over the air broadcasts need FCC licenses.
It is an attempt to defraud advertisers and has the possibility to kill OWN. Ad rates are largely set based on ratings.
