BAGHDAD, Feb. 14 (UPI) -- U.S. supermajor Exxon Mobil won't be able to take part in an oil and natural gas licensing auction scheduled for May in Iraq, a spokesman said.

Iraq is expected to put around a dozen oil and natural gas blocks up for auction in its fourth licensing round, scheduled for May. Exxon Mobil is prohibited from taking part because it has contracts with the semiautonomous Kurdistan Regional Government.

"The Iraqi government has decided that Exxon won't be allowed to participate in the next oil- and gas-bidding round," Faisal Abdullah, a spokesman for the Iraqi Oil Ministry, told The Wall Street Journal.

They’re pissed at Exxon for making a deal with the Kurd’s provincial government, on fields the Kurd’s believe they can deal on their own.

Exxon should not cry, anyway.

The deals that the Iraqi national government has approved so far have been on really lousy terms to the winning bidders. Yes, the winning bidders will get supply, but very small profits.

Popular opinion was that America was in there to take the oil....It was all about the oil. America should already have the oil. What happened there?

“I’m glad Iraq appreciates all we did for them.”

We sunk a fortune into building the infrastructure of that country, not to mention the untold price in blood and treasure we paid to liberate these ingrates from a bloody tyrant. And then they tell one of our companies to take a hike. Screw them.

It was rather schizophrenic at that. They were simultaneously accusing us of invading to steal the oil and complaining that we weren’t seizing the oil to pay for the war.

These were the idiot arguments peddled in the Mid East and Africa. Stupid white people, also, bought into the crap.

We’re still waiting for the welcome wagon roses to be thrown at us that the neocons once guaranteed would occur at invasion +60 days from when they took us into war. Accountability has become a forgotten attribute in the USA. China still has it where those who lead and that wrongly forecast results are sent in front of a firing squad. I favor that here to put some honesty back into the system. Politics is irrelevant.

Donate here!

FR is looking for more Monthly Donors.
With dedicated Monthly Donors there would be no need for FReepathons.
Isn't Free Republic worth it? These FReepers think so. For the past several Thons they have donated $10 for each new monthly donor.

LibLieSlayer, afnamvet, DejaJude, upchuck, leapfrog0202, BuckeyeTexan, The Old Lady, onyx, RedMDer, Meg33, anonymous, BooBoo1000, glockrocks

Any FReeper can sponsor any number of New Monthly Donors at $10 per New Monthly Donor. Whatever number you're comfortable sponsoring!
All contributions are for the Current Quarter Expenses.
In other words, FR could go away if the expenses for this quarter are not met.
Where would you go?

Look behind the obvious occurrence, maybe at Iraqi meetings with diplomats or executives from Italy, UK, other European nations. Anyway, that will add to the problems behind our oil prices rising on this side of the pond.
