True believer: How Mitt Romney... by wearing special Mormon underwear
UK Daily Mail ^ | February 14, 2012 | Graham Smith

The Mormon faith of presidential candidate Mitt Romney has been one of the hot topics throughout the Republican's campaign. But a recent photo posted on social network website Twitter took speculation about the strength of his religious beliefs to new heights. It shows the GOP nominee wearing an unbuttoned white shirt with his Mormon underwear clearly visible underneath. Also known as a Temple garment, it typically covers the shoulders and extends to the knees, in deference to rules surrounding the Church of the Latter Day Saints' temples.

Kind of puts a whole new spin on that “Boxers or Briefs” question.

That’s never been truly vetted enough and Romney will have the money and will to do if necessary.

And the MEDIA has the ON/OFF switch. Do you REALLY think they'd ALLOW Mitt to that much airtime?

“The tenets of Mormonism are not a threat to America or to Western Civilization, AFAIK, unlike mohammedism.”

Um, are you aware that Mormonism, since its founding by Joseph Smith Jr, has consistently compared itself favorably to Islam and claimed to be the bridge between Christianity and Islam?

Are you aware that the two religions have close ties and that as recently as last Spring both Mormon and Islamic religious scholars gathered for a joint conference in Utah?

Are you aware that up until the Oklahoma bombing, the biggest act of domestic terrorism, which happened on September 11 by the way, was the Mountain Meadow Massacre perpetuated by Mormons?

I know a lot of Mormons who are good people. I also have a lot of Muslim friends who I consider good people. But in terms of comparing Islam and Mormonism - with the exception of Islam being monotheistic - there are way more similarities between the two religions than there are between either religion and Christianity.

I'm no fan of Romney but the answer is
..."For 20 years, until 2008, Barack Hussein Obama was a member of of a "Church", indeed was married in this "Church" that claims to this day that America intentionally spread AIDS in the Black Community, that supports Hamas over Israel, and that blames America for the 9/11 attacks. And afaik, Barack Hussein Obama has never denounced that Church or it's leaders."

Oh YEAH!!

That'll resonate!!!

"You see some classes of the human family that are black, uncouth, uncomely, disagreeable and low in their habits, wild, and seemingly deprived of nearly all the blessings of the intelligence that is generally bestowed upon mankind.

The first man that committed the odious crime of killing one of his brethren will be cursed the longest of any one of the children of Adam. Cain slew his brother. Cain might have been killed, and that would have put a termination to that line of human beings.

This was not to be, and the Lord put a mark upon him, which is the flat nose and black skin. Trace mankind down to after the flood, and then another curse is pronounced upon the same race--that they should be the 'servant of servants', and they will be, until that curse is removed."

Brigham Young-President and second 'Prophet' of the Mormon Church, 1844-1877- Extract from Journal of Discourses.

Here are two examples from their 'other testament', the Book of Mormon.

2 Nephi 5: 21 'And he had caused the cursing to come upon them, yea, even a sore cursing, because of their iniquity. For behold, they had hardened their hearts against him, that they had become like unto a flint; wherefore, as they were white, and exceedingly fair and delightsome, that they might not be enticing unto my people, the Lord God did cause a skin of blackness to come upon them.'

Alma 3: 6 'And the skins of the Lamanites were dark, according to the mark which was set upon their fathers, which was a curse upon them because of their transgression and their rebellion against their brethren, who consisted of Nephi, Jacob and Joseph, and Sam, who were just and holy men.'

August 27, 1954 in an address at Brigham Young University (BYU), Mormon Elder, Mark E Peterson, in speaking to a convention of teachers of religion at the college level, said:

"The discussion on civil rights, especially over the last 20 years, has drawn some very sharp lines. It has blinded the thinking of some of our own people, I believe. They have allowed their political affiliations to color their thinking to some extent.I think I have read enough to give you an idea of what the Negro is after."

"He is not just seeking the opportunity of sitting down in a cafe where white people eat. He isn't just trying to ride on the same streetcar or the same Pullman car with white people. It isn't that he just desires to go to the same theater as the white people. From this, and other interviews I have read, it appears that the Negro seeks absorption with the white race. He will not be satisfied until he achieves it by intermarriage."

"That is his objective and we must face it. We must not allow our feelings to carry us away, nor must we feel so sorry for Negroes that we will open our arms and embrace them with everything we have. Remember the little statement that we used to say about sin, 'First we pity, then endure, then embrace'...."

(Rosa Parks would have probably told Petersen under which wheel of the bus he should go sit.)

1967, (then) Mormon President Ezra Taft Benson said,

"The Communist program for revolution in America has been in progress for many years and is far advanced. First of all, we must not place the blame upon Negroes. They are merely the unfortunate group that has been selected by professional Communist agitators to be used as the primary source of cannon fodder."

We are told that on June 8, 1978, it was 'revealed' to the then president, Spencer Kimball, that people of color could now gain entry into the priesthood.

According to the church, Kimball spent many long hours petitioning God, begging him to give worthy black people the priesthood. God finally relented.

Sometime before the 'revelation' came to chief 'Prophet' Spencer Kimball in June 1978, General Authority, Bruce R McConkie had said:

"The Blacks are denied the Priesthood; under no circumstances can they hold this delegation of authority from the Almighty.

The Negroes are not equal with other races where the receipt of certain blessings are concerned, particularly the priesthood and the temple blessings that flow there from, but this inequality is not of man's origin, it is the Lord's doings."

(Mormon Doctrine, pp. 526-527).

When Mormon 'Apostle' Mark E Petersen spoke on 'Race Problems- As they affect the Church' at the BYU campus in 1954, the following was also said:

"...if the negro accepts the gospel with real, sincere faith, and is really converted, to give him the blessings of baptism and the gift of the Holy Ghost, he can and will enter the celestial kingdom. He will go there as a servant, but he will get celestial glory."

When Mormon 'Prophet' and second President of the Church, Brigham Young, spoke in 1863 the following was also said:

"Shall I tell you the law of God in regard to the African race? If the white man who belongs to the chosen seed mixes his blood with the seed of Cain, the penalty, under the law of God is death on the spot. This will always be so."

(Journal of Discourses, Vo. 10, p. 110)

Yeah; Native Americans are althroughout the Book of MORMON; too.

“I saw a striking contrast in the progress of the Indian people today ... they are fast becoming a white and delightsome people.... For years they have been growing delightsome, and they are now becoming white and delightsome, as they were promised.... The children in the home placement program in Utah are often lighter than their brothers and sisters in the hogans on the reservation.

At one meeting a father and mother and their sixteen-year-old daughter were present, the little member girl-sixteen-sitting between the dark father and mother, and it was evident she was several shades lighter than her parents—on the same reservation, in the same hogan, subject to the same sun and wind and weather.... These young members of the Church are changing to whiteness and to delightsomeness.

One white elder jokingly said that he and his companion were donating blood regularly to the hospital in the hope that the process might be accelerated.

(Improvement Era, December 1960, pp.922-23). (p. 209)

That leads to learning that he is a Bishop, and is a powerful figure in that religion, and then they find out that he had a private meeting with his “Prophet” before he would run for President.

History lesson:

Ezra Taft Benson

Ezra Taft Benson (August 4, 1899 – May 30, 1994) was the thirteenth president of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (LDS Church) from 1985 until his death and was United States Secretary of Agriculture for both terms of the presidency of Dwight D. Eisenhower.

In 1953, Benson was appointed U.S. Secretary of Agriculture by President Eisenhower. Benson accepted this position with the permission of Church President David O. McKay and therefore served simultaneously in the United States Cabinet and in the LDS Church's Quorum of the Twelve Apostles.

That's about all that's "magic" about that underwear ;^)

You'd be amazed the superstitious rumors that circulate amongst mormons about their temple garment...anecdotes about it stopping bullets, shark attacks that broke the shark's teeth, all kinds of crap.

Reminds me of an old joke my Scottish dad loved.

Woman asks an old Scotsman wearing a kilt:
“Um, sir, is anything worn under there?”

To which he replies:
“Why, no, m’am, it’s as good as new!”

Collectively, all Christians say they are the “true” church (which I agree with because Jesus Christ is my perosnal Savior).

Apparently, Brigham Young didn't think Jesus was the savior, nor did he think he was any other Mormon's when he said this....

Brigham Young - If you find your brother in bed with your wife, and you put a javelin through them both, you would be justified and they would atoned for their sins and be received into the kingdom of God. ... "There is not a man or woman, who violates the covenants made with their God, that will not be required to pay the debt. The blood of Christ will never wipe that out, your own blood must atone for it;" Journal of Discourses, vol. 3, p. 247 (1856)

Either Christ died for your sins or he didn't. God did not send his only son to be the sacrifice and have a disclaimer on the sins that he would cover..... Only a cult would put up such an obstacle.

Devout Jews wear special shirts and caps and believe they have the truth.

Christians are not Jews and magic undies are not required for salvation. Either you believe Christ is the savior or you don't.

Mormons claim they are Christian but they deny Christ's authority............Brigham Young - "There are sins that men commit for which they cannot receive forgiveness in this world, or in that which is to come, and if they had their eyes open to see their true condition, they would be perfectly willing to have their blood spilt upon the ground ... I know, when you hear my brethren telling about cutting people off from the earth, that you consider it is strong doctrine; but it is to save them not destroy them. ... I know that there are transgressors, who, if they knew themselves, and the only condition upon which they can obtain forgiveness, would beg of their brethren to shed their blood" Journal of Discourses, vol. 4, p. 53 (1856)

.

You can’t have it both ways and maintain any reasonable discourse or position.

Mormons seem to think they can have it both ways when they say they are for Christ but really adhere to another gospel.

Galatians 1:6-9

No Other Gospel

6 I am astonished that you are so quickly deserting the one who called you to live in the grace of Christ and are turning to a different gospel— 7 which is really no gospel at all. Evidently some people are throwing you into confusion and are trying to pervert the gospel of Christ. 8 But even if we or an angel from heaven should preach a gospel other than the one we preached to you, let them be under God’s curse! 9 As we have already said, so now I say again: If anybody is preaching to you a gospel other than what you accepted, let them be under God’s curse!

Paul spells it out perfectly. You are either for Christ or you sever another master. You can't have both.

Come on...this is not the issue...... I as an active member of the same Chruch (LDS)

Honestly, I have to wonder if a Mormon can be a president and follow Mormonism, especially when the Mormon founders have said this....

Jedediah M. Grant - "if they are covenant breakers we need a place designated, where we can shed their blood." Journal of Discourses, vol. 4, p. 50 (1856)

Jedediah M. Grant - "I say that there are men and women that I would advise to go to the President immediately, and ask him to appoint a committee to attend to their case; and then let a place be selected, and let that committee shed their blood." Journal of Discourses, vol. 4, p. 49 (1856)

Brigham Young - "If you want to know what to do with a thief that you may find stealing, I say kill him on the spot, and never suffer him to commit another iniquity." Journal of Discourses, vol. 1, p. 108 (1853)

Brigham Young - After recounting a dream where he slits the throats of two apostates, Brigham Young states, "I say, rather than that apostates should flourish here, I will unsheath my bowie knife and conquer or die." Journal of Discourses, vol. 1, p. 83 (1853)

Brigham Young - For some the only way to be saved and exalted with the Gods is to have their own blood shed. "Will you love your brothers or sisters likewise, when they have committed a sin that cannot be atoned for without the shedding of blood? Will you love that man or woman well enough to shed their blood?" Journal of Discourses, vol. 4, p. 219 (1857)

No it’s not. If it were a good point it would have parallels. What will Jeff try to tell folks to overcome the media screaming ‘racism’ if Milt Rominy tires to raise Black Liberation (Marxist) Theology in responswe to the media exposing the blasphemies and heresies in MormonISM? And besides, when will we conservatives openly acknowledge that the media has the megaphone and our voices are squeaks at best in countering the lies in media?

Let's get off of the religion nonsense and keep our focus on what is important here - we're in the process of electing a President, not the country's moral leader.

Ya know I've heard now for 5 years that we're NOT electing a "pastor in chief" from some FR posters.

A pastor is but a shepherd. And what's interesting is that we have even some conservative talk show hosts -- like Dennis Prager, for example -- claiming Romney's role includes being a shepherd (albeit more in economic terms)

A few days ago Prager was trying to "help out" Romney when the MSM was critiquing him on some economic point.

Prager said something to the effect that Romney should have given some immediate comeback to the MSM how he was "taking care" of people economically in some facet.

As soon as Prager said that Romney would be "taking care" of people economically, I immediately thought, "Here's a conservative who would readily say we're NOT electing a 'pastor-in-chief,' yet is assigning a sort of economic shepherding role to Romney as would-be POTUS."

A "pastor" IS nothing but a shepherd.

And so when ya have conservative talk show hosts assigning a shepherding role to Romney, for some reason we don't see conservatives getting all up in arms over that.

So if Romney can be pinpointed as a shepherd of sorts by Prager w/out riling up conservatives, then when we point out other "shepherding" components of Lds bishop Mitt Romney, then you can let that slide, too.

Sorry, that is just not accurate.

The LDS Church spoke out forcefully against radical Islam both before, and particularly after 911.

Many LDS have gone off to fight (my son in law is one of them) and many have been injured and died. Service in the Armed forces of the US is respected and encouraged in the Chruch and there are many who serve.

There are church members who do seek ways to speak with what they deem as peaceful Muslims who are open to discussion and try and find common ground so there can be understanding and peaceful reltions...but the two belief systems at their core or diamterically opposed. Fundamental Islam seeks world domination at the point of a sword, either you join, are enslaved, or die.

The LDS Church prosilytes through pure free choice and tries to speak with and discuss with people and let them make up their own mind...and does not seak to “rule the world”. We believe Christ will rule the world when he returns.

The LDS Church proclaims Jesus Christ as the Son of God and the Atoner for all mankind and the only path for mankind back to God. Islam denies the divinity of Jesus Christ and the Atonement.

One quote is repeatedly used by Joseph Smith when he indicated that if persecutions continued at the time (when He and Far West Missouri, a town of several thousand Mormons that were surrounded by Militia and Regular Armies of the State of Missouri in the 1830s acting under the infamous Mormon Extermination order by Governor Boggs at the time) that he would be the next Mohammed to his enmies. Smith was emotionally involved to the extreme, facing the defeat and potential butchery of his friends and neighbors and members of his church and trying to defend them with less than 1000 men against many times that number.

He made this statement during that highly charged encounter. Most people on the western frontier did not even know of islam, and those that did were certainly not acquainted with its bloody reality as we are today. I beleive he was wrong to say it based on all of that, but I do not believe he meant at all to equate the LDS church at the time then, or now, with Islam.

As it was, he surrendered, was imprisoned and his town ransacked and all of the people, men women and children forced to give up their lawfully owned possessions, land and hoses and leave the state on foot in the dead of winter. they literally left a trail of blood as they walked across the state to Illinois and crossed the river to safety at the time.

So, I will give Joseph Smith some understanding and leeway on that quote, given the circumstances and emotions, even though I disagree with what he said.

As it is, the LDS church is not confederated with, or like fundamental islam in the least and IMHO it is a grave insult to the blood of those LDS Americans who have shed their blood in the fight against it to try and marginalize and demonize their faith in this manner.

You’re getting pretty adept at your LDS brand of political correctness, Jeff. How well do you think it will work during a media onslaught? And just between us two, your using the service and sacrifice of our soldiers, LDS or Methodist or atheist, is offensive since you’re exploiting their memory to try and squelch exposure of MormonISM. You’re becoming disgusting, Jeff.
