Check out the video of the opening of today's Morning Joe. In just over two minutes, the show ran clips of Knicks player Jeremy Lin hitting a three-point buzzer beater last night . . . no fewer than 10 times.
But Morning Joe was far from finished. I counted a total of 28 Lin clips during the course of the show. Donnie Deutsch opined that "this is one of the few things where the 1% and the 99% can agree." Mike Barnicle later expressed a similar sentiment. Clearly the Lin story is moving America. But query how long he will remain a uniting figure should the MSM, as in the case of similarly-inspirational Tim Tebow, start mocking his devout Christianity?

It will last until the media starts concentrating on his statements thanking “his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ” for his success. Then they’ll Tebow him.
It’s a damn basketball game. America is going the route of Greece and these clowns in the media are more concerned with some basketball player having a string of good games. Anything to keep from talking about what’s really going on. We’ll see how many NBA games are going on when there’s riots in the streets because people can’t get their money out of the bank or can’t buy milk or bread at the store.
Just oughta curiosity...this is the first time I hear about this guy...is he a christian?? Did he professed Christ on the basketball court? Why did he skyrocketed on the TV scope so fast? Is he another Tebow?
Lin is more than just a good basketball player. The kid is extremely bright. He went to Harvard because of his brains, not his skills with a basketball. That said, he is achieving whatever version/vision he has of the American Dream. Good for him.
I saw him play in High School. My son was on a team that beat Palo Alto. My son’s team and Lin’s team both won CA state championships (different divisions) that year. Out of all the players I watched Lin impressed me with his leadership abilities as well as his basketball skills. Glad he’s becoming successful. Seems like a great kid....

Yes, he’s a Christian, I believe an Evangelical. There are some very strong Christians these days in China and in South Korea. I’ve met a few of them.
Obviously there’s some interest because most Asians are relatively short, and therefore not usually basketball material. And I suspect some interest because it offers a chance to cheer for a non-black basketball player without being accused of being a racist who cheers for Whitie.
He’s a Christian, and he didn’t come out of nowhere. Anyone who’s followed his progress from HS to college to the Golden State Warriors to The Knicks knew he could play. He’s been relegated to lots of bench time behind guys with bigger salaries and egos. He’s getting a chance to shine now because of injuries to other players....
There's some interest bexcause he has the potential to be great. Lin has scored more points over his first five starts than any player since the ABA-NBA merger.--

The amazing thing about Lin is that he was undrafted and then signed and cut by two teams before being picked up by the Knicks. This was simply a major failure of a system that has a proven ability to pick out the talented prospects from the thousands of players who hope to play in the NBA.
But what fun it is to watch. I hope Lin can become the next Steve Nash.
Some people took an hour off from the doom and gloom and it seems that all n00bies can do is bitch about it.

the real story is that despite having a terrific HS career, he was NOT recruited, and one of his former coaches believes that it was racial prejudice....that no one wanted to bother to look into an Asian bb player...the same ones who don't want to look into white running backs or wide receivers...and I guess the same logic why in the olden days, black quarterbacks were not looked at heavily...
Harvard grad, good player from what we have seen but.... if he played in say Detroit or Sacramento or San Antonio instead of NYC a 10-20 second blurb on sports center.
Didn’t you get the memo that we need to be negative 24/7? There is no room for happy stories here.
I went to work because I have a job. We have these “feel good” stories about people like Tebow and Lin to keep people from focusing on the real issues facing America. These stupid stories about celebrities or athletes mean dick and shouldn’t even be reported.
Joe could influence so many people with stories of how to really exact change in America, yet he wastes time talking about a basketball player. But yeah, we need “feel good” stories like Jeremy Lin. I’ll “feel good” when our debt isn’t 16 trillion going on 20.
