How Barack Obama Created an Election-Winning Issue (Vanity)
Free Republic | Feb 15, 2012 | By Lazamataz

On January 7th, at the Republican debate, George Stephanopoulos embarked on a sudden, unexpected, and bizarre series of questions about contraception and birth control. Most of the political pundits who watched this, were somewhat puzzled at the virtual harangue that Stephanopoulos went on, asking candidate after candidate to pin down their views -- even though birth control issues were decidedly not in the forefront.

Then, President Obama and his brain trust picked a fight with the Catholic Church, demanding that they fund birth control and abortion services. When the Church rose up in anger, they compromised -- they only needed to accept birth control and abortion services, the funding would come later.

Angered by the arrogance and the mandate to go against their conscience, soon a bill was proposed that would stop these unConstitutional mandates. Within hours, Senators Barbara Boxer (D-Calif.), Patty Murray (D-Wash.), Richard Blumenthal (D-Conn.), and Frank Lautenberg (D-N.J.) assembled on Capitol Hill to denounce 'Republicans who wanted to keep women barefoot and pregnant', who wanted 'to bring us back to the medical dark ages'.

This was the plan all along. Obama picked a fight, on purpose, to be able to have these sound bites uttered. The media, complicit in every effort to bring America farther to the left, knows the lie but will not explain: This has nothing to do with contraception. This has everything to do with mandating religious behaviors and belief. Contraception is the hill they are fighting on, but the war is over forcing the Church to do something they will not -- and they CANNOT.

The media will never explain the nuances of this, and Team Obama knows that. They wish to mobilize women by making them believe -- amazingly -- that somehow, Republicans intend to poke holes in condoms and substitute Tic-Tacs for Birth Control Pills.

The fact George Stephanopoulos asked this question, during the January 7th debate -- into a political vacuum as regards this issue -- tells even the casual observer that this plan of attack was well-premeditated, and directed from the White House. The immediacy of response from the most diligently liberal also implies preparation. We have, in front of us, what the Democrats wish to make the election about: Scaring women with outright lies. Apparently, scaring the elderly in the same way isn't working as well.

Admin Moderator of JimRob, I know this is not the normal place for a vanity. I would, however, ask that you allow this editorial to stay here on a one-time-exception basis. This is an important take on the contraception controversy that has emerged.

If the leadership of the GOP happens to see this, perhaps they will do something to counter the plan.

Millions of female voters getting something for free that they formerly had to pay for. It’s about that grotesque and that simple.

Oh, and Admin/JimRob, if this is a quality editorial, perhaps you might consider — for people who write well enough — to have a featured place for editorials.

I agree. For a slightly different reason. Given that Team 0bama is going after its opposition with the IRS—in political terms at this point—all 501(c)3 non-profits, including churches, are in the cross-hairs. I even read a story today that OWS types are protesting Catholic food banks. Can you imagine protesting a FOOD BANK?

The move is to make everything and every decision/policy come from an unelected, bureaucratic tyrant.

People don’t like the comparisons to the 1930s and so on, but if this isn’t it, I don’t know what is.

Recently, I was reading a UK blog. Someone posted that the US is a frightening place now and not worth going to anymore. How about that.

Remember, folks. Include a baby carrot and piece of lettuce in your child’s lunch. You could save the child from self-starvation while at school. Call it dictating while Child.

I think this analysis is sound. I can’t figure out any other reason for that strange preoccupation with birth control in the debate well before this controversy arose.

Laz...on the right track, but this statement is not true.

This has everything to do with political "optics" as they like to say. This has nothing to do with contraception, mandating religious behaviors or beliefs.

You overall take is correct. They simply tailored a provocation around what they knew would be a reflex response. And they executed it perfectly. And now they have their issue.

They win because they plan in the locker room and execute in public.

We lose because we argue in public and execute against each other.

Yes, but I am looking from our perspective. They can push this false-flag issue, but we need to dig JUST a touch deeper and counter on religion and free-speech issues.

David Gregory did the same thing to Santorum last week. The questions seemed crazy and ridiculously arbitrary.

This was the plan all along. Obama picked a fight, on purpose, to cause civil unrest and insurrection, so that he has an excuse to “postpone” November elections. Chaos is his friend and tool.

I actually don’t think this contraception issue will work too well for Obama.

People who would vote for our candidate aren’t dumb enough to vote for Obama because they think the GOP will outlaw contraceptives. Many people already get them free of charge. Most people who would believe this nonsense wouldn’t vote for anyone from the GOP anyway.

The candidates themselves, can make it clear they have no desire to ban contraceptives and that this is an Obama scare tactic.

We have, in front of us, what the Democrats wish to make the election about: Scaring women with outright lies.

This tack was tried, tested and proved winnable by the 2010 California Governor's race and Senator Boxer's reelection.

Republicans (AKA THE STUPID PARTY) continually allow the dims to set the terms of the debate. Of course, they are aided by their friends in the MSM who wouldn't allow an honest debate - ever!

Regards,

TS

Laz... I agree with you about the premeditation of this issue. I think you’ve captured the essence of what it going on here.

However, let me add something else.

This is classic agitprop. That’s Lenin-speak for “agitation propaganda,” which is the creation or the use of an issue for the purpose of inflaming the emotions of the people so their anger can be misdirected while the state or the party does something else.

This issue is perfect at roiling emotions - the left will be enraged that the church is taking away their “rights,” the church will be enraged that they’re being forced to violate their tenets, the young will be lied to that their right to free sex is under assault, women’s groups will be whipped into a labial froth.

Meanwhile, the Democrats and the other statists are working on amassing control and power for themselves, not exactly hidden, but not the focus of attention, either. By the time this issue dies down, they will have gotten what they really wanted - more power.

God help us.

Obama is shepherding this family/church feud for the 'liberal' Catholics, that believe in 'universal' health care. Obama did not write the health care bill he outsourced this to the House of Representatives .. under the stewardship of Nanncy Pewlouise and Bart Stupak. What these liberals know is the church is divided and they intend on re-cutting Peter's keys once again.

George Snuffleuffagus works for the Democrats? Our free and unbiased press, freely, and without bias, shilling for the Democrats. Dear old media; where exactly will you draw the line when it comes to pandering and prostituting for the Democrats? Mike Wallace would let American Soldiers walk into an ambush. Will you let the Democrats loot the taxpayer’s money?

One of the Founders, I am not.

But, every now and again, I find an acorn.

Love, Laz.
