Some Conservatives Are Upset Over Fox News’ Alleged Move To The Left
Mediaite ^ | 2-15-12 | Nando Di Fino

On Tuesday, POLITICO’s Keach Hagey published a story on Fox News’ “course correction” — a Roger Ailes-backed move — that has many conservatives up in arms. This “Fox moves left” theme is nothing new; last month an activist group called for the re-hiring of Glenn Beck after the network brought in Sally Kohn as a contributor.

Hagey found a contingent of people at CPAC who felt that Fox News’ perceived move to the center had lessened the enjoyment of their viewing experience. These former devotees have decided to turn instead to the Internet and Roku boxes to get their fill of conservative news and entertainment — whether it be from Glenn Beck, The Blaze, or a host of other conservative offerings. A sort of niche backlash has swelled up against the network, with many conservatives feeling they’ve been abandoned.

“I’ve gone from all Fox to no Fox, and replaced it with CNN, which I think right now is giving me a much fairer analysis of what’s going on,” John Fredericks told Hagey. “I feel they’ve lost that independent conservative mantra that had drove people like me to them. I used to feel that I got it straight, and I got an independent conservative view. Now, what I get is some wholly owned subsidiary of the RNC.”

Glenn Beck has moved into the Twilight land. I think he has

had a mental breakdown. I left Glenn TV.

The Rinos at Fox News also helped Knock out Herman Cain and Michele Bachmann out of the presidential race. and forced Glenn Beck out.

Well Glenn Beck did attack Newt and lost some fans. All I am saying, for my part, is that Fox News dumped or uses less some people who attacked the establishment.

Yesterday, perino actually compared Newt Gingrich to Carrie. The rest off the panel jumped in with both feet. It was disgusting. Will never watch again.

I used to feel that I got it straight, and I got an independent conservative view.

This was never true. Fox News was different because they do not hate America.

"Fair and balanced" is not conservative.

"Factual and true" would be conservative.

Stossel is a hardcore libertarian and I believe Napolitano leans that way. They are not conservatives. Libertarian does not equal conservative. Keep your libertarian party out of my conservative party.

FOX has always had liberals on. Is Hannity a less conservative show than Hannity and Colmes? O’Reilly has always been a populist on economics, but with a clear mainstream, non-religious-based social conservatism that you rarely see on television from anyone.

I’ll always watch O’Reilly because he’s a great broadcaster, great interviewer and it’s probably the most entertaining show on television for me. I don’t like Hannity as much since Colmes left. I like watching debate with both sides duking it out. Greta has actually been improving lately as an interviewer. Geraldo’s a liberal guy but also does a pretty good show. Huckabee is pretty conservative...show’s a little boring.

All that being said, a lot of the downticket commentators and talking heads seem to have a RINO tilt lately, but they’re the type of people who always did, it just didn’t come out as much when there was no one to criticize except for Obama. They still bring on arch-conservatives like Michelle Malkin, declared moderates like Pat Cadell and far-lefties of various flavors.

Politics isn’t news and isn’t supposed to be. Their news shows are Special Report to an extent and FOX Report. What I always turn off is their coverage of the celebrity scandals, missing kids, etc. But, again, that’s nothing new. They’ve always done that. And I’ve never watched the pure fluff like their morning shows.

I don’t think of Beck as a conservative, more like a basketcase. He’s someone who does not have a clear-thinking mind so it’s no surprise he got mixed up with drugs, booze and an exotic religion like Mormonism.

Red Eye is also one of the funniest shows on TV. Comedy from any kind of conservative perspective is rare enough that you have to appreciate it. Sure, they’re moderate, but for the entertainment industry, they may as well be far right-wing.

Megyn Kelly’s rose up on the network big time and she’s obviously a social liberal/fiscal conservative, but she’s risen because she’s the first gorgeous news babe they’ve had who’s also genuinely intelligent and has fantastic broadcasting skills. They may have de facto become more moderate because of her, but it’s more because she’s so darn talented that she deserved to rise to prominence.

I like seeing different sides debate. I’m from Pennsylvania and a Democrat family, so I’ve been debating all my life. An entirely conservative message would feel alien to me and probably a little boring.

Yes Fox News is a propaganada arm of the Rino elite. For me it started when I saw a shift in Ted Baxter’s show after Obama was elected or when Michelle Malkin quit guest hosting.

So far as I can find out, Michelle quit Bill's show before that election because Geraldo Rivera made comments about her on the show that she took objection to and she didn't like how Bill handled it.

Bill O is trying to distance himself from the person he had come to be know as between 96 and 06.

Maybe, but it's to be expected that Fox News would behave as it has. When Obama won, what we talked about changed and Fox News wasn't going to start talking about whether Obama was a Muslim or American-born or a natural born citizen or out to destroy the country. They were trying to preserve their credibility with a wider audience, as a major news outfit would.

I’ve said it again and I’ll say it before, Fox News needs competition from the right to keep it real.

They went out of their way to support Obama

That's a ridiculous statement. FOX was Reverend Wright 24/7 for a while, and Hannity's been bringing up William Ayers every other day for 4 years. He also did a long series of well-produced pieces on Obama in the run-up to the election analyzing every controversy around him in detail. It was the only station where you could see that kind of coverage on Obama. Let's not rewrite history here. For the majority of last year, it was just about 24/7 anti-Obama. Even I got sick of it for a while last year because it wasn't news...I already know I hate Obama so there was no reason to watch. It's true they overall are leaning Romney now though. I don't know if I was watching much during the last primary to remember if they were leaning one way or another then.

Well, all one needed to do is watch their morning shows with effeminate male hosts in their light pastel tones of pink and purple ties and baby faces...empty of any real insight or world experience...and know Fox really wasn't as “right” as they were portrayed.

But, recently, OReilly has been looking like a goon in his analysis of politics and has been toned down to the point he licks Obama’s boots. And what happened to Napolitano...shut him down, right!

I prefer the Internet to all TV news stations. There are news anchors on FOX, who, it wouldn't shock me say “Like, oh my God...whatever...that's amazing...you know what I mean?...” once the cameras stop rolling.

the only thing I watch on fox is Red Eye, comes on at 3am....I have insomnia so it fits in with my sleeping habits...wonder how long they will keep that on. has a mix of guests but leans right...Ann Coulter was on a couple of weeks ago and got a somewhat chilly reception after she started talking...spent most of the time giggling and it is an annoying giggle....She cannot handle hard questions on her political talking points.....but they have left and right guests, comedians with a point and sometimes a sports person....very good show most of the time.....a little naughty at times but not anything bad. I had to aquire a taste for it, now love it.......
