Who was the last outspoken, unashamedly Christian player in the NBA? And I understand he is a Harvard graduate too.

God bless him.

I know A.C. Green and Charlie Ward were.

The Chinese Tebow.

Yes, God bless both of them.

Much of “Christian Music” is just plain awful. I’m talking about “Jesus is my boyfiend” type songs.

If that’s what the article is talking about theuy will get a pass from me on this one.

Like every genre, Christian music has its share of junk....my presumption is that the Daily Swarm isn’t that discerning.

RE: I know A.C. Green and Charlie Ward were.

Don’t forget two time NBA champ David Robinson of the San Antonio Spurs.

So was former NBA scoring champ, “Pistol” Pete Maravich before he tragically died of a heart attack.

The only one I can think of is David Robinson, but he was from Navy.

One of the artists mentioned had a top 25 album on iTunes last week... it’s like the March For Life, if you’re not in lockstep you don’t exist.

And when I say top 25... I’m talking top 25 album for all of iTunes... not a Christian/Gospel subchart.

I disdain rap in any form, even with “Christian lyrics”. I listened to the Hillsong video that was posted in the article. I really liked that song - hadn’t heard it before. However, I suspect they are knocking it because it’s too tame.

It would be interesting if Jeremy had mentioned some more rock-like Christian artists like:
Jeremy Camp (The Way, Take My Life, Lay Down My Pride) or
Switchfoot (Dare You To Move, Dark Horses, Mess Of Me) or
Third Day (Make Your Move, Lift Up Your Face)

Try listening to any of these and read the lyrics. Outstanding music & rock solid Christian songs.

For example Jeremy Camp’s “The Way” is so uplifting — it sends me soaring every time I listen to it.

Good choices, especially Third Day.

Other favorites of mine include Casting Crowns, Kutless, Mercy Me, and Newsboys.

I'm starting to get into Shawn McDonald now too.

The song "Rise" is growing on me...

Bobby Bare did it best:

He’s even got a Bill Clinton reference in this live version. ;^)

Watching Jackie sends chills through me. I had no clue about her until a couple of months ago when some FReeper posted a link. I spent hours listening to her on Youtube.

If Jeremy Lin had mentioned her I don’t think Fuse would have reacted much differently than to his Hillsong reference...
