Ever heard of Ella Fitzgerald, or Frank Sinatra--or any of the other myriad of big band/jazz artists? Heck, even Linda Ronstadt had better pipes than Houston.
I must admit when I was at a Linda Ronstadt concert and she sang Desperado, it was a religious experience.

"You obviously haven't heard her Super Bowl Star Spangled Banner...."
Of course I heard it. Probably anyone on the internet saw it posted a thousand times as soon as she died.
She had an excellent voice and did a very good job on the anthem.

I saw the face of Whitney Houston in my breakfast burrito this morning. Further, I have heard that fifty patients in the local hospital cancer ward have been healed after watching the Houston funeral services.

Agree completely. The “soulful” versions of the Star Spangled Banner are awful and that’s what I thought the first time I heard one of them. And they were around long before Whitney Houston
