Three immigration officers were involved in a shootout at the Long Beach Federal Building Thursday evening, police said.
Two officers were pronounced dead at the scene and a third was sent to a nearby hospital, according to aerial communications from Long Beach Police.
The third victim, repeatedly referred to as a man, was reportedly shot in the upper body.
He is being treated at St. Mary's Medical Center, and his vital signs were positive, said Francine Marlenee, speaking on behalf of the hospital.
One of the agents is believed to be the suspected gunman, police said. But the suspect's condition was unknown.
The incident occurred shortly before 6 p.m.Thursday on the seventh floor of the building located at 501 W. Ocean Blvd., police said.
Initial reports described a shootout involving two people, including a U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officer.
More than a dozen police vehicles and at least two fire trucks lined the sidewalks surrounding the heavily-secured building.

I heard about an hour ago (7:15 PST) on the radio that the gunman was in custody. Not dead.

Information from law enforcement continued to change Thursday night in the situation surrounding a shootout at the Long Beach Federal Building earlier in the day.
U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement released a statement late Thursday claiming two of their agents were involved in a shootout at the Long Beach Federal Building shortly before 6 p.m.
It was unclear who shot whom, or what the relationship was between the victims.
A U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officer was pronounced dead at the scene and a second was sent to a nearby hospital, according to the statement.
Earlier aerial communications from Long Beach Police described three agents involved in the shooting, and reported that two of them were pronounced dead at the scene.

I’m guessing that “ICE’s Office of Professional Responsibility” is their name for an internal affairs dept., which would suggest that indications still are that one or more of their people probably did something they shouldn’ta done.

I’m thinking all LEOs are under DHnS. If so, then DHnS will determine the circumstances, who did what, and what info, if any, will be provided to the public.
From the looks of things, it seems a couple of ICE agents had a dispute, resulting in a gun battle, at the offICE. Or as some might venture, a wild west shootout at the OK corral, where things might not have been, exactly OK.
Whatever the case, this one will be a test to see how transparent, if at all, the DHnS is currently operating...who DHnS controls, and who DHnS doesn’t control.

I’m NOT surprised, actually. We’ve been preaching this from the rooftops for years...about those open borders...to no avail. Living this close to SD, IS disconcerting, however..
