In the workplace lunchroom, dominated by a Formica table stocked with a condiment cradle that holds four kinds of hot sauce, Nikki furrows her brow as she fishes into her purse and retrieves her driver's license. A resident of Riverside, Nikki is filling out some paperwork for her new job. "There's a lot of stuff they want to know," she says.
It's been a busy day for the former administrative assistant. "I flew in and saw the doctor before I even got here," she says. Dressed in "business casual," Nikki is an attractive 24-year-old African-American woman with a retro hairstyle reminiscent of Mary Tyler Moore on the actress's eponymous '70s sitcom. Speaking with a slight but charming lisp, Nikki notes that she can't work until she gets cleared by the authorities, and the doctor visit is the first part of that process. In the meantime, she says, "I'll stay here and get some training because I don't know anything. Tomorrow, I'll get my license at the sheriff's office, and then I can work."
Nikki is one step away from becoming a prostitute in one of Nevada's legal brothels.
She's the sole supporter of two small children and her mother, and the work is important to Nikki. "In the Inland Empire," she laments, "there are no jobs at all. I couldn't even get a job at McDonald's right now."
And so she's come to Moundhouse, Nevada, just east of Carson City, where four of the state's 28 brothels are located just off U.S. Route 50, a desolate track that cuts through a high plain of sage and scrub and is known as "the loneliest road in America."

I vaguely remember a story during Katrina of a lady going north to Memphis or somwhere and she justed started cleaning tables and such in a Waffle House. She walked in a said, “I need a job.” She was hired a day or 2 later. This woman is giving up way too easily.

Sounds like she’s making up excuses to do what she’s always wanted to do.

This is all very sad and depressing. I don’t think the economy can be blamed for all of this. When the economy is booming I’m sure that these places have young women choosing to work in them.
Maybe they'll teach her how it came to be that she become a mother 2 times.

I disagree; once illegal aliens are rampant, nobody is even looking for Americans for most work (they STRONGLY prefer illegals). Also, companies like McDonalds have a huge number of (probably legal) immigrants; they seem to prefer them to Americans in my area. I kid you not, there is NO work in some parts of this country (of any kind); somebody posted a while back about seeing Americans (white & black) panhandling with signs about looking for work while a short distance away fast food restaurants were staffed exclusively by Hispanics.
See # 25; a lot of jobs now are “Americans need not apply”. They’re not only for illegal aliens, but also legal immigrants as well.

It's the Republicans in congress that are stymieing our Dear Leader from bringing about the socioeconomic changes needed to avoid this poor woman's plight.
I know a young woman - absolutely beautiful, smart, sexy... who can’t get a job and has turned to working as an “escort.” She doesn’t have any kids to support but she does have to have a roof over her head. For awhile she’d live with guys she met in bars but eventually those deals fell through and she’d end up on my couch again. Once she took a job as a housekeeper in a hotel but couldn’t make enough to pay rent. In time she got tired of dating guys and hoping for a lasting relationship so she finally took this latest step. She doesn’t sleep with all the men she goes out with but they all pay for her time anyway. After watching the whole process, I can’t conmemn her. Besides, I sold my body and mind for money for nearly fifty years to pay my bills. What’s the big difference?
There was a made for TV movie with Jennifer Love Hewitt a few years ago about this topic. All I had to say was WOW!!!

Whites and Blacks panhandling for jobs (will work for food) are not serious about working.
If you follow the link and read the article, you’ll find that these women are all making several thousand dollars a week as prostitutes. Whatever other skill sets they may or may not possess, it’s unlikely that they could find a straight job that would yield the same income. Unfortunately, I doubt if many of them truly realize what a short term career they have entered. In a few years most of them will no longer be attractive enough to continue in this profession. What will they do then?

Bosses of otherwise legitimate businesses (from retail to resorts) are recruiting and grooming young women to be prostitutes. We’ve been regulated to become a devolving cesspool of a country. Our economic collapse process is certainly the result of moral bankruptcy for decades. Look around you, at the many kinds of legalized activities that were once crimes. How many people do you see making a useful product?
Those of you who are libertines, disregard the message and proceed to consequences. Those of you who aren’t, prepare and protect yourselves and your loved ones.

Essentially, the mother is whoring out her daughter to live off of. I know, it doesn’t say the grandmother approved of her daughter doing this, but the daughter is selling her body and giving the money to her mother.
And I just finished reading about how bad a candidate Santorum was because republicans do better when they embrace libertarian ideals.
The house cleaning business is totally Hispanic here Northern Virginia. So is the garden business and if you look in the restaurant kithchens you’ll see Hispanics washing the dishes. I was bemused to see Hispanics in the kitchen in Korean restaurant recently. Illegals are preferred by employers here.
