Top GOP Senator Says ‘If Romney Loses Michigan, We Need a New Candidate’
ABC News ^ | February 17, 2012

A prominent Republican senator just told me that if Romney can’t win in Michigan, the Republican Party needs to go back to the drawing board and convince somebody new to get into the race.

“If Romney cannot win Michigan, we need a new candidate,” said the senator, who has not endorsed anyone and requested anonymity.

The senator believes Romney will ultimately win in Michigan but says he will publicly call for the party to find a new candidate if he does not.

“We’d get killed,” the senator said if Romney manages to win the nomination after he failed to win the state in which he grew up.

“He’d be too damaged,” he said. “If he can’t even win in Michigan, where his family is from, where he grew up.”

What about Rick Santorum?

“He’d lose 35 states,” the senator said, predicting the same fate for Newt Gingrich.

It would have to be somebody else, the senator said. Who?

“Jeb Bush,” the former Florida governor.

He's the one with the irredentist Mexican wife and the crack head daughter.

Jeb would be a disaster of the first order.

“Jeb Bush,”

The hell it will. They'll have to convince 1.144 delegates on the convention floor to do that.

And that will NOT happen.

I think the light is dawning on the RINOs that Romney is a turkey, and that unless they can come up with another RINO they can force to the top quickly, then there will be a brokered convention, and *horrors*, it will almost certainly nominate a *real* conservative.

So what's the over/under on these RINOs stepping into the fray?

We do need a Newt party and we need Newt to lead it. If Newt wins, the Republican party will be on it’s way to becoming the new party.

Sadly, too apt. But hey, Santo has only been married once. He must be better. Kind of like Romney -- a good family man. That's what we need in the White House, dammit!

Godspeed Newt Gingrich.

If Newt wins, the Republican party will be on it’s way to becoming the new party.

At least there'd be a chance that that could happen, and Newt's pretty well seasoned at doing that kind of stuff.

With Santorum, we'd get more "compassionate" big government conservatism, and the Republican party would become identified as the Church Lady party.

With Romney, the test would be one from God. Vote for a man who used his office to sanction and promote Gay Youth Pride, practically the 21st century Poster Boy in neon lights of biblical leading children into sin, deviant and sick no matter how you spin it, this same man who created a system where taxpayers are forced to subsidize $50 on-demand abortions. Evil begets evil -- you may end up being tempted to vote for a man who has nourished and fed that kind of depravity. If that man became elected by us to our nation ... how could any one of us not weep and cringe when asking God to bless America? Why should we expect God to not to abandon such cowardly people?

Or, in God's test, you could vote such that Obama won a second term, and live in a country where people were willing to risk that over rationalizing a moral deal with the devil. And I truly believe that God would smile on us and come to our aid in one of His miraculous ways. When we asked Him to bless America, He might be more inclined to hear us.

For me, God comes before country so if it's Romney vs. Obama, my vote would be recorded as going to another candidate, I don't know who, and it probably wouldn't much matter, but as long as the numbers showed that whoever won has piss poor support.

We have such a good candidate now, a uniquely qualified guy that only God could place at so perfect a historical juncture, and with another little test of Christian pride.

I really wish people would compare, side by side, all of the info, from the details to the big picture, of this and this.

But in just the same way a shocking number of self-proclaimed "professionals" never actuallly read their emails and waste untold time and cause untold arguments because of it, a shocking number of people won't take the time to actually read and analyze and compare the actual, stated positions of Santorum and Gingrich.

Now Santorum has joined with Romney in declining the CNN debate for Georgia. The spin is "Hey, that's great, they're telling CNN where to stick it!" Yeah. Right. The fact that it was Georgia had nothing to do with it.

I hope Newt Gingrich creams both of their chickensh*t chump asses. And I REALLY hope that Santorum supporters have the fortitude to actually read Gingrich's plan, with all its flaws, and then read Santorum's page, see his priorities, notice things he leaves out.

Godspeed Newt Gingrich.

LOL well filing is very very closed. If Santorum wins the majority of delegates that’s not a g-damn thing this alleged anonymous Senator (and rocket scientist, more than 15 states are safe R unless maybe we nominate someone named Bush) can do about it.

If a Senator really said this he should come out of the closet and tell us his name rather than hiding like a little female dog.

GREAT graphic, Phil!

So.........Adelson pledged another $10mil for Newt’s Super PAC. He doesn’t like Santorum and is willing to spend up to $25mil on Newt.

It appears to me that there are some high powered people who would like a brokered convention. I can’t say that I’m opposed to that...no siree...however, stay out da’ Bushes!!!

Christie, he included you because you wrote a very good post! Thank you for your comment. ;o)
