Santorum: Freedoms are at stake in presidential election
The Middletown Journal ^ | 2/17/2012 | Justin McClelland

Posted on 02/17/2012 7:48:38 PM PST by FresnoRobert

“We have to look at the root cause of why the economy is struggling as much as it is,” Santorum said. “Government intervention. Government regulation. Government taxation. Government is crushing and destroying the American spirit and the American free enterprise system.”

Santorum said that government spending was impinging on personal freedoms and ultimately chipping away at what made the country great.

“When the government gets as big as it’s gotten and starts to take over more of your life, then you get smaller as the individual, you get weaker, you lose control over your lives. You lose the rights that were guaranteed you. That is what’s at stake here.”

So are the santorumaniacs going to stick with him when he runs with Romney? The dastardly duo are betting they will. It is so obvious, do people really think that these two, who are very close in the polls, would pass up a debate before super Tuesday, to shred each other? Voting for Santorum will get you Romney/Santorum.

You say yourself that Rick would prefer not to have Romney on the ticket. The rest is just conjecture. Buzz is not fact but lets just pretend that happens. There is not a person running who would would do different, including Newt. Newt would be first in line. Rick at least has core beliefs. Welcome to politics. You’ve heard the saying politics makes strange bedfellows right? The fact is that Rick is in it to win it. That is NOT corruption. Newt would pair with Romney in a hot second if he knew that he would be relevant and in power again.

You obviously don’t know that there is a debate in Arizona on the 22nd. I believe that qualifies as BEFORE super Tuesday. Don’t worry, Rick will win that debate just like he did the last two.

I’m sticking with the GOP ticket regardless of who is on it. I presume you’re voting for Obama?

Yadda-yadda-yadda

In his career in Washington DC, the pro-big spending Santorum, as Congressman, sponsored or co-sponsored 50 spending bills, for a total of $53 billion increase of government spending.

Not to mention the $3.5 billion of earmarks he included in the budget over the years ...

Facts speak louder than words. Words are cheap.

No doubt Rick wouldn’t mind having a reliable source of income.

At least he didn’t create new departments in the Federal government, or elevate the EPA to Cabinet level or vote for the Clean Water Act like another candidate did. How is that for some facts? He also wasn’t dumb enough to buy into global warming, TARP and the need for Ffederally mandated healthcare. Those trump earmarks big time. Buy the way, earmarks are a pittance compared to entitlement spending. Rick led the fight for Welfare Reform in the Senate.

I post all of this knowing full well your many and constant postings outlining your hatred of Rick, your willingness to say anything about him because you believe the ends justify the means. That is why I will ignore any further posts by you.

What about the freedom not to be forced to belong to a union and pay dues to in order to work that this CHUMP lawyer voted against?

This SOB is just below the Bishop from Planet Kolob on the BS meter

Saint Rick should stick to this theme and be more aggressive; I still though think our little Republican primary voters will prefer Romney. Hope I am wrong

Just imagine if every Senator from the 100, did the same as Santorum, the government spending would have increased with a whopping $5.3 trillion!

Which is exactly the rising federal deficit under Obama’s watch!

I think Romney said recently that he would consider Santorum for VP.

The gop-e are confortable with Rick. I have not seen them go all out to defeat Rick like they did Newt. He probably is not a threat to their power.

Rick is probably much better than Myth. However, I am not convinced he is a strong fiscal conservative. I also think he is a big government type. He will preserve the status quo in Washington. That I think is why those who depend on the gravy train are not so much against him. He is probably not going to do anything drastic to rock the boat.

Newt on the other hand, could possibly do something large, as he has big ideas. Or as Rick said, Newt has grandiose ideas. I think this is a time for grandiose ideas, to change the course of the country from the brink of fiscal ruin and mediocrity. It is not the time for timidity, business as usual, "protect the gravy train of the elite" and the unions. It is not the time to slow the decline, but to reverse the course.

We now have a government with more power because of the rise of electronic information technology. The power of the microchip has become their weapon against us.

Rick would need someone with knowledge/brilliance - because he’s a flipping moron!

He’s always saying what the problem is - I say SHUT UP, IDIOT! We know what the problem is - how will you fix it? He doesn’t have a clue or some pie in the sky unworkable plan. RS is no visionary, all he’s capable of seeing is the Oval Office.

There is NO WAY he could deal with other foreign leaders - NEVER!

I agree. Now, it is obvious and, IMO, not hidden at all. Newt IS the man FOR America. Why can’t some see it? I really cannot see those voters who are not for Newt as pro American. We are fortunate to have him and have him run!

Politicians are more about pack mentality - you do for me and I’ll do for you. But I would think voters would be more about America and the best one for America. I believe they allow themselves to be swayed by others rhetoric and unable to think for themselves.

The moral bromides are very effective which is troubling. I get the impression there’s no confidence concerning the ability to uphold common morality at the civil ranks, and as such, ‘the free and the brave’ would rather assign that responsibility to a politician. That said, the candidate must be Conservative, must be Pro-Life — a given without the indignant fanfare that’s meant to counter the egregious violations of the current jackass in chief.

I’ll take a pass on the wholesome imagery, and righteous, fist-pumping banality. Just give me someone who knows WTF they’re doing. In my opinion, that someone is Mr McGingrich.
