Former Va. Rep. Virgil Goode announces presidential bid (Third Party)

Virgil Goode Jr. may have served six terms as a Republican congressman from Virginia, but he now feels he can best effect change as the Constitution Party’s candidate for president.

In a brief interview with The Daily Caller, Goode said his platform consists of four planks: limited government, border security, rapidly adopting a balanced budget and enacting term limits.

“If I’m fortunate enough to get the nomination of the Constitution Party, I will take as many votes from Obama as I would from the Republican nominee,” he said.

I wouldn’t worry too much about Goode though. With the speed that anti-Romney votes shift from one leader to the next, I’d say that voters are determined to stop the silly games which have divided us in the past. At least until the man with a secret middle name is out the door.

if Romney is the nominee, my family's votes go elsewhere.

Why not, it worked for Clinton - twice!

If nothing else, it will be fun to hear the news readers credit Baraq with a “Clintonian plurality win”

In 2004 and ‘08, I voted for Constitution Party presidential candidates. During both years, I thought that the republican nominees were too liberal, and I knew that the democrat nominees would easily win my state, Illinois. In 2012, Illinois is a swing state, and I don’t want to help split the anti-Obama vote, helping Obama win IL, with about 49% of the vote. I’ll vote for the republican nominee, and I hope that all swing state voters, who don’t support Obama, will do the same.

I plan on voting for the Republican even if it’s someone I don’t like.

But I don’t agree that Illinois will be a swing state. If the vote is close here then Obama will be losing in a landslide nationwide.

Illinois will be a swing, since Republicans did well, in IL, in 2010. We elected a Republican to the U.S. Senate, to replace a retiring Democrat. IL Republicans got a net gain of four seats, in the U.S. House. Republicans gained seats in the state senate and state house.

>Sounds like he’s got a RonPaul foreign policy plank, if any. <

Sounds like you don’t know bupkis about the man. Congressman Goode would never let the United States go undefended, but he sure wouldn’t encourage the kind of crap we’ve had going on under the current nitwit in the White House. And, he’d repeal Obamacare before he had been in office an hour.

He was my congressman. He’s one of the most conservative people in this nation.

I see no mention or consideration of a foreign policy plank here.

And I see no mention that Goode would adopt the same laissez-faire stance held by Paul, either.
