A prominent Republican senator just told me that if Romney cant win in Michigan, the Republican Party needs to go back to the drawing board and convince somebody new to get into the race. If Romney cannot win Michigan, we need a new candidate, said the senator, who has not endorsed anyone and requested anonymity. The senator believes Romney will ultimately win in Michigan but says he will publicly call for the party to find a new candidate if he does not. Wed get killed, the senator said if Romney manages to win the nomination after he failed to win the state in which he grew up. Hed be too damaged, he said. If he cant even win in Michigan, where his family is from, where he grew up. What about Rick Santorum? Hed lose 35 states, the senator said, predicting the same fate for Newt Gingrich. It would have to be somebody else, the senator said. Who? Jeb Bush, the former Florida governor.

Heh...the stupid GOP-E still doesn't get it, and never will.
Drop the “if”.
And drop RINOmney, the vapid dork.
It tells me that at least some in the GOP are more interested in defeating conservatives than they are in defeating Obama.
The crap about not being able to win without a RINO is noting more than cover.
Time to have a long talk with the GOP. They usually wait till after the election before they start chucking bricks at conservatives.
If they nominate Bush...I am done with the GOP. Too many in that party take their marching orders from the mainstream media...who are not our friend.
A combative conservative will win...I don’t know if Santorum has the nerve to take on the liberal media and the Obama administration...Newt does.
I live in Michigan and know I will vote for one or the other in a few days...I keep going back and forth.
probably mcpain.
He is saying just what most are saying here.
Newt is flawed, all the women hate Rick, so that leaves Mitt or a dark horse.
In other words, the GOP is going to lose (according to the conventional wisdom).
Time for them to start their own party of limp-wristed "moderates" and see how many elections they win.
Do you know of any unemployed Generals that can't stand Zero?
Well, let’s start with the Bushophiles: Hutchison, Cornyn.
Could be McLettuce, too.
The GOP establishment speaks.
Probably some RINO scumbag from the Northeast.
Their next try is Jeb Bush or CHris Christie.
MEANWHILE:

The bloated windbag Islamophile masquerading as a real Republican who once said he would categorically VETO a queer marriage bill, NOW is waffling.
Chris Christie - the PERFECT RINO candidate for them!!
Agree, one the reasons we have nobama!
“probably mcpain.”
I don’t think so. He wouldn’t suggest Jeb Bush. He’d suggest HIMSELF.
:-)
In reality, the conservative powers that be are all in favor of a ‘brokered convention’, because almost certainly the result will be a serious conservative. RINOs will be marginalized.
Out of the 2,286 delegates, at least 60% or better are going to be conservatives, and a very hard nosed lot at that. And to muster a majority, 1,144, is going to be harder than winning the presidency.
The nominee is not just going to get away with b.s. like H.W. Bush did with his “no new taxes” pledge. He will have to put what is demanded of him *in writing*, and he is going to have A LOT demanded of him.
A lot of wannabees will drop out after seeing that list. And any congresscritters who support a candidate are going to have to sign on that dotted line as well, that they will vote down the line, and not obstruct, the conservative agenda.
My own top 10 list of what I think should be demanded of the conservative nominee:
1) With congress, reform the office of the presidency to eliminate unconstitutional practices like presidential signing statements, Czars, recess appointments, executive privilege, and other things.
2) Restore the 4th Amendment, consolidate many of the 100+ federal police agencies, stripping police powers from non police agencies. Restoration of the War Powers and Posse Comitatus Acts.
3) Create a process to systematically dismantle unconstitutional government agencies, eliminate vast amounts of bureaucratic regulations, abolish Obamacare and move the US back to a private health care system. Restore most of taken state lands to their individual states.
4) Restructure Social Security to eventually phase it out for everyone but minimum wage workers with no other form of retirement. Then privatize their trust fund.
5) Finally push through serious balanced budget and line item veto amendments to the constitution.
Not bad for a first term.
Why is flawed used for Newt and not the other candidates? Newt has already proven accomplishments for America - that's why the rino's and liberals went after him. He's IS the one that isn't flawed! And the only candidate who has solutions and the very best solutions for America.
I’m not too concerned with what this “Senator” thinks. After all, his guy is obviously Romney, and he likely figured Romney would easily get the nomination, but now he’s turning out to be very wrong.
So, we should trust his judgment going forward, when he can’t even figure out the political dynamics within his own party? Nah.
I think we the gay marriage supporting GOP-elite is tacitly supporting Obama and the socialists.
Why else would they keep voting for Obama’s trillion dollar deficits each year?
strike “we” - that was a typo!
spot on......
“If Romney loses in Michigan we need a new candidate”
Attibute that quote to a MSM source ABC’s Johnathan Karl.
If Karl cannot attribute the source for the quote he is claiming an unidentified source made then assume Mr Karl is doing some “creative reporting “ Consider the source is another ABC whore working for the Demo-Coms masquerading as an objective journalist.
Everyone on this board needs to get with a small group of friends on a regular basis between now and the election and discuss the possible collapse of this nation unless we get on the same track. It’s time for a bloodless (hopefully) war to take back the country. Every facet of your life will be monitored and dictated if we stand by and do nothing. These are serious times.
It's just “spin.” All candidates are “flawed;” in that they are imperfect. Ronald Reagan was “flawed.” (He was old and divorced; just to name a few.)
The term “imperfect” isn't used because those who use this technique believe it is not “bad” enough; so, “flawed” is used because that sounds worse and it helps to “isolate” Newt as the one “flawed” candidate and sets Newt up for then for “ridicule.”
Read Alinsky’s “Rules for Radicals” “isolate” and “ridicule” are part of the tactics specified within those rules that are used to defeat an opponent. This type of “spin” has nothing to do w/honesty or accuracy; it has EVERYTHING to do with WINNING AT ALL COSTS.

Newt is flawed...
That is a stupid analysis of Newt offered up by Romney’s liberal supporters who are the most flawed of them all.
I have mentioned this on other threads, but there is credible information that a Santorum/Romney or Romney/Santorum ticket is in the works. The only thing being worked out in the primaries is who will be at the top of the ticket.
GOP insiders in PA, as well as some comments from Foster Freiss,(Santorum money backer who supported Romney in 2008) are pointing in that direction. The GOP E is pushing this to avoid a brokered convention. By combining their delegates, they can easily reach 1144, unless Newt pulls out a miracle.
I am an unapologetic Newt supporter, but I find it disturbing that so mny people who are voting for a Not Romney candidate, may have him stuffed down their throats anyway.
It’s tough to tell what is more believable these days, Politics or Wrestling.
Neither of those was his fault. Old age catches up with everyone, and Jane Wyman was unfaithful.
The headline alone should motivate conservatives in Michigan to get out and vote and to bring others with them.
Speaking of “anonymous cowards”, how about we all post under our real names and give our addresses out too ?
Well said Windy City Conservative. We do have a right to know who this coward is. Maybe it’s McCain LOL.
Right on. I saw that Christie decided to veto the queer “marriage” bill - not on the grounds that it isn’t marriage and of course not on the grounds that it is WRONG. No, Christie said that it should be left to the people of the state of NJ to vote on.
So if the people of New Jersey all vote that perverts can “marry” animals - that’s ok.
Just another example of faux leadership devoid of fixed principles. Morality is determined by majority vote.

True - and be prepared for the tyrant to try to quell our ability to communicate so that “tea parties” and such gathering do not abate his evil.
We’re trying to do what you have wisely suggested t http://www.cbPatriot.com
We need many more people than the current approximately 100 currently participating across the US.
Which is more believable...politics or wrestling?
Wrestling.
I greatly admire the late President Reagan. Pls understand; I am just trying to illustrate a concept; that even our best presidents had flaws; as we all do. It is a condition of being human. It is also true that what one person views as a flaw may not be viewed as a flaw by another; since we all have different views and opinions.
While you and I may not consider the things I listed as flaws of President Reagan, I can assure you that many did and he was criticized during his campaigns because of this. Sadly, politics is never “fair” or “honest.” It is what it is.
Take care,
-Geoff
LOL! And wrestling has a lot more entertainment value without the angst!
We’ve got one. Santorum!
I seem to grow more frustrated as the Political Season goes on.
Two women were talking politics in the checkout line the other day and when I heard one of them mention Newt’s Baggage I kinda lost it.
I said, “Excuse me mam, but Newt Gingrich has and energy plan that would make T. Boone Pickens weep with joy and every American standing in an unemployment line cheer. He’s the only candidate who has proven he can balance a budget. If you’ve got an hour, I can go on. He was exonerated on the charges made by his political enemies and forgiven for anything else by the Lord Jesus Christ. If that brilliant man has any other bags he needs carrying, I am available for the next eight years and I will gladly carry them , free of charge, and will consider it an Honor to do so!”
Wow! GOOD FOR YOU!!! What was their response?
Correct. He missed the point. If there are 20 important items on a conservative agenda, I will not agree with 2 of them. (or at least not care) That puts me in the line of fire. No matter who you thnk is the best candidate, that person is going to get slammed, even on this site.

Excellent.
I think every Freeper could educate half a dozen potential voters a day!
Bravo, bravissimo.
Well, after they picked their jaws up off the checkout counter, they actually started stammering things like, “Well, you know we could do a lot worse. He would sure be better than what we’ve got now.”
One of them asked me what I thought of Santorum. I said, Well the only problem I have with him is that I still don’t know what Rick proposes to do that would solve any of the major problems in our country. Do you?” She laughed and said, “Well, I don’t either.”
They were both very nice, but boy would I have loved to be an invisible passenger in their car on the way home.
Getting people to think based on issues, instead of feelings or emotions is more than half the battle.
Good to hear from you!
Good girl Hope you spoke loudly enough many people heard you.
Like Newt says, “People Power!”
I posted this on another thread, replying to someone who was talking about Newt’s “baggage”. I’m copying it for you here:
If at 68, a man has not baggage, that means his life was empty and his achievements were nil.
Talk about a baggage:
10 uninterrupted terms serving in the House of Representatives (1979 - 1999)
The House Republican Minority Whip (1990 - 1994)
The first Republican Speaker of the House in 40 years (1995-1999)
Author of 23 books, including Lessons Learned the Hard Way (1998), Winning the Future: A 21st Century Contract with America (2005), Rediscovering God in America (2006), and To Save America: Stopping Obamas Secular-Socialist Machine (2010). He also co-wrote an alternative history series on the Civil War and World War II.
In 2003 he founded the Center for Health Transformation to develop a 21st century healthcare system that is centered on the individual.
Served on the Hart-Rudman Commission, formally known as the U.S. Commission on National Security/21st Century
Gingrich has taught at the United States Air Forces Air University, where he is the longest-serving teacher of the Joint Flag Officer Warfighting Course.
Honorary Distinguished Visiting Scholar and Professor at the National Defense University where he teaches officers from all of the defense services.
Guiding coalition member of the Project on National Security Reform.
Created the production company Gingrich Productions, and religious educational organization Renewing American Leadership.
Fellow at conservative American Enterprise Institute and Hoover Institution.
Quite a baggage indeed!
I’m told my voice carries. It comes from being the youngest of six.:)
Beautiful! I didn’t see that on your other post, it is impossible to get to all the good stuff on FR. Thanks so much for sharing. What an Inspiration!
