COLUMBUS, Ohio White House candidate Rick Santorum on Saturday questioned President Barack Obamas Christian values and attacked GOP rival Mitt Romneys Olympics leadership as he courted tea party activists and evangelical voters in Ohio, ground zero in the 2012 nomination fight.
Santorum, a former Pennsylvania senator known for his social conservative policies, said that Obamas agenda is not about you. Its not about your quality of life. Its not about your jobs. Its about some phony ideal. Some phony theology. Not a theology based on the Bible. A different theology.
Obama campaign deputy press secretary Ben Labolt said Santorums comment was the latest low in a Republican primary campaign that has been fueled by distortions, ugliness, and searing pessimism and negativity.
Even as he criticized Obama, Santorum also went after one of Romneys most promoted achievements his leadership at the 2002 Olympic Winter Games in Salt Lake City.
One of Mitt Romneys greatest accomplishments, one of the things he talks about most is how he heroically showed up on the scene and bailed out and resolved the problems of the Salt Lake City Olympic Games, Santorum said. He heroically bailed out the Salt Lake City Olympic Games by heroically going to Congress and asking them for tens of millions of dollars to bail out the Salt Lake games in an earmark, in an earmark for the Salt Lake Olympic games.

a mooslum does not have Christian values..

FReepmail Antoninus to be added or removed.
How can you distort the Kenyan's Muslim faith?
what values?
If religion is...
...(a) off-limits or uncouth in some way;
...or (b) should be hermetically sealed from what constitutes "character"...
...then go ahead..."religion doesn't matterites" & the self-appointed "bigot patrol" are hereby invited...
...to come onboard this thread & go on the indirect defense of Obama on this thread by...
...attacking Santorum...
...plus lecturing posters to lay off bringing up "Christian values" and whether Obama has them or not.
Go on.
Be consistent (for some of you -- for a change).
Show that you're not a hypocrite after all.
Let's see those single-minded convictions about keeping beliefs & religion out of this race come out re: your even application of them across the board.
What? Few takers? What? You're going to prove yourself to be hypocrites, after all?
I wholeheartly agree with Rick Santorum, only I go much further!!! Barack Hussein Obama is no Christian of any sort. He is one of two things, either an non-believer in God as worshipped in any type of Christian religion, or.....a devout Muslim!!! IMHO, I side with Obama and his wife, Michelle being outright atheists. The only God they believe in is themselves. End of story!!!
Lets see.
Christians protect the unborn/BHO aborts them
Christians cherish children/BHO thinks its punishment
Christians care for the less fortunate/BHO envies the more fortunate. Envy is a sin.
BHO endangers Christians in Egypt, Libya, Syria, and Kurdistan
The MSM has no problem with Obama throwing around partisan, ideological rhetoric at the national prayer breakfast, but real Christians better not dare call him out on his opportunistic distortions and deception.
Good.
It is past time that the phoney baloney good time rocken roller always on vacation during the Muslim holy days Obama is challenged.
I am sick of the left saying we can’t question a persons patriotism or faith.
Only God knows his heart, but we sure can question his actions that have gone contrary to Christianity and Patriotism. Let the war games begin!
“Santorum has said that he wouldnt try to take away the birth control pill or condoms but that states should be free to ban them. He told a Christian blog last year that as president he would warn the nation about the dangers of contraception and the permissive culture it encourages. Hes also questioned whether women should be in combat and said that radical feminists have undermined the traditional family by convincing women that professional accomplishments are the key to happiness.”
Other than promising NOT to take away birth control pills or condoms, I’m trying to figure out why any conservative should have an issue with Rick. The rest of the above sounds just fine.
I have always said Faith and Reason can never be separated. Atheists say it has to be-—but they live by faith in their failed system, also, but unlike Christians who gladly state their faith....Atheists lie and say “faith” is “irrational” although their lives are lived on faith of sick, twisted ideas such as Marxism.
All postmodernist’s thinking is irrational—that you can compartmentalize human beings and take away the moral nature from man (Stalin’s idea of “separation of church and state”).
You can not have a complete human being—a flourishing one by removing either the rational element or the moral one. That is what constitutes the Nature of Man. Faith and Reason are designed to function together in all civil societies. Zero wants “Lord of the Flies”....godless world so they can create a termite colony of people.
Remove either faith or reason and you have a disaster (Libertarians need to wise up). It is why the USA was only possible during the window of The Age of Reason when God was not yet obliterated by the Marxists and Austins and Benthams.
As for Mormonism—there is no rational thinking involved in that ideology—which is so bizarre you have to wonder if Romney is insane. It is why I can’t vote for him—I guess you can say it is because of his religion, when I think of it as being about his rational abilities.
“The MSM has no problem with Obama throwing around partisan, ideological rhetoric at the national prayer breakfast, but real Christians better not dare call him out on his opportunistic distortions and deception.”
Correct. The MSM only thinks it is divisive when a Conservative candidate calls out the democrats and Obama. Basically they want to shut down the opposition. But Obama is not a christian, he’s following the radical theologies of Islam and liberation theology.
I question Obama’s Christian faith, and how devout he is, and wonder what his true theology is.
I know he says he’s Christian. But, every time I have heard him talk of his faith, he talks about how Christianity calls us to be “our brother’s keeper, and our sister’s keeper”. He says that tenets of Christianity such as this are what drew him to Christianity as an adult.
I question his faith because he completely misunderstands and misinterprets the Bible story in which Cain asks God “am I my brother’s keeper”, when God asked him where his brother Abel was, after Cain had killed Abel.
For Obama to cite this as his inspiration for Christianity, this misunderstood Bible story, makes one wonder how much of Christian theology he really understands.
Yes.
Tell me a candidate's position toward the "least of these" -- for example, preborns...where 1/3rd or more are slaughtered/dismembered in the most dangerous place to be alive on this planet (the womb)...
...and I know more than just where they stand on an abstract "social issue..."
...I then know a key to their character...like Romney's openly pro-abortion statements up thru May of 2005...(he supposedly "converted" on pro-life cause by November of '04!)...
...or Romney's pro-abortion political actions via RomneyCare (2006)...
...or Romney's pro-slaughter of embryos' statement he gave to Katie Couric in December of 2007...
ALL of those are "character" considerations...not simply "social issues' 'stuff'"
Likewise, vulnerability to deception in what's supposedly THE MOST important area of a person (his faith) IS a character issue...Guess what, ALL? Gullibility can't be compartmentalized from faith & other-worldly worldviews? Gullibility and lack of basic discernment bleeds over into some very important POTUS responsibilities!
Since Romney's faith has said a LOT of positive things about both Mohammed & Islam (see Mormonism: What the Latter Day Saints think of Islam [Indicator of how Mitt perceives Islam?]...
...and since Romney's faith has said a LOT of negative things about Christians & Christian sects (we're supposedly "apostates," a dead & false church, "corrupt professors ALL," the "church of the devil," and creedally abominable)...
...my rhetorical Q for all Romneybots or potential Romney voters is: Tell us how Romney would deal foreign policy wise with international Christians vs. international Muslims?
Tell us, why isn't Romney simply Obama lite on these considerations?
Matthew 7:16

- Obama signed "hate crimes" against those who speak the truth of homosexuality
Obama signs hate crimes bill into law
- Obama has signed into law legislation "legitimizing" homosexuality in the US military
- Obama is an agitator of covetousness and malice
- Obama has lied on thousands of occasions
- Obama has mocked the Bible
- Obama has twisted scripture such as Genesis 4:9 to justify Marxism, Communism, and government theft
Obama is not a Christian. Period. He is anathema to everything God's word has taught.
As they say here in the Antipodes, 'Good onya mate!' May I heartily second your comments.
If these FReepers who get their knickers in a twist over discussion of Mitt's religion now, how are they planning to shut the Obama campaign up when the whole world is blasted with the hilarity that is mormonism?
Is he describing Øbama or the ELCA?
Does Santorum really believe this is a winning political dialog? Gas prices are likely to hit $5 this summer and he wants to talk about Obama's Theology and the fact it's not based on the Bible?
I wholeheartedly agree with Santorum that Obama is not a Christian. But I also have an issue with Santorum and catholicism. Is catholicism really a Christian religion?
Think about it. Jesus never said we have to go through the chain-of-command to confess our sins to God. To the contrary. Jesus said the “kingdom of God is within you” (Luke 17:21).
Jesus did say, via his servant John, “If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness” [1 John 1:9]. But he never said we have to confess our sins to some politically-or-popularity-appointed mortal (like a priest or a pope) to be forgiven.
Under Santorum’s view of religion, the Mafia is instantly exonerated for murder when they confess to some unnamed priest.
Thanks, but NO THANKS, Santorum! Leave your self-righteous attitude at home. Run on your record!
No way Santorum will do that. He is a big government fiscal LIBERAL! I know that for a fact. He was my Senator in Pennsylvania. For example, check out his voting record for that failed boondoggle called AMTRAK. [For those ignorant of the role of AMTRAK, it’s sole purpose is to transport politicians and Washington insiders to and from their homes in neighboring states to Washington DC. Santorum, the consumate Crony-Capitalist, always voted for AMTRAK subsidies]. His fiscal voting record has been anti-conservative from day-one. His social voting record is not much better. He voted against “right-to-work”legislation. How communist can one get before he is exposed?
Only a fool would vote for Santorum. I will support Gringrich (whom I despise) any day over Santorum.
obama is a muslim communist—WAY beyond the puny ELCA.
Of course, ELCA pastors, parishes, and synods play the dilettante and invite muslims and communists into their facilities, and form alliances with them. Other liberal protestants and just plain liberals do the same.
But we cannot temporize with the enemy!!!!
Isn’t Gingrich a Catholic too. Or is he just “less” Catholic enough for you?
>>Isnt Gingrich a Catholic too. Or is he just less Catholic enough for you?<<
“Less Catholic” and “Less Crony-Capitalist” would be good credentials for any candidate running against “The Santorum”. Don’t you agree?
...Driftdiver (post #33: "Plenty of reasons to not like mittens. His religion has nothing to do with any of them.")...
...NavyCanDo (Post #41: "...plenty of reasons not to choose Romney as your candidate, but making his religion one of them, is small minded at best, bigoted at worse.")
...In light of my last post, c'mon in here and start lecturing Santorum & FREEPER posters about those who would dare bring Obama's religious beliefs into this POTUS race venue.
Why, we just know you wanna apply your convictions evenly across the board here.
Mariner just posted another similar thread to this one: Santorum says Obama agenda not "based on Bible"
And I've invited Driftdiver & NavyCanDo into both of these threads to come on in and indirectly defend/deflect these religious comments about Obama ... since they've done the same thing on behalf of another liberal, Mitt Romney!
Buckwheat is insane, and, like Hitler, he believes he has divisions on call to take to the streets and enthrone him as dictator for life in America.
Buckwheat’s big error is that there’s not enough “Jaws of Life” to pry fat welfare momma’s hand from the jumbo bag of chips. Until that gets done, they can’t charge off the couch to die on a hilltop for Buckwheat.
Now, where’s my two liter bottle of Coke? Burp.
Hey, Magritte, since you've indirectly deflected comments from Romney's theology thru other threads, let's see you do the same thing for yet another liberal, Obama...since Obama's (not Gingrich's) theology is what was questioned in this thread...
(You always seemed to have things turned around!)
Well, we're eagerly anticipating...starting defending Obama's theology!
We see you're off to a decent start on this thread as you've already tried to deflect the comments to Gingrich's Catholicism!
Welcome to the club Rick. Most of the rest of America already know Obama is a Muslim.
His father was a Muslim(If the Sr.Obama was his father) his stepdaddy was a Muslim, His Grandpappy’s best friend Frank Davis was an atheist Communist,Obama studied at a Madrassa, and loves the sound of the call to prayer.
If it looks like a Duck and walks like a Duck and Quacks like a Duck, you can bet your bippy, it’s a duck.
So you just want to order me around and do your bidding? no thanks
well I guess I could spend the rest of the night bringing you up to date on Christianity, but I'll just hit some of the highlights... first of all, the Catholic church is the ONLY true, complete Christian church on earth....all the others came along about 1,500 years after the founding of Catholicism. your accounting for the forgiveness of sins leaves out the admonition that "whose sins you forgive, they are forgiven and whose sins you shall retain, they are retained (the sacrament of reconciliation or penance. No the mafia just didn't have to list their sins to be forgiven, they, like all Catholics, must truly repent and ask God to forgive them. When one does not share in the truth of Catholicism, one tends to stray even further than they were when they accepted a protestant "denomination"....there are about 20,000 of them, take your choice!!!
I find it hard to believe that after Christ was resurrected that God allowed the the Church to thrive for thousands of years, and then say, ‘Oh wait, you guys have been doing it wrong. Here is Martin Luther’.
>>>first of all, the Catholic church is the ONLY true, complete Christian church on earth<<<
If one ignores the blatant corruption of the Catholic church “priesthood” and the coverup of their sins by the hierarchy, and if one ignores the legacy of indulgences, political appeasement and the Inquisition, then one might be fooled into believing the Catholic church is “Christian”.
PIYOSB
There’s certainly nothing Christian about abortion and forcing the Catholic Church to do something contrary to its teachings.
>>I find it hard to believe that after Christ was resurrected that God allowed the the Church to thrive for thousands of years, and then say, Oh wait, you guys have been doing it wrong. Here is Martin Luther.<<
Don’t forget John Calvin (and Galileo).
Jesus instructed us to “call no man your father upon the earth: for one is your Father, which is in heaven” [Matthew 23:9]. Therefore, is not anyone who calls the Pope “Father” denying Christ?
And why do we need a mediator between God and Christ, when Jesus is the mediator [1 Timothy 2:5]?
Frankly, I do not see the imposition by force of Catholicism on the masses over the centuries as justification for their claim to be the arbiters of Christianity. Rather, I see it more as a “falling away” from the principles of Christ and of St. Paul.
Obama is not a Christian.
Romney is not a Christian.
People have biological fathers; do you object to them being called “father” by their own children???
Many thanks for making my point.
>>>People have biological fathers; do you object to them being called father by their own children???<<<
If that is the best defense you have of catholicism, I suggest you surrender. It is all about context. Obviously a priest or pope is not our biological father, and he is certainly not our spiritual father. We have only one spiritual Father (Jesus) and one biological father (our Dad).
