Israel's Defense Minister Ehud Barak called on the international community Saturday to tighten sanctions even further on Iran, warning it is essential to halt the Islamic Republic's nuclear development activities.

Speaking to reporters in Tokyo following meetings with Prime Minister Yoshihiko Noda and other Japanese officials, Barak said, “I think there is consensus now in most of the world's capitals that Iran should not be allowed to become a military nuclear power.”

He added that at least in the West, and in North American, “no option should be removed off the table in regard to dealing with the threat” of Iran as a nuclear power.

“We feel the same,” Barak said. “We feel it is still a time for even more tight, ratcheted up sanctions against Iran, not only oil but sanctions against the central bank and removing its access to international clearing systems. This should be done definitively and without delay.”

Does an hour pass with out some high-ranking muckety muck or other saying something stupid about Iran? They cannot "cripple" Iran with sanctions, because they can grow their own food and manufacture their own products, and refine their own oil.

Money is as money does. So they’ll barter. So they’ll stop selling oil. So they’ll have an “oil for food” program. They can get all they need at home of everything.

It will be interesting to see what happens in early March as there is bound to be Face to Face meeting between Benjamin Netanyahu and Obama the first week of March as the AIPAC policy conference will be in Washington DC on March 3-6. You can bet that every pro Israel Congressman and Congresswomen and Senators will be in attendance as the conference is normally a Who’s Who in Washington. AIPAC being a Bipartisan group will also have invited Obama to speak. Will Obama show up to AIPAC? Or will he snub AIPAC I guess we know he will show.

G-D speed to Israel.

Any Freepers attending the 2012 AIPAC policy conference?
