An adviser to President Barack Obama's re-election campaign says GOP presidential candidate Rick Santorum went "well over the line" when he questioned Obama's Christian values.
Robert Gibbs tells ABC's "This Week" that it's time "to get rid of this mindset in our politics that, if we disagree, we have to question character and faith."

I remember wondering about that at the time. I had never thought much about it but it makes sense.
calling people demons and NAZI’s and accusing them of wanting to turn back civil rights isn’t crossing the line?
But didn’t 0bama just question all of our Christian values if we resist his wealth redistribution agenda? 0bama and his campaign are the biggest ever whiners.
Enough said is right. NOBODY says “My Muslim Faith”, unless they are one, nobody.
Anyone who supports abortion is not a Christian.
The left is now squealing about Republicans, who dare to keep bringing faith into politics, with nary a word about the left’s attempt to force itself into raping religion.
Meet them with force and keep bringing it. Their backwards politics need to be treated with the lack of respect they show themselves and their characters.
If Santorum doesn’t lose his Jimmy and keeps this up, he’ll be a shoe-in.
No, Rick didn’t go too far, he didn’t go far enough.
The president is a muslim.
No he didn’t and he is right........
Memo to Rick Santorum:
They are going to pressure you in unbelievable ways to apologize and back down.
DO NOT APOLOGIZE. DOUBLE DOWN.
Not only is Obama not a Christian, he’s not even an American.
(And I mean culturally, not literally. Don’t let them pull that “Birther” crap either.)
Obama supporters and Santorum supporters agree; this is a good thing to be talking about right now.
But if you disagree that Jesus was a big-government socialist who would support Democrat tax hikes and “charity” at the point of a gun, then it’s perfectly okay for Ubama to question your Christian values?
You can’t have it both ways, Gibbs.
What Christian values does Obama have? He seems to have Muslim values and a fat wife.
Reagan won b/c his message was simple and optimistic. Frankly, I agree with almost everything Rick says, but let’s not confuse the millions of dolts who were mis-educated by government schools. They must be brought along SLOWLY. Why transmit a million messages when a half dozen simple ones will suffice?? Bob
Obama is Jewish?
Crybaby Obama will lose easily (he’s a paper tiger) if this is all he has got!
Makes sense. They gave Hillary the SoS job as a face saving device to cool them out for the duration.
It does make the liberals unhappy now doesn’t it?
That means its a good thing.
He did great today on Face The Nation.
Msg to Obama supporter: F U!!!
Only Obama gets to cross the line.
They squeal loudly because they know, with a compliant media, that it will shut up their opponents.
So questioning Zer0’s Liberation Theology as being Christian? Robert Gibbs doesn’t know much if he doesn’t know anything about Liberation Theology.
It is true that the word, "theology," is a combination of the Greek theos (i.e. God) and the Greek logos (i.e. word); so theology, strictly speaking, is the study of the word of God. Which is to say, the study of religion in general.
But the term is sometimes uses a bit more loosely than that. For instance, I have occasionally spoken of the left's almost theological belief that the use of fossil fuels is sinful; and that America should not, therefore, drill for more domestic oil.
In this sense, "theological" simply refers to a broad belief system.
I believe it was in this sense that the term was used by Rick Santorum.
