While a fairly reasonable article, it fails to mention that handguns have required registration in Canada since 1934. In 1969, the cost of THAT registry was $6.9M/yr, and yet TO DATE not a single crime has been sloved using information from that database.
What a criminal waste of taxpayer dollars.

The problem isnt just with the long-gun registry. The data provided above cover all guns, including handguns. There is no evidence that, since the handgun registry was started in 1934, it has been important in solving a single homicide.
