Sheldon Adelson plays as stubbornly in politics as he does in business. So the criticisms that hes trying to personally buy the presidential election for Newt Gingrich are met with a roll of the eyes. Those people are either jealous or professional critics, Adelson tells me during his first interview since he and his wife began funneling $11 million, with another $10 million injection widely expected, into the former speakers super PAC, Winning Our Future. They like to trash other people. Its unfair that Ive been treated unfairbut it doesnt stop me. I might give $10 million or $100 million to Gingrich.
Adelson, 78, certainly can afford to: With a net worth of roughly $25 billion, that $11 million, which jolted Gingrichs flatlining presidential bid back to life, equates to 0.044% of his fortune. For someone with a $1 million net worth, the equivalent would be $440, or a two-night stay at Adelsons Venetian casino. Adelson could personally fund an entire presidential campaignsay, $1 billion or soand not even notice. Sheldon Adelson Could Give $1 Billion To Gingrich And Not Notice.
Is that fair? Im against very wealthy people attempting to or influencing elections, he shrugs. But as long as its doable Im going to do it. Because I know that guys like Soros have been doing it for years, if not decades. And they stay below the radar by creating a network of corporations to funnel their money. I have my own philosophy and Im not ashamed of it. I gave the money because....

But as long as its doable Im going to do it. Because I know that guys like Soros have been doing it for years, if not decades. And they stay below the radar by creating a network of corporations to funnel their money. I have my own philosophy and Im not ashamed of it. I gave the money because there is no other legal way to do it. I dont want to go through ten different corporations to hide my name. Im proud of what I do and Im not looking to escape recognition.

WOOT!!!! Love this man!
God bless Sheldon Adelson!
If there is no still-valid, stupid rule that forbids him to do this... that’s what I’d be deathly afraid of... then go go go go go go GO Mr. Adelson! That would give Newt (or Newt’s super-PAC boosters) a budget that could effectively counter the Romney sh*tstorms.
The way he could immunize himself (and more importantly, Newt) from such criticisms is to announce that he will match the highest fundraiser among the remaining candidates. So if Romney raises $5M, Adelson writes a check to Newt’s Super PAC for the same amount.
That said, Newt needs a lot more than that to properly counter all the mud Romney has already been slinging at him...
Hey, then at least he and Soros will find themselves on the same side. And after all that tooting about wanting to oppose Soros’ financial levers.
bullshite...I stayed there 3 nights last summer at the Palazzo...an adjunct to the Venetian.... 750 per night for two rooms...for both...220/night ain't happening less Shatner books it

My friend, rather than post an article with a 3rd party’s meanderings about potential Adelson motivations, why not read the article posted and judge Mr. Adelson by his own words.
Good for him.
Im against very wealthy people attempting to or influencing elections, he shrugs. But as long as its doable Im going to do it
fits in good with newt...im against it but hell ill do it anyway
So Adelson gives money to Newt to Help Mittens. Mittens scorched earth left a bad taste in everyone mouth and his funds are drying up. Mittens went crying to Adelson looking for a hand out.
How much money did Adelson give Mittens. Nothing.
If mittens loses Michigan its over if he dont tap his own personal wealth.
Ping!
If I hadd all of that money, I’d buy myself a politician too!
Good news!!!
Sure would have helped a lot a few months ago, but we’ll see what the SuperPAC can do with it now.
GO NEWT!
Fight for us and our Republic!
I’m sure he’s more sick of being shut out than we are of him being shut out!
Keep the faith and don’t stop praying!
Thank you, Sheldon Adelson!
I don’t get Adelson exactly, but glad to hear he can keep Newt alive through Super Tuesday for sure, and that Mitt Romney is said to be down to $7 million. Given those two theses, it says Adelson does not expect to ever have to give a red cent to Ron Paul, and that if he cares a whit for Mitt Romney, while Newt has been been pulverized, and Romney in a cash crunch, he would be cashing up Mitt Romney. That he is not lifting a finger to revive the campaign cash for Myth is obvious.
What makes me crazy is he said none of his money can be used in negative ads!! Wish he would get real on that point! And he left Newt too long in a financial wilderness during Florida, while watching Romney’s $20 million dollar effort to destroy him.
I know, I shouldn’t look a gift horse in the mouth, especially when he has no interest in Rick Santorum or Mitt Romney, unless they sweat flopped into the nomination, which is not likely in either case as things are shaking out. :)
Newt has turned Romney’s manipulation and negative ads over to the legal team. They will handle the FL challenge at convention (BTW how did Paul come out in Maine Sat)
The lawyers are also dealing with the false ads from the threat of “knowingly playing false advertising” which can get license pulled. IIRC.
Instead of fighting back directly at Mitt, he’s attacking his actions, which is much more successful.
Romney still won Maine by 156 votes or thereabout.
“I might give $10 million or $100 million to Gingrich.”
I’d say that looks like good news.
President Newt Gingrich—”Our beloved republic deserves nothing less.”
THen their delegates should be about equal.
Is this the Trump situation?
I LOVE seeing this Orthodox, religious, Conservative REAL Jew taking on the secular, self-hating, Communist Jew-In-Name-Only (JINO) Soros. Bless you, Mr. Adelson.
mee too
I’ve been living under a rock. I never heard of him. I know of Warren Buffet and Bill Gates, top 2 richest Americans who donate to Democrats to steal money from the rest of us
Gambling losses can be considered campaign contributions!
Nice!
He will soon be vilified along with the Koch Brothers who have a combined wealth of over 70 Billion and way over George the real evil Soros net worth.
What scares me is the continuation of the socialist-style economy weve been experiencing for almost four years. That scares me because the redistribution of wealth is the path to more socialism, and to more of the government controlling peoples lives. What scares me is the lack of accountability that people would prefer to experience, just let the government take care of everything and Ill go fish or I wont work, etc.
U.S. domestic politics is very important to me because I see that the things that made this country great are now being relegated into duplicating that which is making other countries less great.
Im afraid of the trend where more and more people have the tendency to want to be given instead of wanting to give. People are less willing to share. There are fewer philanthropists being grown and there are greater expectations of the government. I believe that people will come to their senses and not extend the current Administrations quest to socialize this country. It wont be a socialist democracy because it wont be a democracy.
“He will soon be vilified along with the Koch Brothers”
So what? They’ve got used to it.
Damned if they do, damned if they don’t.
No one questions WHO is giving to Obama hundreds of millions or WHO has given to Romney dozens of millions.
They like to play the game, but not the game played against them. They have loaded the dice, and now they are ready to complain?
He will soon be vilified along with the Koch Brothers

Hell, when you have $21 Billion, who cares if people vilify you?

Really? , I am asking folks to pray God’s Will to be done will you join me?
He can do whatever he wants with his money, that’s the conservative way. Even if I don’t have billions or millions, I do whatever I WANT with my money.
Soros is doing it, Mitt is doing it, why not OTHERS?
Hey, I’m in agreement with you. I’m on your side. Hope you did not misunderstand my post.
What would Santorum do in order to support Israel, Dan?
Would he try to convert the Jews to his righteous religion, or bash them for their un-Catholic morals?
I simply don’t trust him to be a fair to people of a different faith.
I know, haven’t misunderstood your post. I only continued on its track :)
“I LOVE seeing this Orthodox, religious, Conservative REAL Jew taking on the secular, self-hating, Communist Jew-In-Name-Only (JINO) Soros.”
So do I :)
not if a couple and the establishment have anything to do with it.
They’ve already ran from a debate in Newt’s backyard, guess the crowd could not be controlled as much as here in NE FL
FFS, I read the post and then thought WTH is this about but then I saw it was you going on AGAIN against Newt.
Do you ever give it a rest for crying out loud?
Infact please do, it has become boring and tedious
I’ve always found that people who self-consciously refuse to use punctuation because they think it’s cool or something have nothing to say.
Wait until after Mittens destroys Rick in Michigan, which he will, and then it will become obvious that Newt will be the right guy to use that money.
I might give 5 gazzillion..or $50..havn’t made up my mind yet. Probably $50.
A great American. I knew there had to be one who cared and had wisdom and the means to seriously resist the socialist juggernaut that just seems to be rolling over this country like it's absolutely nothing.
If Sheldon Adelson gives $100m to Newt and Newt wins as a result, someone ought to put up a big bleeping statue of Sheldon Adelson right next to the Washington monument because, man, if Obama wins again, I doubt there will be a Washington monument four years from now.
