Good morning FRiends!
RISE AND SHINE, EVERYONE!!
For those of us with small areas to grow a garden in - check this out!
I’m looking at all kinds of videos of gardening in smaller areas, including things like vertical gardens and punching holes in sides of barrels and having loads of veggies growing out of the sides. Totally inspired!
BON TON ROULET!
Beads all around as I'm doing the Second Line Dance!
And anything to cut corners, I’m starting these and putting them in the “clam shells” different greens come in at the store, making little terrariums. Any way to do this on the cheap!
Tanks for the link.. It’s the same direction my garden is moving.
Wazzat??! I wanna know!!
Is that so?! That just rocks! One video was a fellow who doesn’t use his garage for his cars so he has all kinds of planters growing on his driveway.
Boils down to one thing: when there’s a will, there’s a way!
“Bon Ton Roulet” is French for, “Good Times Roll” (as in “Let the...”)
Anything to do with the Marti Gras?
This past weekend, the Create Channel was highlighting quite a bit of, I think, Louisiana. They talked about the King Cake that gets the little baby figurine cooked in it. Had to think a bit - pretty darn sure it’ the same that P6’s wife made last year!
I’ll be watching that later! There’s another family that does the same thing. Or maybe it’s the same family, but different video!
Laissez les bons temps rouler
Let the good times roll!
Oh that’s right! It’s “Fat Tuesday” - the day before Ash Wednesday! I look forward to good deals on Pierogies, eggs and butter!
Ohhhhh! THAT’S what’s going on!!
Morning AM! We didn’t do all that great with the garden last year. Planted a lot of different stuff and got a paltry amount from each planting. We did well with lettuce, zucchini and some tomatoes, but the cucumbers died, and we had little luck with spinach. Enough for a few meals.
We’re still learning. Obviously!
I’ve got those Chinese ladybugs in my house. One is crawling around on the lamp on my computer desk. We’ve had a few stinkbugs in the house as well.
yeech! Miniscules already??
Yup! Mrs p6 made king cakes last year but we couldn’t do anything this year with a ne grandson coming any day.
The big thing for us will be the fish frys at thhe churches during Lent.
Who was that horrible guy Jim played? Catholics for choice? Another BHO front/support group...sigh.
“Jewish-Christian-Muslim”? Give me a break?!
All of my cucumbers died, too! It was a very bad year for them. WOW, I had lots of Red Romaine and Bib Lettuce.
Yeah, don’t remember where I heard it but the Church pretty much signed on with the Dems decades ago and would let some of the policies go without protest. Proves the wisdom of a wonderful lady I know - absolutely refuses any government assistance for her ministry lest they have ANY say in what she does with it.
And fish fries! whoa!! nom nom nom!
The Survival Mom posted this yesterday on FB. Could be a nice springboard for those of us struggling to get started.
The first “lesson” from the Hillsdale college Constitution course came in my email yesterday. It’s pretty good!
I may have forgotten tto mention I registered a couple of weeks ago. Can’t beat the price...free, although I’m sure there will be endless donation requests.
Oh, shoot! I was going to do that! Got sick and forgot all about it!
Is there still time to get in on it??
IIRC Jim or Rush mentioned that. It is mind boggling! The corruption in the unemployment figures as well as voting roles is directly traceable to rats!
All signed up. Thanks for the reminder!
That is cool! Did you post it to the preppers threads? One thing we always did was keep a couple of cans of fresh kero all year long for heaters and lanterns. Can’t do it now of course and I miss that. The kero was used for cleaning all year round as well.
Great! You can also get the previous lectures.
I RELUCTANTLY re-activated my facebook page yesterday. I hate hate hate facebook!!!! I don’t want to be ‘found’ by anybody but my Freeper Friends, family and close friends!
I get those too! In fact, when I was at the hospital with Mr S last week, I found a copy of “Imprimis” in the family lounge, among the reading material.
Thanks for the link. I’m bookmarking the site. Mr S is finally on board on the prepper thing. He’s been watching the reports of how high the gas prices are going to be going up, and he now realizes how much that’s going to have an effect on food prices - it already has, in fact. We’re stopping in at Sam’s club. We’ve got some stuff put back. Enough to keep us for a little while if the SHTF. I’m buying seeds too.
I have a few cans handy for my lanterns. I do want to get a small heater, we’ve used some different ones in ice shacks or late-night boat rides. They’re nice in a pinch! I still have emergency candles from Y2K so not hurting for light. My brother gets gallons of Kerosene at a time, uses it for quite a few things, including heaters in the garage.
Did I put it on Greg’s? Don’t remember. I’ll check and do so if I didn’t.
Why is Rose kissing up to Mitt? She’s right about the GOP wanting Mitt or Jeb though.
Oh, I’m sorry, I know, FB sucks in many ways. But da** handy in others. Good with the bad. Will look for you there!
The pantry info sounds like what I’m looking for. I want to do a couple of container gardens as well—tomatoes; peppers; pole bean? We don’t have “yard room”’though. So containers on the deck.
Rose as a Czar? Czarina!
Rose saying Mitt is handsome is like when Mitt says “Buh-Rock is really a nice guy, but just in over his head.”
Wonderful!! That’s half the battle. Another is getting them motivated to start taking the steps. (I’m struggling with my brother on this point. He gets it but not doing much to prepare.)
I was considering Sam’s Club but am going to check out other restaurant supply locations that you don’t have to pay yearly fees for. Just can’t afford those extra little costs.
Craft stores (here we have Michaels) they sell dozen size boxes of chubby votives. Apparently I am math challenged because i way overbought for daughter’s wedding. Anyways, I found plain unscented candles really cheap @mikes!
Food shopping yesterday I managed 2 rump roasts, 12 beef brats, and some frozen foods like tenders for less tha $25.
We’re good for at least 2 weeks with turkey breasts and ground turkey and beef, chicken breasts and legs and thighs, pork roasts and loin chops, and lots of canned goods.
Today I’m thinking about gatting a small ham for slicing.
Looking back over the past few weeks though the amount we have spent stocking up is astounding! What adds to that and really irritates me is when things get thrown out. Right now I’m eating week old donuts because I refused to throw them out.
I’m going to try some vertical gardening, will keep you up to date on my steps, progress, and success/failures.
Nuke those doughnuts! They freshen up nicely!
Bill Scranton was one of the Hillman type GOP who backstabbed my dad when he was in politics. Scranton was supposed to campaign for dad but when he found out dad was a conservative -think Goldwater - he found “scheduling conflicts” and did things to undercut my dad.
Right after that is when this part of town went completely democrat.
Yup...they turned out pretty good! The aroma woke mrs p6 up, LOL!
We’re going to do a couple of topsy turvy things this year. Bought them last year but didn’t get them up. Other people here did put some up and they did very well!
