While most voters continue to strongly support border control to stop the flow of illegal immigrants into this country, they also remain concerned that legal citizens will be caught up inadvertently in these efforts.
A new Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey finds that 59% of Likely U.S. Voters are at least somewhat concerned that efforts to identify and deport illegal immigrants will also end up violating the civil rights of some U.S. citizens.

And what do those same folks say about the TSA?
And we wonder why we’re losing the country............
What about the rights of the rest of us? Sure there’s a danger of legal citizens getting wrongly picked up but but the other 300 million or so of us are getting screwed every single day the illegals are here.
If there are 30 million illegals in America, its enough to create nearly 50 congressional districts. How’s that for disfranchisement?
So now illegal foreigners are “citizens”?
These people have watched “Born in East LA” one too many times.
That is a totally flawed survey, having the traits of a push poll.
100% of the people I have surveyed agree with President Calvin Coolidge, who stated the following in December 1923 in an address to Congress:
American institutions rest solely on good citizenship. They were created by people who had a background of self-government. New arrivals should be limited to our capacity to absorb them into the ranks of good citizenship. America must be kept American. For this purpose it is necessary to continue a policy of restricted immigration."
"It would be well to make such immigration of a selective nature with some inspection at the source, and based either on a prior census or upon the record of naturalization. Either method would insure the admission of those with the largest capacity and best intention of becoming citizens. Those who do not want to be partakers of the American spirit ought not to settle in America.
If you are legal you can verify that rather easily.
what’s up with rassy lately-
his numbers have turned a sharp left lately
Illegal immigrants are not citizens. The respondents are either too stupid to realize this or the poll was worded in a way to get people to give this answer.
Not a very high hurdle to get to an answer that Americans are concerned.
Who asked Rasmussen to perform such a pole and who did they ask, illegal immigrants?
Sorry, misspelled poll.
Sorry, misspelled poll.
The Health Care mess, it's about insuring the uninsured, no it's it not, more would be uninsured with it.
When voter suppression, voter fraud, racism whatever is real, tangible and visible, they have zero interest.
Why? not sure but perhaps it is harder to fix a real problem then it is to have bad feelings about something and create a phony solution for a make believe problem.
or DUI checkpoints for that matter?
One of the main goals of the One World Government, New World Order, Progressives, is to destroy nationalism.
They are working to this goal on all levels, from destroying the the sense of community on a local level, dividing towns, and rural residents, replacing elected officials with appointed boards and commissions, that are insulated from voter lash back, and by setting up citizen groups to spy on neighbors and report land use and other violations.
In one WA county, they are training citizens to use heat sensing equipment which will seek and measure the pollution coming from unapproved wood burning fireplaces.
Illegal immigration is just one front on the war against American nationalism.
There is no such thing as an “illegal immigrant”.
You are either an immigrant or a criminal trespasser/invader.
To immigrate and to be classified as an immigrant you must follow the current legal process.
Sneaking into a country should NEVER be considered to be immigration in any form, shape or manner.
Disarm the communist left by refusing to use their made up terms which are designed to distort debate and understanding of any subject.
People really need to stop living and dieing by polls.
Just enforce the dang law no matter what popular opinion polls opine about. Deport all illegals. The reason I got no problem whatsoever showing my ID is that I’m here legally and got nothing to hide. Now why would people fear showing ID? Because of discrimination? Phssst. Bull crap.
The DOJ and Homeland inSecurity seems to relish in every excuse to abuse American citizens once it gets the power in the name of getting the bad foreigners.
Rinos don’t object that Homeland inSecurity is sexually molesting Americans at the airports in the name of power they got to seek out mulsim terrorists. They did not object to Christians and conservatives being made the MO of a domestic terrorist. They relish the corruption of political correctness.
I can imagine what the corrupt race baiting feds will do with a new found power to stop Americans (espeically whitey to make things quota equal) to “check their papers.” They will be locking up Americans until they can hire a lawyer and prove to a judge they have valid papers and really are Americans.
Some of the elderly Americans don’t even have birth documents. The Feds will have a heyday strip searching and locking them up with drug gang dealers. Our Federal government is a collection of traitors.
And, actually, the entire question is bogus and just one more something concocted to create confusion around the illegal alien issue. We all run the risk of being questioned, or even becoming a suspect in some crime or other disallowed act we know nothing about. It's just part of being alive and functioning in society.
I know, there are people on here that would like to round up 240,000 buses and an army of police officers to try. They are in my opinion delusional and reactionary. Even if that plan were workable logistically - and it is not - it will never happen.
The biggest reason such a plan is mindless folly is that the GOP would never allow such a plan to be put in place.
I do agree with eliminating incentives that draw people to live in this country illegally. So I don't get totally flamed, I agree with that position entirely. But most of all, we must control the border so the problem does not keep getting worse.
We are screwed! First these boneheads vote in the kenyan turd, now this! It seems it’s always opposites day in America!
So suttle how they sneak this in. Why wasn't it stated undocumented instead of illegal to carry thur the theme.
I was once arrested and spent the better part of a day in jail for non payment of child support I didn’t owe. (I don’t have kids) It was an inconvenience but I sure didn’t see it as a civil rights violation. It was a courthouse screw up and easily dealt with.
Another time I had a cop pull a gun on me. The cop even had me on the ground in handcuffs before I could prove it was a case of mistaken identity. The cop got my ID and showed me that I was a dead ringer for a murder suspect. My friends and I all got a laugh out of that one. No harm, no foul.
That's the difference between individual decision-making and collective choices forced on everyone else. For me, the "danger" of being deprived of my rights is far outweighed by the permanent price paid for the "feel good" benefit of the proponents, the overwhelming percentage of whom are immune or shielded from the consequences.
You are right of course. And it's such a simple effortless thing.
I am guilty of that very lapse. In the future I will only refer to them as illegal residents.
Thank you for the rhetorical push. Words have always meant things; abuse of words serve the propaganda monster and confound adult debate.
I agree with your take on all this.
It’s even gotten to the point that the political leadership and courts in the United States don’t even give a damn if our president is qualified to hold his office.
All evidence concerning his actions, points to him not having the best interests of our nation at heart, but the obvious question why that is, is never asked.
I am presently struggling through a small tome titled Flaws and Fallacies in Statistical Thinking. Although somewhat dated, the principles are eternal.
Your statement is a perfect reply to the Black or White Fallacy.
Our government barrage of propaganda is replete with them; as are most "polls."
“...because I saw it happen to Cheech Marin in a movie in the 80’s”
Wow, a CIC who actually understands how unique America is and actually wants to preserve it! Haven’t had one of those Presidents since the 1980’s (Reagan of course).
How far we’ve fallen.

I assume you read the following thread :
Judge Napolitano Getting Fired Rant Feb 16, 2012
The solution has been complicated almost beyond understanding. The rule of law continues to redefined beyond comprehension. The result is that everything, between chaos and totalitarianism is now an option.
When elected representatives ignore the constitution with impunity for generations, what options remain?
Citizenship and the rights of citizens. What a quaint, charming piece of nostalgia.
LOL, it is all in how you ask the question. Ask them if they support illegals stealing their kids futures.
Solid majority concerned about preserving civil rights of law abiding American citizens.

Most voters continue to support immigration status checks on routine traffic stops and favor strict sanctions on employers who give illegal immigrants jobs.”
This is more interesting:
“33% Say Race Relations in America Getting Better, 32% Worse”
(My note) And the remaining 35% say they will continue to support our race-baiter in chief, his race-baiting attorney general and his race-baiting supporters in Congress, the MSM, both coasts and society in general.
So don’t deport citizens. Problem solved.
If the legal immigrant community were to do what is expected of legal immigrants and citizens i.e. help keep the illegals from being here such a concern would be much, much less.
To the 59% (if the poll can be believed) to be merely asked to prove one’s citizenship is a violation of his/her rights. I’d welcome being asked. And that goes for at the polls as well.

Add one more to your polling sample, LOL.

Ill respect their rights when they respect our law
Very succinct! Posts like yours, gentleFReeper, lured to FR.

Thanks...and now my results have moved to 104.75%! :-)
I’ve never had experiences that bad, but once was in a city a thousand miles from home and was pulled over by the cops when I knew I hadn’t violated any traffic laws. They spent at least 20 minutes on their car radio checking me out I suppose. They finally let me go after what was nothing but a fishing expedition because I had a tag from a state far away.
That was car tag profiling and should be legal, even if it is pretty irritating. It probably turns up a wanted man or woman now and then.
“Waassappining”
Isn’t that the name of the place where the New York prison is located?
What this means is that the few who do actually have home phones, caller ID, answer 1-800 numbers and during dinner, are so desperate to talk to someone, anyone, I'm not surprised that they "fear efforts to deport illegal (aliens) immigrants will violate civil rights of citizens."
Most of those polled aren't paying taxes anyway, so why be concerned about their thinking of civil rights being violated of those who "violate our civil rights" by stealing our IDs, jobs and fleece us blind.
Work the numbers, for starters.
