Santorum: I will defend the 2nd Amendment
Human Events ^ | 02/21/12 | Rick Santorum

Posted on 02/21/2012 7:15:34 PM PST by writer33

Coming from Pennsylvania, a state with a rich heritage of hunting and fishing, I understand firsthand the importance of preserving our constitutionally protected rights found in the second Amendment.

I fight to preserve this tradition, and will work to ensure these rights are not infringed upon.

As a Senator, I opposed frivolous lawsuits against the gun industry by supporting legislation, such as the Protection of Lawful Commerce Act that would protect law abiding firearms manufacturers and dealers from frivolous lawsuits attempting to hold them liable for criminal acts of third parties.

I also vehemently opposed the Assault Weapons Ban because I believe that there are more effective ways to stop gun violence, such as stricter enforcement of existing laws, than taking away the rights of law abiding gun owners.

Apparently Santorum thinks the Second Amendment is about hunting and fishing. Somebody should ask him to read the Constitution.

Hunting and fishing? Enforce existing laws?

How about repealing some laws and rescinding some ATF regulations?

The firearms crime rate was lower when we could order Thompson subguns with 50 round mags through the mail.

Santorum: ‘The Second Amendment Is There To Protect the First Amendment!’ - February 16, 2012 - ....Santorum was then asked if the Second Amendment is only for hunting and sports, to which he responded emphatically, “the Second Amendment is there to protect the First Amendment!”

His own family possesses firearms, he says, both for hunting and handguns for personal protection. He cautioned that if Obama is reelected, the Supreme Court’s Heller Decision, which holds that individuals have a right to possess a firearm for traditionally lawful purposes, such as self-defense within the home, will be in jeopardy.

2A is to ensure that we can fight the government. Repeal GCA 68 and all later laws.

Mssrs. Santorum, Romney, Gingrich, Paul and even the clown in the oval orifice, you have repeatedly sworn to preserve, defend and protect the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign or domestic several times in your careers.

That means the WHOLE Constitution, not just this amendment or that clause.

If you choose to ignore or subvert ANY PART of it, you have forfeited your right to be in office, and should be tried for perjury at best, and treason at worst.

“His own family possesses firearms,”

Like Romney? Or does Rick actually own “one” himself?

Perry not only admits to owning guns, he considers going to the range as a family night out, “like bowling”, he said.

Saint Rick is going to need to go to confession after this one.

Here is part of the text for the “Affordable Education Act” of 2000, which Sweater Vest the Mighty voted for:

SEC. 507. REDUCTION IN SCHOOL VIOLENCE.

(a) SHORT TITLE- This section may be cited as the `School Violence Reduction Act’.
(b) FINDINGS- Congress finds that:
(1) Every school child in America has a right to a safe learning environment free from guns and violence.
(2) The United States Department of Education report on the Implementation of the Gun-Free Schools Act found that 3,930 children were expelled for bringing guns to school during the 1997-98 school year.
(3) Nationwide, 57 percent of the expulsions were high school students, 33 percent were in junior high and 10 percent were in elementary school.
(c) GRANTS- The Secretary of Education shall award grants to elementary and secondary schools (as such terms are defined in section 14101 of the Elementary and Secondary Education Act of 1965 (20 U.S.C. 8801)) to enable such schools to—
(1) develop and disseminate model programs to reduce violence in schools,
(2) educate students about the dangers associated with guns, and
(3) provide violence prevention information (including information about safe gun storage) to children and their parents.
(d) APPLICATION- To be eligible to receive a grant under subsection (b), an elementary or secondary school shall prepare and submit to the Secretary of Education an application at such time, in such manner, and containing such information as the Secretary may require.
(e) PUBLIC SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENTS- The Secretary of Education shall provide for the development and dissemination of public service announcements and other information on ways to reduce violence in our Nation’s schools, including safe gun storage and other measures.
(f) AUTHORIZATION OF APPROPRIATIONS- For the purpose of carrying out this section, there are authorized to be appropriated funds of up to $7,000,000 for fiscal year 2001 and such sums as may be necessary for each of the four succeeding fiscal years.

That’s the thing, he sounds conservative. That’s it. He’s an opportunist running from his record, and you’ve fallen for his spiel hook line’n sinker.

I understand firsthand the importance of preserving our constitutionally protected rights found in the second Amendment.

By his own words, the poor simpleton thinks the RKBA is 'found in the 2nd Amendment'. Such idiotic remarks, taken with the equally idiotic remarks about hunting, do not reflect a sound, correctly grounded, INSTINCTIVE grasp of the protected right, the Framers' mortal, existentially driven reasons for protecting it, nor of the deadly motives of every totalitarian's fear and loathing of the right, down to the current changeling [imbecile] from Nairobi. The ongoing MSM circus between The Willard [Myth Romney] and The Weeper [Santorum] every day becomes more obviously a ridiculous Kabuki show - the only question being the identity of the puppeteers. The last clown who juxtaposed our God-given right and Bambi was John Kerry, a tax dodging gigolo who seems to have run to earth, but apparently role plays as a Senator from some north eastern liberal fever swamp.

I have followed Santorum’s career for many years and he is my first choice in this race. I won't support a candidate who is for amnesty for illegal aliens from Mexico. Santorum is a Christian Conservative, not a Godless liberal-tarian.
