So let me get this straight... We created and built the Internet, and the U.N. wants to control it? Sounds like SOPA all over again accept on a global scale. Unbelievable!

Sounds like the control freaks want to destroy this beautiful creation that has revolutionized the world.

The Internet has busted many politicians, governments, etc... and they want to control that. They do not want to be held accountable for anything. At the very same time they want to watch all of us. So they want to spy on us, but they do not want us to spy on them.

So who is going to police the police?

The UN: Another leftist invention that is a massive failure and a massive waste of money but we keep so leftists can make pretend it’s a success.

The U.N. is a threat to humanity in general.

Here is the bottom line to what all this boils down to.

They are saying,

“We can watch you, but oh no you can’t watch us.”

If they can’t be open and transparent, then they are hiding something that they know is immoral and probably illegal too.

Guess we shouldn’t have given them the internet.

Oh well. Pay your taxes - your government is broke. :)

That was the Obama Administration that did that too.

I remember people saying don't do it, and they said it's only fair. Fair to who? Now we see why they wanted it.

I’m sure this idea didn’t just dawn on the UN yesterday. When I worked in Silicon Valley in the 1990’s — I invented the internet, ha ha! ;-) — occasionally discussions would come up about whether or if the government could control, monitor, tax or otherwise interfere with what we considered “freedom of speech”. We could barely imagine a worldwide control!

If we were worried about it then, you can bet the totalitarians have been getting their ducks in a row and their strategies in place. Why did they wait until now to bring it out?

For us to be dependent on the web. Now if they tax us, make rules, require our name, rank and serial number to log on, or whatever, who is going to argue? 10 or 20 years ago large groups of folks would have just said, screw you, I don’t really care that much about being online, I just won’t participate in this newfangled internet thing.

But now I do all my shopping (except food), most of my family communications, get all my news, do my banking and bills, well, what don’t we do online? We are hooked on a very good thing, and that’s why now they can force us to comply.

What’s scary is that other thing (name? an int’l treaty on the internet...done but not ratified!) that Obama DID SIGN a few months ago in the UN, is merely the tip of the iceberg. And got no news coverage. They’re miles ahead of us. Congress only backed down on SOPA because of the huge outcry. The public is fickle and will give less resistance each time.

Like 100% of everything else, too much of something becomes bad and if we let powerful government control freaks gain control of the internet everyone will lose.

Not only big governments but keep an eye on corporations like Google and their sometimes cozy relations with the ruling elite.

I try to move my traffic through smaller entities as I know for a fact no government, business, union, church ever behaves well once they become large. It is a dark side of human nature and something to be avoided at all cost. In all recorded history this is a FACT without exception.

Look what is happening to the USA as we daily move further away from the small government path the Founders laid out for us.

Who will protect us from the UN? Who do we call? Blue Helmet Busters?

Even today how do we know our search results are unfiltered? AOL sure did it for 2nd Amendment searches and thankfully lost many subscribers as they should have.

This might be a good solid plank for the GOP RINOs to put in their platform. Make a commitment to keep the UN out of the Internet. But seeing as NO politician even complies with their oath to protect and follow the US Constitution such a plank would be like balsa wood.

True but then again, since we can easily win the debate, we can use their own tools to defeat them.

Kind of like Sun Tzu “Art of War”.

Absolute power corrupts absolutely.

That is why it’s imperative to have a man of good character. I understand no one is a Saint, but I do believe that is a critical point in the nomination of a presidential candidate. We just have to figure out what is important and what is not.

On Feb. 27, a diplomatic process will begin in Geneva that could result in a new treaty giving the United Nations unprecedented powers over the Internet. Dozens of countries, including Russia and China, are pushing hard to reach this goal by year’s end.
