Santorum 'homophobic,' former Wyoming Senator says
KTVQ ^ | 2/22/12 | Robert Hendin, Alicia Budich

Former Senator Alan Simpson had some choice words for his one time colleague, former Pennsylvania Senator Rick Santorum.

"I know Santorum, I served with him," he said. "He is rigid and a homophobic. He believes that gays and lesbians, he mentioned in an interview in 2003, about bestiality, and gays and lesbians. I think that's disgusting," said Simpson.

The former three-term Senator from Wyoming has always been known for both his candor and his ability to work across party lines, said Republicans are hurting themselves by focusing on social issues.

"Here's a party that believes in government out of your life, the precious right of privacy and the right to be left alone. How then can they be the hypocrisy of fiddling around in these social issues? We won't have a prayer," he told Bob Schieffer in an interview for CBS News's Face to Face, a weekly web interview from the staff of Face the Nation....

Simpson's prognosis about the focus on social issues could prove true in November's general election....

Beat me to it! Alicia has awarded Simpson the much coveted John McCain “Moderate RINO” Memorial award.

A relative of mine wrote a blog posting that was mildly critical of Simpson back when he was working on Obama’s deficit commission. Was stunned to learn that the ex-Senator TOOK PAINS TO TRACK HIM DOWN, to CALL HIM IN PERSON and to ARGUE AND CHASTISE HIM FOR THE CRITICISM!

What you are dealing with here is an extreme egomaniac who always has to be right and who has an extremely thin skin. To the point that he will spend time and money chasing down any small-time blogger who criticizes him.

I’m waiting for your call, Senator.

Since when does Santorum want to ban homosexuality?

homop: irrational fear of, aversion to, or discrimination against homosexuality or homosexuals

I doubt sincerely that Santorum fears homosexuals. What he fears is the damage they do to society and themselves.
I sincerely doubt his aversion to homosexuals is irrational. As a Christian his aversion is to their sin of homosexual actions not to the person and that is very rational.
Homophobia is a nonsense word made up by the left to denigrate anyone that does not agree with homosexual actions.
So I suggest the old fart Senator STFU and MoveOn...........

“Wtf is wrong with that man (Simpson)?”

He’ll likely be running as the Obama-Financed 3rd Party “Americans Elect” Candidate...

This has been around for a while.

While Rome burns we will be fiddling with Santorum’s theological views. The economy really is that bad, to the point you could lose many of your religious freedoms. Greece is now ruled by an outside Eurocrat, bankruptcy can also cause severe moral decay.

I suggest someone come up with a factual, poll and election based retort to Neil Bortz type libertarians and establishment type Republicans.
We should NOT try to change minds on the abortion issue or the gay marriage issue, with this work.

We should instead approach them with the “Hey, I respect YOUR beliefs, but you are wrong to say that Social Conservatism is bad for the Republican Party Because history and statistics proves otherwise!”

Show the number of times gay marriage has been defeated at the polls, even in LIBERAL states.

Show the actual exit polls on the abortion issue. NRLC has often highlighted the “prolife increment” that shows that most of those who vote, single-issue, on abortion, vote prolife.

Show the fact that, when it comes to actual LEGISLATION, like Parental Consent, Parental Notification, Informed Consent, 3rd trimester bans, bans on tax funding of abortion, safety regs for abortion provider offices, etc., that the PROLIFE side wins majorities in ANY public opinion survey.

I am a Newt guy, but at this moment I think Rick S. has a real shot.

You Santorum folks need to do your research and come up with factual, statistical, historically accurate responses, however, if you want to help Rick fight off this garbage.

“Elections are not about saving souls, elections are about getting souls who agree with you, to the Polls!”

Show the squishy crowd and the Libertarian crowd that they are WRONG on the “electability” issue.

Then? The naysayers and cowards will be forced to admit that they are opposed to the social conservative message, itself, rather than “electability”.

This, alone, will SILENCE much of the opposition in RINO and Libertarian camps.

Does a fetus with a full complement of human DNA have a right to privacy?

.. does the trip down the birth canal and closure of the ductus Botalli confer the right?

There is a big difference between hating gays versus refusing to go along with the gay promoting agenda.
We're letting the left label the issues again. That has to stop.

What the heck does that mean?

Only a fractured mind could use such fractured syntax to make such a fractured point.

Progressive-think: It's none of your damn business what people do in their bedrooms! You will, of course, be expected to pay for anything that goes wrong.

instead of attacking the false prophet "our" people make fools of themselves and attack social issues and each other....

I'm against abortion, don't think we should give condomns to 12 yro's and infact, don't believe sex education should even be taught in school....

but this constant diatribe on social issues is a losing issue....morality is encouraged by example, not by edict....

Simpson is long past his usefulness....nothing like joining the establishment line by knocking candidates not approved of....

phobic: “afraid” The obverse being, phile. Santorum is saying he isn’t a homophile: He doesn’t favor, accept or endorse such things as buggery, `Sapphic love’, bestiality, necrophilia, etc., etc.
The left and its journo-organs oppose any expressions of opposition to libertine sexual matters. This is why Simpson is regularly trundled out and his plastic ring-string pulled. He’s a salty old Republican—from the other side. And he’s used to impeach a possible opposing front-runner’s credibility. The sad thing is, Simpson knows what he’s doing. He craves approval.
On a different (somewhat related) note, I was amused to see someone here state that they were surprised Drudge gave Santorum’s speech from years back his headline yesterday on this same topic, thinking, “This disproves the notion that Drudge is Romney supporter.” Incredible.

Mr. Alan Simpson....you are just a pawn. Get over yourself. You are just another member of the GOP-E....

The country is going to hell in a hand basket....and the Dim's are driving the bus. Yet you seem to have to denigrate fellow party members!?!?!?!

Go back to retirement...and shut the hell up.

“Here's a party that believes in government out of your life, the precious right of privacy and the right to be left alone. How then can they be the hypocrisy of fiddling around in these social issues?”

This statement is dishonest. The taxpayers today are being forced to subsidize the immoral, decadent and self-indulgent lifestyles of the Democrats. Taxpayer money is used to fund planned parenthood and other organizations. Taxpayer money is used to fund homosexual groups. Taxpayer money is used to treat the sexually transmitted diseases that are part of their lifestyle. Taxpayer money is used to treat their drug problems. Taxpayer money is used to support them and their illegitimate children. First you claim you don't want the government involved in your lifestyle. That is fine with me. Then you whine about how you want the taxpayers to pay for the consequences of your lifestyle.

Luke 9:5

“And whosoever will not receive you, when ye go out of that city, shake off the very dust from your feet for a testimony against them.”

Matthew 10:14

“And whosoever shall not receive you, nor hear your words, when ye depart out of that house or city, shake off the dust of your feet.”

When the republican party will not listen to those that finance and vote for them... it only leaves me and others with one thing to do... and JESUS was clear on this point. My patience with the corrupt and infected republican party is not unlimited and is approaching my final limit.

The 2003 quote: "If the Supreme Court says that you have the right to consensual [gay] sex within your home, then you have the right to bigamy, you have the right to polygamy, you have the right to incest, you have the right to adultery. You have the right to anything. Does that undermine the fabric of our society? I would argue yes, it does. ... That's not to pick on homosexuality. It's not, you know, man on child, man on dog, or whatever the case may be. It is one thing."

Please note that Santorum specifically said that it's not pederasty or beastiality.

So now the establishment RINOs are lining up for TV spots so they can attack Santorum but at a minimum they should get their quotes right.
