TAMPA (CBS Tampa) Talk about pain at the pump! Some Florida drivers are spending nearly $6 a gallon to fill up their gas tanks.
According to GasBuddy.com, motorists are shelling out $5.89 for a gallon of regular gas at a Shell station in Lake Buena Vista, topping out at $5.99 a gallon for premium. It doesnt get better at a Suncoast Energy station in Orlando, where drivers are paying $5.79 for a gallon of regular.
Prices over in the Disney World area are much higher than any other place in Florida, Jessica Brady, AAA spokeswoman, told CBS Tampa, adding that people regularly complain about gas prices in that area.
The Sunshine State is opening up its wallet, paying an average of $3.67 a gallon of unleaded gas, 12 cents more than the national average. And its only expected to go up.
It doesnt look like we will have relief at the pump anytime soon, Brady told CBS Tampa. I do think we will see prices surpass $4 a gallon. I think we will see that closer to spring time.

The list, Ping
Let me know if you would like to be on or off the ping list
Went up a dime overnight, here...coastal OR...a quarter in the last 10 days.
I got some last night. $3.55 / gallon. Zip: 33523 in Florida too!
Gouging I’d say.
This is why Sarah Palin said our candidates need to focus on energy. Obama will just attack the oil companies. Mark Levin said last night to prepare for this to come next.
Now notice the silence from the same Media, and the continue getting on their hands, knees and kissing the butt of the president.
Can you imagine what they would be saying if Obama was a Republican??? Oh yeah the Media is objective and are not political hacks. (sarcasm off)
Fox News interviewed Eric Bolling from the Fox Business Channel and he said we have not even begun to feel the results of some things affecting the price of gas yet. The prices are going to rise even more.
“I know, let’s send the President to Florida.”
He is going there tomorrow to speak at some university about the gas crisis.
Gouging? No way. If oil companies had that much power over prices then they would never decrease.
Nope, it’s all the back and forth increase in tensions with Iran. BTW, I have been told that a Saudi prince owns a large chunk of Fox News. Yes, the same Fox News that wants us involved in every conflict in the Middle East.
Finally, why aren’t the sheeple blaming Obama for the increase in gas prices? As always, the media won’t touch it.
$2.00 above the national average? Sounds like a local gouging problem...
In 6 months there will be another surge in Home Foreclosures; just like last time.
But, Obama isn’t smart enough to realize the most basic of facts. Gas stations sell gas for CASH (debit or credit cards). People HAVE to fill their tanks to buy food, go to work, etc. They have no choice - the car MUST be filled.
When gas prices go up, the cost of living goes up. Food, clothing and fuel oil don’t magically appear at the various vendor’s stores. It must be transported. The cost of transporting and creating these goods just doubled. This cost will be passed on to the consumer. Just like last time.
So, with your income fixed, and job layoffs pending (cost of doing business just surged with energy costs going up, more rounds of layoffs will be a necessity) - people have a choice. Fill the car, eat and get dressed today; or pay the mortgage. People who have been scraping by, are now going to go under.
Surprisingly, this line of reasoning is beyond the ability of most of our elected officials. I guess if you have millions in your bank account, you can afford to sell the American Dream down the river; as it won’t affect you or your family.
Obama = human gas crisis
The Republicans can now say thanks to Obama not wanting to build the pipeline since it would hurt Warren Buffets Trains. We now we have $6 a gallon gas.
Run that over and over again and watch the Dems go ballistic.
Well, one price was regular unleaded, the other was premium. I haven't looked into it, but it sounds like this may be a remote gas station near an airport that has rental cars. Pay us a premium, or pay even more to the rental company for a not-quite-full tank upon return.
Yep. Paying about $3.61 +/- a nickel here in Orange Park (greater Jacksonville). It's actually down a couple of pennies from last week.

You nailed it on the head and guess who is going to have to pay for all those foreclosures? It’s a complete disaster in the making.
I guess nobody believed him when he blamed the recovering economy.
zip code 32095
went up 13 cents overnight
BS - the price of crude has been stable since the beginning of December at ~100 - the futures out to the summer are in the same range.
Further, we get ZERO oil from Iran and the announced Embargo of France and Britain is insignificant to Iran's production - they can sell that portion elsewhere easily (Asia!).
I have been told that a Saudi prince owns a large chunk of Fox News.
Oh, then I guess your heard about the Saudis cutting back on production recently ....
We’re around 3.53 in my area of Pa. (as of today).
Orlando and Disney area is gouging the tourists (and residents)
zip code 32095
went up 13 cents overnight and yet the MSM are very quick to deflect attention away form obama by pointing out Iran.
Even local FOX 30 is a joke and protecting this idiot in the white house
I'd bet most of our elected officials couldn't tell you off the top of their head what the price of gas was at that station down the block. They have drivers who do the dirty work of filling up their tanks and swiping a government credit card.
I believe that above every other issue, the price of gas on election day will determine if Obama gets a second term. This is one of the most tangible quality of life indicators that Americans face every day for the reasons you mentioned.
The bastard is already calling for higher taxes on oil and gas companies.
He’s counting on the fact that his moron supporters won’t make the connection between the higher taxes and increases at the pump.
..or the nearest refill around the airport car rental return points.
I would say the prospect of a larger war in the ME is enough to raise the price of oil, regardless of who gets what from where.
Did the Saudis cut back on production? Curious. I wonder what their motivation is? I don’t trust them one bit.
Barry’s “Hope and Change” and “Yes We Can” is finally starting to kick in! No wonder his “approval” ratings are starting to rise. The voters are stupid (or rich)!
That I certainly believe. Was there a couple of years ago...very high. Drove to Jupiter from there (Jupiter, FL) and it was quite a bit cheaper. I wonder what the rental car companies charge/gallon if you bring the tank back hal-full. For awhile in 2008, our car rental company at work didn’t update the forms for some time...and the cost to let them fill it was less than the pump. We got away with it for awhile.. ;-)
March should be designated THANK A DEMOCRAT FOR 6 DOLLARS A GALLON FOR GAS MONTH.
Is that legal? I would love to do that!
That’s over by that Epcot/Disney area. The tourists returning rental cars to Orlando Int’l get hooked that extra $2.50 per gallon because they won’t drive a further to a cheaper station.
About two years ago I pulled into a Chevron there on the way home - I live 30 mi. away. One look at the prices was enough for me.
Like I said - it is used to hook the tourists.
Gouging as in Disney and Resort Retailers. They figure travelers with rentals don’t know the reasonable price in Florida while on vacation. A tourist doesn’t know the area and where gas stations are so they will pay most anything for gas.
skyrocketing energy rates are necessarily part of his plan
remember, he said that in 2008. The MSM hushed it up.
Ah, got it. I assumed the oil companies were being accused, and we know what assumptions do. ;-) Thanks for the info.
Many people don’t know that 3/4 of the world’s oil is controlled by foreign governments. They manipulate production and influence prices.
Just wait until Spring Break!
It would be, but that has not been the case! Oil has remained stable at ~100 since the beginning of December and the futures prices out to July are in the same range. IOW, the price of oil (now and for the short term) is not the reason that gas prices are going up! The Oil Companies are raising prices because they know they CAN.
Further, Iran is NOT going to start a shooting war any time soon - they have no need to do so as the US & Europe have done nothing over the last 30 years to deter them from the coure they are on, and the current "threats" are meaningless to them!
Obama has to be happy!
Stickers of bam’s grinning mug should decorate every gas pump.
I’m 100% SURE NBC Evening News will be leading it’s reporting with a live shot outside these stations tonite, showing the price signs, just like they did in 2008, RIGHT??
Arguably, as a free speech issue. Just sent a bunch to a FReeper gas station owner, it's unquestionably legal for him to put any sticker he darn well pleases on his own pumps.
I use stock that peels off easily and cleanly, still the pre-printed stickers stay on the pumps for weeks. That tells me neither the owners nor customers have strong objections.
I would love to do that!
You can. Get some removable bumper sticker stock and spend a few minutes setting up an Excel template and you can print as many as you like.
Or I could just send you some.
That’s very kind of you, but I don’t want you to go to any extra expense. My husband knows Excel (I am tech challenged), so he can set it up for me. Where do I get the bumper sticker stock? In fact, this would make a great bumper sticker!
You, sir (or madam), are my hero!
In the spring and summer of 2008 the price for deisel rose from 2.89 to 4.99 in Colordo. I was spending $40.00 a day to get to my work. We cut back on everything, stopped going to the movies, bought a lot less at the grocery store. All summer and fall all I did was watch that fuel gauge. I actually pulled a camper up to the National Forest Near my job site and stayed up there 3-4 days a week. I knew that a lot of people were doing the same things I was doing. It didn’t take a genius to figure out the effect on the economy. Sure enough that fall the housing bubble broke. I knew that people were missing mortgage payments to put gas in the car. Now the economy is in even worse shape after the last 3 years. Again it doesn’t take a genius to know what is going to happen when the price goes over $4.00 again. Still only $3.25 here but it has gone up 20 cents in 2 weeks.
Maybe a mod would put the price per gallon in the headline - it’s a grabber...
Maybe a mod would put the price per gallon in the headline - it’s a grabber... all got it ‘nearly $6 a gallon’...
Interesting question. If it (putting an informative sticker on gas pumps) were to be determined to be illegal, do you say it should not be done?
I'm not trying to put words in your mouth, just asking the question.
Buena Vista = Disney ... 'nuff said!
