Gingrich launches 30-minute ad in Super Tuesday states

Republican presidential candidate Newt Gingrich, who has recently shifted his focus from the economy to gas prices and energy policy, is set to air a 30-minute speech on those issues in several states that vote on Super Tuesday on March 6.

As prices at the pump continue to inch upward, the former House speaker has seized on the issue and blamed President Obama's energy policies as part of the problem. He routinely calls for a new "American energy program" that will allow energy development on federal property and in federally controlled waters.

"I think our goal should be simple," Gingrich said Tuesday in a speech to Oklahoma state legislators. "We want to be so independent in energy production that no future president ever again bows to a Saudi king." The line is a reference to Obama's deep bend at the waste when greeting King Abdullah of Saudi Arabia in 2009, which the White House has insisted was not a bow. But the reference usually draws enthusiastic applause from Gingrich's crowds on the campaign trail.

The focus on rising gas prices has the Obama administration on the defensive, with White House press secretary Jay Carney on Tuesday dismissing the idea that the president is to blame for the increases.

"The rise in gas prices is clearly the effect of a variety of factors on the global price of oil around the world," he told reporters at a press conference. "They include unrest in certain regions of the world. They include growth in places like China and India."....

Great post! Newt is addressing the economic issues which in my opinion are top priority. As Carville once said, "it's the economy stupid!"

Hope Newt's great video moves him UP in the polls where he belongs!

Sarah Palin was on with Hannity last night ahead of Newt and said our candidates need to focus on energy. Newt followed her and agreed with what she said on energy. Below are the interviews:

And with Newt’s recent focus on energy and today’s presentation, that probably wasn’t coincidence.

And Rick Perry in AZ today, doing interviews and spin room appearance, is “energy independence” and “10 Amendment” back-up for Newt.

I like Newt but even I’m not going to listen to a 30 minute infomercial. How many people who haven’t decided who to vote for will?

Maybe you'd prefer to read this garbage about how Newt Gingrich and right-wing dreamers have their heads in fantasy -- how we believe in ideas and possibilities instead of reality.

Newt Gingrich's Fantasy Campaign—and the Fictions That Gave Rise to It

.............."In an era where left-of-center voices increasingly paint a dark vision of the future as fraught with ecological dangers, science fiction conservatives have a near monopoly on utopian dreams of a tomorrow of abundance and technological wonders. During the 1970s and 1980s there was brief upsurge of feminist and environmental utopian novels from authors like Ursula K. Le Guin and Ernest Callenbach, but in recent decades left-of-center novels about the future see only looming dystopias, such as Margaret Atwood's grim series of books that imagine the consequences of resurgent patriarchy and out of control genetic engineering."........

Houston: “The Obama Administration is taking a beating at this year’s NAPE Conference, the annual expo of oil and gas prospects and industry networking.

Speakers are sparing no jabs in taking the White House to task for three years of policies that they say have reinforced the nation’s tether to oil imports and kept gasoline prices high.

At first blush, the points might seem out of place at a convention whose theme touts a national “oil and gas supply renaissance.” The United States has seen a surge in oil and natural gas production in recent years. In fact, the boom has been so intense, that the United States is considering exporting its natural gas surplus and some analysts are debating the imminence of energy independence.

But those milestones were reached in spite of oppressive energy policy from the Executive Branch, several speakers at the NAPE Conference said.

“These have been the most difficult three years from a policy standpoint that I’ve ever seen in my career,” said Bruce Vincent, president of Houston-based oil and natural gas producer Swift Energy. “They’ve done nothing but restrict access and delay permitting.”

“The Obama Administration, unfortunately, has threatened this industry at every turn,” Vincent added.

Vincent and other speakers, including former Shell executive John Hofmeister, criticized the administration for reducing access to federal lands for fossil fuel production and for efforts to expand the federal reach into the regulation of the oil industry.

Vincent said, while oil production has grown nationwide, production on federal lands has fallen 13 percent.

Others criticized the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s studies of the environmental impact of hydraulic fracturing.............

If you want Sarah Palin as Energy Secretary, vote Newt. These two definitely seem to have a thing going. Todd and Callista better watch out.

What stood out most to me in the interview was when Hannity asked Palin who she would vote for in Michigan and she said, "she wasn't sure." In such a close election I am surprised that she didn't name Santorum.

I really believe that she is for Newt. She has not endorsed Newt and that is my own personal opinion

How will he get this to air? Is it for video (internet) only?

I would like to know how many people will get the opportunity to see this ad for Gingrich. Not having the debate in Georgia is really going to hurt Newt in his comeback.

I believe that Sarah Palin was for Rick Perry, now for Newt Gingrich.

Sarah Palin is going to campaign hard for the eventual Republican candidate. I hope that she is not keeping her powder too dry.

I watched this video the other day, and posted it on my blogsite. I was deeply impressed by Newt’s ability to speak so well about these things. I am always better-informed after I listen to him.
