Obama To Blame Others For Rising Gas Prices Thursday (Paging Captain Obvious)
The First Street Journal ^ | 2/23/2012 | By William Teach

Posted on 02/23/2012 4:47:36 AM PST by tobyhill

Senator Obama: Rising gas prices are President Bush’s fault! President Obama: Rising gas prices are someone else’s fault!

,,,,,,,

President Barack Obama will try to head off the political impact of rising gasoline prices as Republicans vow to make the price at the pump an issue in the 2012 election campaign.

Obama plans events this week focusing on his administration’s efforts to expand domestic exploration and development of alternative energy sources to combat cyclical spikes in gas prices.

He’s going to blame China, Iran, speculators, people who fail yo properly inflate their tires and get tune ups, anybody but himself.

The White House press secretary, Jay Carney, came to his daily press briefing armed with statistics about domestic exploration and said Obama favors various forms of energy, including higher fuel-efficiency standards, nuclear reactor development and alternative energy research.

He will discuss the steps his administration has taken to increase domestic production of oil and natural gas, raise fuel efficiency standards and promote new construction of nuclear facilities, officials said.

How’s that worked so far? Much like the unemployment rate, the US has had sustained high gas and energy prices throughout Obama’s time as emperor, er, president. And the rates continue to rise.

This will be a purely political speech, one in which Obama ducks all responsibility, and one in which he provides no true solutions. The phrase you’ll be hearing in your head is “suck it up, buttercup. Buy a Volt.” Because energy just magically appears from unicorn farts in Obama World. And one in which the taxpayers pay for his gas for the 17 car motorcades and unnecessary fossil fueled flights to campaign events and vacation spots.

I fully expect our President to see high gas prices as an opportunity to buy votes.

He will cut the 44 cents per gallon federal tax at least in half, and/or begin to release some of our strategic reserves.

He knows he can just print money to make up the shortfall, and pass the bill onto our progeny.

An utterly cynical move, but we already know he has no problem with reducing revenues to buy votes in the payroll tax issue.

The payroll tax reduction thus becomes the “slippery slope” we all feared.

I believe domestic fossil fuel production has been driven by higher prices, and everything else Obama likes the free market doesn't (and that includes nuclear power).

Since this one is a no brainer, our guys in congress will screw it up. We have no one to give the message to the public who can beat back the lies of the left. The payroll tax cut is a good example how the dems will spin the truth o this one too and likely win because of our spineless leaders like John Boehner.

Many of the bushbots were blaming the Dem Congress (2006) for the Bush era ills.

I suppose it would only be tit-for-tat for the Obamabots to blame the GOP House (2010) for their ills.

==

The problem with all the political rhetoric — whether coming from the Dems or Pubbies — is that it is the same rhetoric that has been used since Nixon was president. One could pick up an energy/oil/gas related speech from any political year during the previous 40, and it would not sound any different that the speeches politicians are giving today on the subject.

The problem is that the political rhetoric fails to lead to real solutions.

Just yesterday was a thread of some Dem urging Obama to release the Strategic Oil Reserve to help reduce prices. That is the same tactic Clinton used a decade ago.

Energy/oil/gas is too valuable a political football for either political party to actually resolve. And the general pubic gets the bill by increased gas prices.

lets not get sidetracked, We Have Lot’s of Gasoline, we are not using it, people are not buying gas, they are not going to work every day, businesses do not need it either for deliveries and such, they are ALL OUT OF WORK. See here http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-chat/2816264/posts

Usage is at an ALL TIME LOW and Exports are at an ALL TIME HIGH. The rising cost of Gas has more to do with the THEFT OF VALUE OF OUR MONEY than anything else, some people call it inflationthat’s why we need QE3 to finish off the destruction of the American Middle Class. Funny how everyone overlooks the fact that Counterfeiting is one of the only 3 crimes found in the Constitution itself, and is WHOLLY IGNORED.

Is any organization keeping track of the details of what Obama really did regarding oil drilling?

This moron will probably federalize fuel like in Venezuela.

Can anyone imagine what will happen if gas and diesel were suddenly below $2 a gallon?

Or further yet why not just go whole enchilada, make gas below a half dollar per gallon?

If he did such a Hail mary move just what effect would this have upon his re-election, could he really stael the votes from America by allowing dirt cheap fuel prices? Like giving away free cocaine to start up addicts?

Obviously he cares not how deep in debt to make the country, its just a suicide machine to him.

My gut feeling is that he may just whip out a totally obscene plan just like this, his stimulus plans have been exposed so next will be fuel. If he indeed drastically and forcibly makes fuel much lower to what would be the economic benefits?

Or the losers?

10 years ago the Democrats said we shouldn’t drill in ANWR because it would take 10 years before we’d see any benefit. Well, it’s been 10 years!

Someone in Congress needs to make the sarcastic statement:

“Well, one thing is for certain, high gas prices aren’t Obama’s fault, because we know as an inherent definition, that NOTHING is ever Obama’s fault.”

He is going to make gas receipts an itemized tax deduction for fuel efficient vehicles.

He suffers from severe Narcissistic Personality Disorder. People with this psychological impairment ALWAYS blame someone else for the bad that they do, because in their eyes they can do no wrong.

Higher fuel-efficiency standards are a "form of energy" in the same sense that a pre-natal ultrasound is "rape."

Both definitions are recent and silly propaganda ploys by the Left, typical and predictable whenever liberalism is on the defensive. Try to redefine words, tp "re-frame" reality.

You may be right. The Fed has created $900 billion in the last 12 months and is using it to fund government debt. M2 has grown at around a 14% annualized rate over the past 6 months. The price inflation is showing up in gasoline, groceries, etc. and may be just getting started. It certainly bears watching.
