chopper ride - of course.

Marine told me when my son joined that I was part of the family and would find out what that meant. I feel the loss.

from same source

Lt. Maureen Dooley with the Miramar Air Base in California says the Marines were based at Camp Pendleton north of San Diego.

She says the crash involved Cobra and Huey helicopters.

Authorities say it happened Wednesday evening.

Prayers up for the Marines and their families.

Aside: Will New Jersey (or any other state) put their flag at half-mast for these Marines?

May God rest their souls, and bring some comfort to those who loved them.

My sympathy for their friends and family. I am grateful for their service to our nation.
May God comfort all who mourn.

What we need to learn is ...

Did P.C. changes have anything to do with this loss of life?

I ask because the P.C. cares more about feminism than life of our soldiers.

Same question popped into my head. Kudos.

Oh, and I doubt it, btw.

I decided to call up the NJ Governor’s office to ask. I actually got right through which was pretty impressive. So I asked if they would be flying the flags at half mast for our fallen Marines in this accident. The first question back was “were any of them residents of NJ?”. Cold. Not an “Oh my, I saw that” or “What a terrible accident”. Nope.

OTOH, she did say that they would look to see if they were and then of course they would. She told me they fly the flag at half mast for every fallen NJ soldier (32 times to date). So we’ll see.

This particular huey got help crashing from a cobra.

Even in peace time, being part of a military fighting force is in and of itself inherently dangerous. Our warriors have to train as if they were actually fighting, so that when the time comes, they will fight like they train. It is an incredible testament to the professionalism of our men and women of the US armed forces that these inevitable incidents don't occur far more often.

May God bless them....

And may they rest in Peace!

I wonder if night vision goggles were involved. Don’t they tend to reduce depth of field? No details yet, was it a head on or side to side collision?

So sad this happens when we have such great technology and training...

training...

That likely is the issue. As for NVGs, there is reduced depth perception and field of view, the tradeoff of course is being able to see at all.

I grieve. I hurt. But solemn comes in the following:

...They will find the streets are guarded: By The United States Marines.

I will have that duty someday. Others have the MOS earlier, I suppose.

RIP, my brothers...Guard true and protect what you hold!
