As Republican presidential candidates toss barbs at Barack Obama over expensive gasoline, the U.S. president and his team are going on the offensive with a strategy to divert blame and prepare voters for higher costs. In subtle and not so subtle ways, Obama, a Democrat, is raising the issue of high prices to promote his own policy priorities and blunt criticism from the men vying to unseat him in the November 6 election. His strategy is both politically- and policy-oriented. The president wants to advance his plans to increase renewable energy sources and reduce U.S. reliance on foreign oil.

Obama as a presidential candidate said:
“Under my plan of a cap-and-trade system, electricity rates would necessarily skyrocket. ... Coal-powered plants, you know, natural gas, you name it, whatever the plants were, whatever the industry was, they would have to retrofit their operations. That will cost money.”
Never understood why Bush didn’t do more of this when he was in office.
“We need to drill here, and drill now. We have the resources to create $1/gal gas. Democrats in congress need to put America first, not the environmental lobbyists.”
Short of that he could have issued an executive order in the name of national security to bypass EPA regulations prohibiting consruction of new refineries, etc...
If inflation kicks in too soon, it’s gonna kill him. I think it is starting with fuel prices and the market numbers.
Yahoo News goes on offense for Obama over high gasoline prices
“Arab Spring? What’ve Arabs got to do with gas prices?”
The folks commenting on Yahoo are enraged!
Good, so am I!
This guy promised “skyrocketing prices” he said they were necessarily part of his plan. He said “electric rates” but I think he met all energy.
I think W allowed his policies to be more effected by media spin than he let on.

That would need updating around these parts.....the graphic is 30 cents cheaper than what we’re faced with.
It sucks that food and fuel prices aren’t factored into the government-produced inflation numbers.
Cue up Janis Joplin on the turn table...
This guy is a joke he had all the answers before he was president and did nothing but talk down the country.
Hey Mr. President future fuel alternatives won't get me to work or feed my children in the next 5 years what's your plan already. Close down off shore drilling, refuse pipelines into our country, refuse fuel exploration drilling, stop the building of refineries and shut down coal plants?
We didn’t capitulate to the Germans; we didn’t capitulate to the Japanese; and we shouldn’t capitulate to the Democrats, RINO’s, and eco-fascists. Build the Keystone pipeline, drill off the coast and in ANWR, build refineries, build nuclear plants. We are Americans; we have the skills and technology. Just do it.
Carol King had a big hit in the early 70’s called IT’S TOO LATE! Bye Bye Bari...
Thanks.

It’s actually worse.
Watch this. I laughed. I cried. I mostly cried.

Good luck with that, President Azzclown...
Not to worry, we will just print more fake money with the help of Geithner and the government will get free gasoline while the rest of the nation turns into North Korea.

Free abortion, free money for everyone who decides to be a lemming.
Yes, Bowbama, it is offensive!
One thing we know for sure,
it is axiomatic that high gas prices aren’t 0bama’s fault,
because NOTHING is ever his fault.
-——Noted: Obama plans on doing nothing to bring prices back in line.-——
The ends don’t justify the means, but if this is his decision, so be it. He won’t be reelected.
“Noted: Obama plans on doing nothing to bring prices back in line.”
I believe that, it’s consistent with the Obama world view. The USA uses too much of the world’s energy, and he wants to slow us down. High gas prices fit with his “energy plan”.
It’s the best news I’ve heard in a long time. While I won’t enjoy paying, I hope the price of a gallon of gas goes to $8/gallon! At that level, independents will quit wringing their hands and worshiping Obama, and will notice their empty wallets, gas tanks, and refrigerators.
Agreed!....This dingleberry is toast!
You were not following what GWB was doing?
Dems repeatedly filibustered energy bills in the RINO Senate so in 2007 when gas prices were rising and voters mad GWB made a deal with the devil, he signed onto a energy bill with the NEW Reid/Pelosi congress.
To get some drilling he went along with ethanol mandates and subsidies and banned incandescent light bulbs, the last going into effect 2012 and 2013. It was a monstrocity.
Remember that when you see Republican candidates make all sorts of bold promises. What crap will they sign onto to get SOMETHING to tell voters they accomplished SOMETHING?

congress.Buy these and send to Obama and
BINGO!!!!
The Republicans should be running ads 24 hours a day with that quote...
If they weren’t the stupid party that is...
One of the Republican groups need to bring out an ad with Obama proclaiming that energy prices needed to skyrocket.
The material is out there to bury this fool.
Pain at the pump has to overcome their inherent desire to assure themselves that they aren’t “racist”.
GOD we are so screwed.
That is pure bull shit!....
I hope and pray you’re right. I just about vomited when I saw the numbers (seriously).
“You were not following what GWB was doing?”
I was following what was happening. The general public wasn’t, and W did a poor job of getting the message out that the dem congress was preventing sound energy strategy.
W didn’t use the media effectively. Big ears does.
Could also put it on grocery carts.
Would be good also at rest stops in the restrooms because people are traveling, as well as on grocery carts, just because it would be visible.
Renewable energy don’t exist. It is a figment of the liberal mind and it’s wet dream to have us all riding horses and buggys.
We are being raped over these demented pipe dreams of the left. And all we can say is “They have good intentions”
FUBO all the left.
Actually Bush (and even clinton) did increase leases and open up more areas to drilling. It really does take time for the oil to come online which is one BIG reason along with the shale fields that the US production is up (two things that obama couldn’t stop but he is now taking credit for).
I remember when gas prices started hitting the roof in the Spring of '08. People were seriously getting nervous. President Bush invited some Saudi ruler to his ranch in Crawford, got his photo taken holding this guy's hand and took a lot of heat for it. But then gas prices started falling! By the end of his term, IIRC, I was paying right around $2/gal in Southern California.
My point? Bush didn't need to do anything. He was a lame duck who will never have to worry about the price of gas pinching his lifestyle. But he did something anyways. He held some other dude's hand!

So Barry, you gonna take one for the team?
The same fools that scream for “renewable energy” scream against “renewable construction materials.” They want renewable energy so that they can protest the use of lumber!
Do they honestly think that people have forgot that they constantly drum beated that high gas prices in 2008 were because of Bush that people will not also blame this President for much higher prices?
