Good grief. So he attended the LDS church as a child for three years. He has since been a practicing Catholic and was married in the Catholic Church.

I am LDS and do not hold it against him or his family that he left the LDS church. Everyone has the right to make their own choices. I would expect nobody should hold it against an 8-11 year old that his parents chose to attend and LDS church for those years when he was a child.

They used their own free conscience and their rights to worship as they see fit and made the choice they desired and felt was right in their heart. God bless them...they are good, decent, honest people.

He is also a strong conservative and loves this nation and its constitution.

I'd vote for Marco Rubio in a heart beat and know he would do far, far better for this nation than anyone in the Obama admin, and most in the GOP if the truth be told.

What a strange statement Jeff. It does say much about lds, however.

There are some here on FR who, at the mere mention of the word ‘MORMON’ begin jactitating like gut-shot coyotes...

Blood atonement for apostasy

Most discussion of blood atonement during the Mormon Reformation concerned the killing of "covenant breakers." The greatest covenant breakers were thought to be "apostates," who according to early Mormon doctrine would become sons of perdition and for whom "there is no chance whatever for exaltation." Nevertheless, Brigham Young believed that blood atonement would have at least some benefit. Young's first discussion of blood atonement in 1845 concerned a man who may have been considered an apostate in Nauvoo, Illinois . On February 8, 1857, Young said, regarding apostates, that "if their blood had been spilled, it would have been better for them." Young warned these apostates that although "[t]he wickedness and ignorance of the nations forbid this principle's being in full force, ...the time will come when the law of God will be in full force," meaning that apostates would be subject to theocratic blood atonement. In August 1857, Heber C. Kimball echoed Young's statements about apostates, stating that "if men turn traitors to God and His servants, their blood will surely be shed, or else they will be damned, and that too according to their covenants."

Apostle Heber C. Kimball (1802 - 1868):

“I have not a doubt but there will be hundreds who will leave us and go away to our enemies. I wish they would go this fall: it might relieve us from much trouble; for if men turn traitors to God and His Servants, their blood will surely be shed, or else they will be damned, and that too according to their covenants.”

- Apostle Heber C. Kimball, Journal of Discourses, v. 4, p. 375; online at http://journals.mormonfundamentalism.org/Vol_04/refJDvol4-70.html
