Obama courts the black vote. Santorum courts the holy vote.

I am a Christian and a Conservative. So far I have kept an open mind during the primaries. I have to admit that Santorum is growing on me. I like that he is not shy about his Christianity and pro-life beliefs. I even appreciated his honesty last night when he had to defend some positions he took in support of the “team”, while he was the Senate whip. Heck, most of the Senators who say they are supporting Romney, took the same positions as Rick. You don’t see Romney disowning their support. In my mind, Santorum has not hurt himself with his honesty and actually helped himself because it is refreshing in this day and age.

Make accusations like that again and I will take you to the man! That was completely uncalled for. Especially from a loud mouthed n00b who thinks he knows it all!

It’s about time church-going conservatives had someone to speak for them.

Rick Santorum captures the essence of their beliefs and is a worthy representative of Bible-believing citizens.

“he took in support of the “team”,”

If I may? Santorum did mention the word team and here is what he said. He was defending his liberal votes but mostly his support of Arlen Spector, who in fact changed parties, republican to democrat, which gave them the 60 votes they needed for Obamacare. He also defended several other liberal votes he had made and when he was stuck, he said, “POLITICS IS A TEAM SPORT.” Several times he admitted that he voted AGAINST his own principles. Don’t be fooled by this morality and religion, as I believe he is using it to obtain votes.

I disagree. All Santorum is proposing is to level the playing field, and thereby not push any more manufacturers out of America. Hopefully, bring some back. The crazy notion that America can prosper as a purely service economy is not borne out by experience and common sense, and believe me, this is one major reason that Santorum has surged. People are sick of technocrat “logic”. Bob

Santorum courts the votes of those who remember a better, stonger America with solid family values, and those who are sick to death of 50 years of liberal disasters. Bob

-—IOW, Santorum’s support is coming from the people who make this country work correctly.-——

Sad. The productive class keeps getting smaller. This can’t end well.

Santorum’s recent rise in the polls has come mostly from those who attend religious services weekly, those who live in the Midwest and conservatives.
***Sounds like a good base to me.

I’m a big tent republican.
http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/1821435/posts?page=6245#6245
Here’s an analogy to work with. Take a small box and fill it with some rocks. Then add some rice, filling it to the top. Now take all the same stuff, but in a different order. Put in the rice first, then add the rocks. What you’ll find is that if you put in the big stuff first, the small stuff will fit around it. But if you put in the small stuff first, the big stuff won’t have room. The republican tent is the box. The Big issues are the socon issues, to be put in first. The little issues are things that can be accommodated around the bigger stuff. A candidate who tries to focus on the smaller issues first and leave out the bigger issues has no way of getting all of us into the tent. He splits the party. The candidate who gets the big stuff right and as much of the little stuff that will fit, he can fit more into the tent. We’re often amazed at how much rice can keep fitting in. Rudy Giuliani flunks some of the big issues, and on some of the little issues it looks to me like anyone else’s rice would do just as well. All that remains for us to agree on is which are the bedrock principles and which are not. Why would there be so much invective aimed at rudy from the right? Because there are some bedrock principles that he is leaving out. Bad move. I see rudybot postings all the time saying that they would vote for Hunter, and I see socon postings that say they would not vote for rudy. That’s a BIG indicator of a few bedrock principles that are being left outside the tent in order to let in some rice.
