But there is one way to stymie the web giant's attempts to build a permanent profile of you that could include personal information including age, gender, locality and even sexuality. From March 1, you won't be able to opt out of the new policy, which has been criticised by privacy campaigners who have filed a complaint to U.S. regulators. About 15% of men have their “sexuality” listed as “lesbian” if the computer has to figure it out.

Once you’ve browsed, It has been recorded like a cached page. Deleting your history will not matter.
It’s just like Facebook. You can delete your posts, pictures, and private messages, but the information has already been cached on their servers for who knows how long and for what purpose.

Google’s quickly turned into the biggest POS organization in computing today.
Which is impressive considering you have to jump over Apple and Microsoft to snag the top spot.

I actually know a male lesbian. His family was stationed on the Isle of Lesbos and he was born there. He loves to say that he’s a lesbian.

No, it means they can only track you by means of the IP address your ISP assigns to your computer. It would take legal action to get your name from the ISP, but that wouldn’t stop Google from, for example, targeting you with ads that reflect the browsing history from that PC. So if Junior Googles swimsuit models, maybe the next time Mom tries to download a recipe, she’ll get a bikini ad alongside.

If you’ve been to Google, you have an account from what I understand. You just have to create a password to access it and change settings.

I've noticed that if I try to Google industrial products Google takes me to mostly a bunch of Chinese web sites instead of domestic suppliers too. I had already decided to dump google over that alone.

Add Youtube on to that.
Tracking companies are now using “super” cookies that cleanup software may have no effect upon.
If you’re interested on what’s going in and out of your computer when you browse, install a program called “fiddler.” It’s a web debugging tool.
You’ll be shocked.

I'm pretty sure that neither type of ad reflects my browsing history.

You’ve probably given google info without knowing it. They’ve bought many many companies through the years. From YouTube to Motorola Mobility to Zagat restaurant reviews, it’s nearly impossible to have been on the web for a few years and not had one of your websites bought by the goog.
