Geithner: 'Privilege of Being an American' Is Why Rich Need Higher Taxes
WWW.WeeklyStandard.com ^ | 2/24/2012 | Daniel Halper

Posted on 02/24/2012 11:16:26 AM PST by Rudder

"That’s the kind of balance you need," said Geithner. "Why is that the case? Because if you don't try to generate more revenues through tax reform, if you don't ask, you know, the most fortunate Americans to bear a slightly larger burden of the privilege of being an American, then you have to -- the only way to achieve fiscal sustainability is through unacceptably deep cuts in benefits for middle class seniors, or unacceptably deep cuts in national security."

Geithner, speaking this morning on CNBC, says the rich must pay more for the privilege of being American. Class warfare is where it's at for Obama, et al. Video at link.

That’s some great logic there, Turbo Timmy.

So, according to you, the poor need higher taxes because they also have the privilege of being American.

Isn't this the same fella who seemed to have difficulty over the years with Turbotax,a product that walks you through the process that millions of average Americans can successfully do?

Good. Does this mean he’s going to start paying his taxes now?

I wish this country was back to the days where the Obamas or Geithners were put on trial for treason like they deserve.

Right, does that mean that if “the rich” don’t “pay their fair share” that their American Citizenship can/will be stripped??? Just asking.

So this ass clown said, “the only way to achieve fiscal sustainability is through unacceptably deep cuts in benefits for middle class seniors, or unacceptably deep cuts in national security.”

Middle class Seniors or National Security.

Words fail me.

like Obama, Geithner spent most of his childhood in other countries and didn't grow up here. Both have parents that worked for the Ford Foundation.

They both seem to have a grudge against America, and some perceived unfairness.

The Constitution is the document that would limit government action against its citizens, but we have a President that believes it is a ‘charter of negative liberties’.
Without common understanding of government between citizens, we have no nation, just a place to live.

The guy’s fulla sh*t, plain and simple.

The rich DO pay more - and a helluva lot more, too.

ANY percentage of a million bucks is gonna be astronomical when compared to the same percentage of fifty or eighty thousand.

And supposing I’m rich - what am I getting out of my tax dollar that Joe Shmoe isn’t getting for far less?

In fact, Joe Shmoe is almost certainly getting more in terms of government goods and services.

Marxist reasoning is fallacious reasoning.

In fact, this whole line - that we hear so often from government commissars - is purest bullsh*t.

It’s nothing but a lie perpetuated to justify the purchase of Joe Shmoe’s vote - and at a steep discount, too.
