Rush: America Likes Santorum

The fact that Republican presidential candidate Rick Santorum is a “good family man” is why he has gained traction recently with voters, according to radio talk-show host Rush Limbaugh.

“My guess [why Santorum’s popularity is rising] might have to do with the fact that it’s now widely known that Santorum is a loving, devoted father,” Rush argued.

A recent Washington Post/ABC News story stated that Santorum is winning more support from Republican women and is “less unpopular” among Democrat and independent women than his GOP rivals Mitt Romney and Newt Gingrich despite his views on abortion, contraception, and prenatal screenings as being perceived by the mainstream media as extreme.

“Santorum does not have an extreme view on contraception,” Limbaugh argued. “He’s not said a thing about it other than he wouldn’t come up with a government program to deal with whatever his view is.”

So was Jimmy Carter. He even taught Sunday school.

Now if Santorum would just avoid his run-on sentence problem and stop and pause when answering questions, he’d be in business. My brain can’t process his endless chatter!

Grapes can be sour - and make a valid point - at the same time. The two notions are NOT mutually exclusive.

Neither this Republic nor the Republican Party will survive another compassionate conservative. Fiscally, Santorum is to the left of Bush.

Rather than make a principled stand he would rather look to the Federal government for "balance". Wow.

He gave a pretty good economic speech tonight. Having spent my working life in manufacturing its pretty nice to hear someone speak about the need to get rid of what is effectively a VAT tax in manufacturing.

I agree. RS is Bush redux, without the Texas charm. I think Rush is missing this one worse than anything he’s ever missed. Of course, for 23 years, he’s been mostly on the money.

Hey, Rick Santorum is the one who said he was a “progressive conservative” back in 1990 while running for his first term in the Senate.

Senator Santorum’s record is as conservative as any pro-life Democrat’s record.

“Rush: America Likes Santorum”

Wrong, Americans are being TOLD they like Santorum and enough of them are lemmings to believe anything they are told.

Hi CEW,

I think part of Rush's analysis is based on how well Santorum is still doing with women...despite the trumped up contraception crap.

I'm definitely a hard core Newt supporter, but could and would vote for Santorum. BTW, Newt did superb on “The Great One’s” show

I'm really hoping Newt has a strong surge in the next week.

I agree with you, but we’re past the point of navel-gazing and cutting-bait. Just a few more colorful metaphors and I’ll let it go.
We’re close to the short-strokes. This spring, summer conventions and we’re still saying, “On one hand, on the other ...”?
Anyone but Rombama. Open convention. Roll out a red carpet for Palin. Make Mittens think he’s got it in the bag. Hand everyone a rolled up newspaper. Battle Royale!
When the dust settles (worth repeating): Anyone but Romney.

We then proceed to recreate 1980: http://uselectionatlas.org/RESULTS/national.php?year=1980

The country sends the boy-king Soetero packing and we begin the hard work of cleaning up his mess.

I think you are right about part of what is fueling Rush’ analysis. What shocks me is how totally unfamiliar with Santorum’s liberal dalliances Rush is. I also think with his cochlear implant he does not hear some of the tones in Santorum’s voice that are a turn off to many folks. AND:
He is not getting the prep he used to (and I know some of the inside story on that BTW). He just isn’t.

I don’t blame him. He’s been incredible for 23 years. Invented an entire industry and is still the best at it. But there is slippage. Human nature is what it is. I sense slippage here.
