Boston, MA Mitt Romney today announced the support of Tea Party leaders in Michigan.
In my campaign, I have fought for the conservative principles of lower spending, lower taxes and less government intrusion into our lives and our businesses, said Mitt Romney. The Tea Party has been at the frontline of this same fight. Along with the help of these Tea Party leaders, we can defeat President Obama and finally get Washington out of the way.
Maribeth Schmidt, Co-Founder Of Rattle With Us: As a mother of three and a Tea Party activist, my main concern is the 15 trillion dollar debt and I believe that Governor Romney has it right when he says that he will look at every government program and ask two questions: Can we afford it? and if not, Is it important enough to borrow money from China for? His positions on the national debt, Right to Work, domestic energy, and reducing the wages of government employees to match the private sector are why I am supporting him in Tuesdays primary.
Dennis Moore, Founder/Former Director-Willow Run Tea Party Caucus: Leaders lead without putting a wetted finger in the air seeking consensus. Mitt Romney will be a Reaganesque president. I could not in good conscience watch as the Tea Party invokes a litmus test that Ronald Reagan himself would have failed. So I led by personally endorsing Mitt Romney. This country needs Mitt Romney!

Tea Party is turning into a real fail. I give up
Uh, there are no TEA Party leaders. This is bogus!
And some slam Santorum questioning the motives of some Tea Party people and Libertarians. Right here is all the evidence you need.
And they are essentially anti-Santorum.
I would count myself among them.
That's not to say I would not vote for Santorum in a General election, because I most certainly WOULD. But he is my last choice in the primaries.
Last.
“Endorse” him? I won’t even hold my nose and vote for him. Period.
I give up also. A bunch of power-hungry political groupies are co-opting the Tea Party. I can’t stand it! Why do we continue to allow these infiltrators and media to define us.
WE ARE THE TEA PARTY DAMMIT!!
And this is supposed to make me support Mitt Romney? I don’t think so.
Sounds like the establishment is making inroads infiltrating....
That’s not tea.
That’s dope.
Seriously. Fake tea, means nothing.
And henceforth, they shall be known as the Michigan Brie Party, for endorsing the establishment candidate.
Dennis, Did you look at Romney's record, or did he successfully BS you in Milford?
Really? My thoughts trended towards money will buy...just about anything.
Hey! I like brie, especially the kind with herbs mixed into the cheese.
Headfake. Mitt’s e-stab people are running out of arrows.
I was thinking the very same thing. Romney has bought a lot of support in his two runs for the nomination.
It is apparent that we did not give The Leaders of the Michigan Tea Party an IQ test before installing them.
I wonder how much Romney paid them.
That could be it too, but the first time I ever heard about the Tea Party I knew it was just a matter of time before the powers that be would try to infiltrate.
I know back when Romney ran for president in 08, he donated $2000 to almost every Republican group out there.
This wouldn't surprise me a bit, especially combined with Romney talking the talk.
When someone buys support, I tend to wonder which one in the deal is more stupid.
It’s getting to the point where Romney and his supporters are nearly as non compos mentis as 0bama and his supporters. I swear, they all suffer from the same delusions.
Weak Tea. Tea you want to spit out.
Such a liar!
I question this big-time, especially after the last midterm election.
For those who didn’t hear, we had Democrat party operatives posing as “The Tea Party,” filing notices for people to run for office without their consent, forged signatures AND the violation of a Notary oath (I used to be one, so this REALLY grates me the wrong way, especially when they got off with a wrist slap).
I call foul on this BIG time.
That ain’t no TEA. I smell donkey pi$$.
You make an excellent point! I sure hope so.
We’ve seen so mnay people bought off by Romney in this election cycle, I’m beginning to understand what President Truman said about Congress being President: being President is like being a piano player in a whore house.
I assume he meant everyone in Congress was for sale.
I am really not surprised because I recall one of the Tea Party leaders in Michigan, saying last year,
There is only the TEA party tsunami on election day that you ‘never saw coming’. You won’t see it coming this November, either.
They seem to infiltrate everything. Maybe someone should infiltrate BACK and try to bring the Dem Party back towards the general direction of sanity.
Absolutely right! The Tea Party Movement is grass roots with no leaders. Those who claim to be are liars. However, the media is eager to anoint some as leaders when they are not.
Wow, Romney?
Romney must’ve offered them a lifetime supply of peanuts.
I am stunned...
I Don't have a home and I am on my own...
I have been here with another id for years that I gave up when I worked 2 jobs while caring for a ill sibling. My spouse has been here a long time. Yes, I saw the TP guy on Fox business saying this/so, I say, they were given promises. Too many people are buying into the electable factor. imo.
Yes, I saw the TP guy on Fox business
Only the TEA tsunami in November.
I heard Beck interview Santorum yesterday on GBTV and Beck asked him “You know there is a split in the tea party don’t you? Some are with the OWS crowd!” Santorum said “yes.” They are including the Ron Paul supporters in the tea party.
Effing traitors.
We already have a narcisses in the White House we sure don't need a repeat of that.
Not Tea Party. So called self-named TP leaders.
There are NONE! The TP is a sentiment not an
Organization.
We had Senator Patty Murray's term come up a couple of years ago. That is the same time when the Tea Parties started. We started hearing about one here backing Clint Didier to take over Patty Murray. We went to a couple of gatherings and it didn't take us long to realize our local so called Tea Party was an organization of Ron Paul's libertarians. I haven't gone to another gathering.
This is just corruption! Goodbye Republican Party! NOW is the time for OUR own party.
this is what happens when all the conservatives attack each other and let the liberal get a pass.
Unbelievable.
Everyone should of had their gun targetted on Romney from day one and not let up until he left the race... then and only then should they have turned on each other.
Dennis Moore’s web site:

Just read a little of his stuff, and he sounds Ben Gleckish in that he’s got a lot of bluster and bullheadedness. He sounds like the kind of person who would get arrogant and start leading people down a path claiming that he “knows” it’s the way out, and not be willing to admit that he’s completely wrong until it’s far too late. He posted his phone number as 734-644-5583 so why not give him a call and give him a piece of your mind.
Here is a web site with contact form for the Rattle with Us Tea Party which the other woman mentioned in the article was from:

I get the sense these are the type of Tea Parties inspired by Ben Gleck...a lot of emotion and bluster combined with a dangerous willingness to abandon clearheaded thinking and logic.
” - - - endorsing Governor Mitt Romney for President because I believe he is the candidate that has the best chance to defeat President Obama. If he follows through with everything that he spoke about in his presentation, our country will be able to change course and be the exceptional nation we once were.
Hey! I remember Ol’ Lame-Brain McCain supporters using the same logic in 2008. I call it the “Hold-yer-nose-when-you-vote” pitiful plea. When you hear it, you know their stinky candidate is way past L-O-S-T.
All humor aside, we now know the Litmus Test for who among us is really not TAXED ENOUGH ALREADY. Scratch them off the list of future GOP leaders when we take over the GOP after Tampa, 2012.
BTW, I’ve noticed that RINOs just love the socks off of Mittens.
I haven’t lived in MI for about a decade, but I’m going to venture a guess (admittedly without reading the full article) that these people are more than likely residing in and around Ann Arbor. Romney would be about as conservative as Ann Arbor is capable of. The west side of the state as a whole is much more conservative especially Grand Haven and Holland areas.
Everybody knows Newt is the most conservative, Santorum is second. Romney is Business As Usual. That’s why the inside elite fight so hard to have him.
Don't be a fool. There is no such thing as a "tea party leader".
brings new meaning to the term damn yankees
Willow Run is the east side of Ypsi. It's heavily union and democrat.
Brighton is one of the most conservative areas in southeast Michigan but George Romney was buried there.
Birmingham is next door to Romney's old hometown. They may well known some of the Romney family.
Plymouth is a largely establishment republican area.
