Twenty-two passengers on Carnival Splendor were robbed at gunpoint Thursday while on a ship-sponsored tour in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico.

At least one Mexican media outlet said the passengers were returning by bus to their ship at approximately 5 p.m. after spending time in El Nogalito, a tourist area known for its lush natural setting. Masked assailants stopped the bus and robbed the cruisers of their money, watches, cameras and other valuables.

You have to avoid the west coast of Mexico. HEAVY drug and crime area. Most cruise lines have pulled out and those remaining have cut back their destinations.

My guess is we won’t be seeing these people on the Mexico Taxi Project commercials.

When will people learn...there is a reason most of the cruise lines have pulled out of San Diego and will not go to Mexico.

I wonder what the bus driver's cut was?

Have we not been saying how unsafe anywhere in Mexico is? People that just want a cheap cruise now see why it was so cheap.

Years ago, wife and I liked to visit Ixtapa after Christmas. Inexpensive, fun, warm and safe. Not any more.

Another reason why I hate Mexico and it’s people. What do you suppose the situation is going to be like in that crap-hole in five more years?

We visited Ixtapa several times while stationed in Mexico City back in the 90s. Thought it was heaven on earth, but I wouldn’t go back there now on a bet.

More third world hell.

And then the “immigration standards” (whatever the hell those are) will be relaxed (with the full cooperation of the Mexican government and both sides of ours) for “humanitarian purposes.

Poll from the site:

Would you take a vacation in Mexico?

No — it’s dangerous. 87%

Yes — this is an anomaly. 13%

Total Votes: 10966

That 13% has to be liberals

Other links there tell the story:

Puerto Vallarta says it’s safe despite Princess canceling calls

Mexico looks for rebound in U.S. tourists

Time to say adios to Mexico travel?

Beware the hard sell at vacation resorts

Question: Why are some countries hell holes and some countries are not ?

Answer: Because of the people who live there.
