Why would they spend billions on a ship if the catapults might not work? What kind of sense would that make?
This ain’t the French ship deGaulle!

I think it will be an easier deck to run because your parking areas aren't split by the island. I also would be surprised if they turned that area in the back into the "Hummer" hole to keep the props away from the rest of the deck. You also don't have as much stuff between the island (where the ACLS gear is) and the ramp. Makes sense. You reckon the OOD will still be able to spot the Mail Buoy Watch up on the fwd catwalk? :>}
I remember one night we had a bridge load of VIP's during flight ops. One Tomcat came in too low and smacked off the landing gear. The plane turned toward the island at first and pilot corrected with thrust then popped out. I didn't see it but we sure did hear it though.

SONOBUOY PING!
Click on pic for past Navair pings. Post or FReepmail me if you wish to be enlisted in or discharged from the Navair Pinglist. The only requirement for inclusion in the Navair Pinglist is an interest in Naval Aviation. This is a medium to low volume pinglist.

Sounds as if.... drum roll... Gerald Ford stumbled again.
Thank you, thank you; I’ll be here through the end of the month.

I’m sure you know of a way to build a brand new aircraft carrier without making any mistakes or design changes. Perhaps you should submit a proposal to the Navy.

“Chicken feed. Pocket change.”
I’m absolutely sick of hearing this from so-called conservatives. It is NOT “chicken feed”. It’s a billion dollars. Conservatives are as bad as liberals when it comes to spending. Spending too much is apparently OK when it’s “ours”.
