Finally, a 21st century movie that doesn’t portray our military as corrupt, stupid, confused torturers who murder innocent babies.
Act of Valor, which opened this weekend, features active (and anonymous) Navy SEALs in the re-creation of real events that showcase our crème de la crème rescuing our operatives and crushing our enemies in an OMG type of way.
I’ve got two words for the manner in which our boys were depicted in this flick … Sa-lute!
If I were a wannabe enemy of the U.S.A. (foreign or domestic) I’d be crapping my cargo pants (or tunic) after viewing Act of Valor—chiefly because our special forces are some bad mamajambas who have the tools and the tenacity to jack you up.
Yep, be afraid, villains, as our troops are effective ministers of God poised, ready and willing with stealth and style to inflict the wrath of God on those who do evil. I’m talkin’ Romans 13:1-5 style. Look it up if you don’t know what I’m talking about.
Another thing that I truly enjoyed about this film was the unambiguous patriotism of the soldiers and their families. Yep, no whining about their missions from their families or the SEALs who sacrificed their lives and limbs for God and country. It almost felt like I was in America again as I watched this movie. It was weird—but a good weird.
Even though it’s shocking to see our troops displayed in a magnificent manner within this Occuculture that loathes them, it was not a shocker to me; I have had the good fortune to spend time with many of our special ops and other soldiers in hunting camps from Alaska to Texas and have found them just as the movie displayed them: consummate class acts without a hint of the BS Hollyweird has smeared them with over the last decade.
I can’t say enough good things about this movie. In the theater in which my wife and I watched it we spotted several older gents and couples who sat in their seats and silently wept as the credits rolled. It was sacred.
I’m sure all the scabs and the venomous wood lice of the Left are going to crawl out from under the rocks where they dwell and bash this war pic, but that’s alright. Our SEALs and others have afforded you the right to be stupid and bray your insanity by keeping bad guys at bay, both at home and abroad, and thereby giving you the wherewithal to play your silly and ungrateful games against our fair land.
Lastly, parents, take your teenagers to see Act of Valor. Maybe, just maybe, some of the courage, patriotism and dignity depicted in this film will erase the film this crappy culture has slimed your kid with.
God bless America, our warriors who protect her, and those involved with this movie. Amen.
This is not a “inside” Hollyweird film. It is a must see for everyone. Protest the Hollywood Left by buying a ticket. Heck, get your friends together and go, but make sure you go.

The guys couldn’t get more real since they are the real deal. Everything was real. The guys did a great job for acting neophytes. Top notch.
It’s a military movie, so what do they expect? Yes there is blood and gore, but tell them to look away. The squeamish folks need to understand what we are up against, not just by words. They need to get mad at the enemy rather than squeamie. But then that’s just me.
You go and then tell them what you think.
Then you’d have to question the mentality of the military. When I served in the Army in the ‘70s the F word was prevelant. Probably hasn’t changed. It’s like using the word “man” that was widely used in ‘70s, or “bitchin’”, or others. It was a bad habit that was accepted and had to be broken by the user.
The left could care less about the slaughter of innocents. Marxists started with the premise of murder and continued terror and murder in the achievement of power. One can point to numerous acts of murder and terror committed by leftist governments and individuals and today's leftists could not care less. It is only when the leftists are being persecuted that they begin to really care about human rights - THEIR human rights. They will never admit that they were wrong.
I have seen AOV twice and I know that I will see it at least one more time.
Hey I was in WW II. There was a fellow from NJ who was going back to Harvard when he got out. He intended to write a paper on the use of the F word as used in every part of speech. He said it was the most powerful word every used in its flexibility.
It was a concern of ours too, however, the movie didn’t show everything. Plus, I’m sure SEALS wouldn’t particate in a movie that jeapordized their fellow SEALS. Nor would this have been made without approval. What better way to intimidate the enemy (hopefully). And if the enemy blows this off as just Hollywood, then our guys will blow them off. Win-win.
The cowards, the narcissists, the vain : they are unlikely to have the heart it takes to make it though the program. There is a reason why there is such a tough initiation.
Except they are the greediest bastards in the world. If it makes money expect an Army version, and even a coastie version. Does the Air force do anything cool anymore?

SnakeEater didn’t have the complaint, he’s just repeating what he heard. You are right about the Senior Chief’s speech. It was a great one. Spot on about living our lives as they do.
I didn’t know Martin (cousin on brother-in-law’s side) very well. I only met him twice with the last time at Christmas three years ago. He was one of the funniest, family oriented, warm people I’ve known, and committed to his Special Forces career. Unfortunately, his son who wasn’t born will not get to meet his outstanding dad. Martin was killed in action last year in Afghanistan. Wish I could have known him better. AoV is as much a tribute to SF as it is to the SEALs. God bless ‘em all.

As for removing the troops from the Stan and redeploying them to the southern border, keep in mind that we must meet the enemy wherever it’s evil heads appear. The octopus analogy that was once used for communism is still relevant, but there are more than one octupi in the “ocean”. This one has tentacles all over. I recommend seeing “Charlie Wilson’s War” as a way of understanding why we’re in Afghanistan now. And since we are there, it is untenable that we should leave.

I disagree. We should not retreat from Afghanistan. We can put troops there, but we have to walk and chew gum. Global terrorism is like an octopus. We have to be able to confront it wherever. The SEALs are global, not regional. Would you have the Navy keep the ships just off our shores? Rather than cruising the seas and oceans? Probably not. Same applies here.

Should have put a spoiler alert in that one, or just simply said that it isn’t what some people are trying to paint. My boyfriend had heard the same thing, and was reluctant. I told him that I bet it was a secular Jew (obviously) since an observant one wouldn’t do this. We went yesterday. He’s upset with the person who told him.
By-the-way, I didn’t think the Russian guy (Crisco...hahaha) was a merely a drug smuggler. He was more of an opportunist. Either way, scum.

So they were using it back then...wow. I didn’t think it came along til the ‘70s. Wonder if that guy ever wrote that paper. It would have been interesting. I tried to get the guys to not use it around me. Guess how that worked out. Then I somewhat picked up the bad habit of cursing, until I met my boyfriend. He doesn’t curse (around me at least). We’re both educated and fairly intelligent, so to do so would demonstrate the opposite. We have good vocabularies (especially him). Don’t need to cuss to express ourselves.
I understood that, implied in SnakeEater's comments however was that they were inclined to believe those "complaints" and appeared to be basing their decision on whether or not to view the movie based on those complaints.
My intent in my response was to get SnakeEater to put aside the "complaints" and make up his/her own mind by going to see the movie. As for me, I'd purposefully not read any reviews of the movie. Part of what influenced me to go was an interview with the two producers on Fox News this past week. They seemed to be genuine in their respect and admiration for those who serve our country, and I personally had no interest in seeing a "hit piece."
I'm glad I went, the movie raised my level of respect for all who serve up another level. Via that movie, we were given an insight into the lives of our country's best and brightest that we'd otherwise never see. For that, it was worth the price of admission - and a whole lot more.
Given your own connection to one of those great men portrayed in the film, there is a unique, special significance for you that the rest of us may likely never know. You met a great man who served a calling far greater than himself. He, his wife, and son whom he won't meet on this earth should have our unending respect and gratitude for their sacrifice.
