Dems may opt to vote on GOP ballot to create upset

Dissent over what one state Democratic leader called Michigan's "phony" bipartisan election may inspire Democrats to cross party lines and vote on Tuesday's Republican primary ballot, Democratic Party leaders in the state said.

If Democrats vote on Tuesday's GOP ballot, they could potentially create an upset in the contest, in which contenders Mitt Romney and Rick Santorum appear to be in a dead heat for Michigan's Republican delegates.

someone on Fox said 2 days ago that the unions were planning on voting for Rick to eek out a win to take Mitt down as they see Rick as the weaker of those 2 men in a general... so, how do people really know what a candidate's support really is based on..

I’m encouraging my democrat relatives to do the same. If they’re dumb enough to throw me into the briar patch, so be it.

Crossing over party lines and voting for the Republican most easily defeated would be a smart move on the part of the Democrats.

This is nothing but collusion between Mitt Romney, Obama and Michigan democrats to make sure that Mitt wins Michigan.

Any state Republican Party that still allows Democrats and phony “Independents” to vote in its primary should have its credentials yanked and not be allowed to have any delegates at the national convention. South Carolina Democrats elected McCain in the ‘08 primary, knowing that he was a weak candidate and would lose to their nominee in the presidential election.

How long will the national Republican Party remain clueless?

The GOP to protect the nominating process gots to come up with a system to not just prevent democrats from voting in GOP primaries but also prevent democrats from registering as Republicans.

There should be some kind of test to see who really is and who is not a true conservative Republican. Maybe a written tests or making them pay dues.

This misinformation is getting rather annoying. And you would think someone from the Livingston Daily would know this.

So exactly how do you close a primary? Take them in a room, put a gun to their head while they vote?

MI does not have an open primary contrary to poor journalism and the rats stirring their union pot, rules were changed this year.

Some may not know this, obviously including people on this board that should - in fact there are recent articles pointing out that when rats showed up to get their absentee ballots and had to request GOP ballots many just passed them up. These would be the troublemakers.

In Michigan:

You must be registered with the SOS 30 days out. No same day registration nonsense.

You must then show a picture ID to cast this vote.

Then you must request a ‘partisan’ GOP ballot at the polling which becomes a public record as it is numbered with your name attached to that ballot and that information is then available to outside groups through the SOS and is in fact public info.

IOW there really is no such thing as an absolute ‘closed primary’ as this is still America and you can still vote for the candidate of choice - am not worried about mischief so much like in other years.

Said another way if the Michigan 2010 elections were any indication the rats voted GOP in droves as they had deep discontent with Granholm, Obama, Dingy, Pelosi, Stupak, etc. and in addition to the slaughter at the state level we also picked up two congressional seats, and this was an *open* election.

Whatever crossover voting will likely be intended to be against democrats particularly this fall, people have had it with rats here. And if democrats have had enough with their party and want to hand more power to the GOP at their own peril who are we to stop them?

Did you know that not a single democrat at the MI state level was elect higher than county? Not one.

Yeah, that strategy worked so well for the Republicans in 2008.

Trying to stop Eva Perone, we got Karl Marx Jr. instead

I 150% agree with, there is no way this is right for those of us who play by the rules. All states should have a CLOSED PRIMARY, period. I am so disgusted with this fraudulent process.

So, what criteria would you propose to qualify an individual to vote in a primary election?

So, in closed primary states, how do you qualify to vote in any particular party’y primary? (I’m from an open primary state., so I don’t know what I would have to do to vote in a primary election in a closed primary state, if I were transferred suddenly and moved to a closed-primary state and wanted to vote in an upcoming primary election.

Simple: Register at any tag agency in the party of your choice. You are only allowed to vote your party in the Primary.

We also have now, the voter ID law, must show something to prove who you are.

We vote via a machine, which tabulates the results NOW, so as soon as the POLLS close, within 30 mins to an hour we know who won.

If you do a search of: voter regristration in Okla., you can read our laws.

Sorry, for some reason I can no long copy and paste into FR., don't know if something has changed in FR, or it is my computer/mouse problem.

Doesn’t the fate of our nation hinge on this Michigan primary?
Isn’t it the Armageddon of Presidential battles?
Or is it simply thirty delegates proportional by Congressional District?
But it’s the Mittiot vs Santorum for the keys to the kingdom!!!
America loves a drama and the media is handing you one.
Get a grip America…
