S.F. billionaire quietly funds Ron Paul super PAC
San Francisco Chronicle ^ | 2/26/12 | Richard S. Dunham, Carla Marinucci

Posted on 02/26/2012 12:39:38 PM PST by SmithL

Ron Paul revels in the fact that he is the presidential candidate of America's small donors, receiving more contributions under $200 than any other Republican seeking the White House in 2012.

But, like every other GOP presidential contender, he also has a mega-millionaire "sugar daddy" helping to fund a super PAC that is promoting Paul's candidacy.

Yet while Newt Gingrich underwriter Sheldon Adelson and Rick Santorum super-supporter Foster Friess have shared the campaign stage - and the national political spotlight - with their candidates, Paul's benefactor, San Francisco entrepreneur Peter Thiel, has never met the Texas congressman he's aiding.

Who is this mystery man who has donated $2.6 million to Endorse Liberty, the pro-Paul super PAC that has produced several viral videos and sponsored sharp attack ads against Santorum, Gingrich and Texas Gov. Rick Perry?

Thiel, 44, is a low-profile libertarian with a background as quirky as the candidate he supports.

Born in Germany, he's a self-made billionaire who became a chess master as a child, majored in philosophy at Stanford University, and founded the conservative-libertarian Stanford Review to "present alternate views" on a campus he felt was dominated by liberals.

Co-founded PayPal

He's a lawyer who co-founded PayPal, invested early in Facebook (he was portrayed by actor Wallace Langham in the Academy Award-winning "The Social Network"), dabbled in Hollywood (as executive producer of the libertarian satire "Thank You for Smoking"), ran a venture capital firm that saw the potential in startups such as LinkedIn and Yelp, and now serves as president of a global hedge fund, Clarion Capital.

He is a conservative Christian, a strong supporter of unfettered capitalism, an aggressive critic of "political correctness" and a generous donor to Republican candidates, including Paul, his son Kentucky Sen. Rand Paul, and California Republican Reps. Dan Lungren, Dana Rohrabacher and Ed Royce.

More Soros money?

Ron Paul is dangerous.

Ron Paul, Soros and Defense

Before everyone gets their panties in a wad. Obama is already starting to make the moves to destroy our military.
Ron Paul will just drive the knife into their backs.
I thought it was clever how the Obama military haters are going to cut Benefits for veterans and wounded soldiers.
Wonder how far enlistment will drop on that one.

One of Ron Pauls best friends is George Soros..

Won't be a problem at all. In the Baraqqi Depression, military service is one of the few decent jobs available. And with the planned cutbacks in force level, it will make the openings even more desirable.

You can’t possibly be a conservative and be a libertarian at the same time. Libertarians like Ron Paul, Andrew Napolitano, Gary Johnson and John Stossel are leftists in every way except they believe in an anarchist’s approach to government. They believe in open borders, legalized drugs, legalized prostitution, dismantling our military, the rights of states to secede from the union, etc. The libertarian agenda is a radical agenda that would absolutely destroy this country. It would be wrong to dismiss Ron Paul as a nut. He’s a clever opportunist, building up a cultlike following for his own personal profit, but the ideology he is pushing is a poisonous, ignorant and dangerous one.

Newt Gingrich is the only guy in this race who is for true reform based on common sense and the constitution and is willing to challenge the establishment to get it done.

If you analyze it I believe the very heart and soul of conservatism is libertarianism. I think conservatism is really a misnomer just as liberalism is a misnomer for the liberals–if we were back in the days of the Revolution, so-called conservatives today would be the Liberals and the liberals would be the Tories.

The basis of conservatism is a desire for less government interference or less centralized authority or more individual freedom and this is a pretty general description also of what libertarianism is.

COLLUSION ADMITTED – Ron Paul Fingered, Attacking Gingrich & Santorum for Romney
*Romney is the U.N. Agenda 21 candidate favored by the bankster/globalist manipulators; a very alarming, perhaps treasonous alliance
*Romney has a track record of strong ties to the homosexual agenda
*The global governance (para-Marxist) movement is about sexual as well as socioeconomic revolution
*Ron Paul has numerous problematic liaisons that call his conservative persona into question

For more on Thiel, see “Follow Ron Paul’s Money too: Peter Thiel, Globalist, Bilderberger, GOProud Activist.” For more on the candidate in question, see the Gulag Bound tag, “Ron Paul.”

If you’re talking about them as basic concepts you could maybe make that connection, but I’m talking about them as the movements are defined today. Libertarianism is a lot closer to the left-wing than it is to the right-wing. It combines Dennis Kucinich’s views on the military with La Raza’s views on immigration, the radical feminist movement and the radical homosexual movement. The dismantling of government that libertarians want goes far beyond what conservatives would want, mainly because it goes far beyond what would even be necessary for a society to function and for America to remain a credible power on the world stage.

Then I guess Ronald Reagan wasn't your idea of a conservative:

"If you analyze it I believe the very heart and soul of conservatism is libertarianism. I think conservatism is really a misnomer just as liberalism is a misnomer for the liberals." If we were back in the days of the Revolution, so-called conservatives today would be the Liberals and the liberals would be the Tories. The basis of conservatism is a desire for less government interference or less centralized authority or more individual freedom and this is a pretty general description also of what libertarianism is. Now, I can't say that I will agree with all the things that the present group who call themselves Libertarians in the sense of a party say, because I think that like in any political movement there are shades, and there are libertarians who are almost over at the point of wanting no government at all or anarchy. I believe there are legitimate government functions. There is a legitimate need in an orderly society for some government to maintain freedom or we will have tyranny by individuals. The strongest man on the block will run the neighborhood. We have government to insure that we don't each one of us have to carry a club to defend ourselves. But again, I stand on my statement that I think that libertarianism and conservatism are travelling the same path".

--Ronald Reagan

You must not have even read the article. It is provided from a nationally syndicated newspaper and has pictures and stories of the veterans that marched on the whitehouse. Apparently they all don’t agree that our current foreign policy is in the best interest of our country.

Your use of the word imperial is curious. Did you intend to instead type empirical, or was it some kind of freudian slip related to an empire building obsession?

Here's one of RP's future Libertarian "strong men", fake "republican", Ron Paul-backed former Arizona primary candidate Adam Kokesh, Code Pink and Hamas ally, an ex Marine who so "supports" the troops, he stood outside a U.S. Army base in Germany and encouraged them to desert.

Sorry to burst your bubble, but many of those fine troops who marched there are being led by a communist-and-jihad-sympathizing jackass.
"While not speaking in an official capacity, Adam Kokesh, one of the event organizers, had this to say: “If the grand old party supports the troops enough to listen to them, then Ron Paul will be our next President.”

Kokesh also had some words aimed directly at the current occupant of the White House. “Do not think for one second that you can silence this voice!”

I imagine Kokesh can afford the megaphone, since he's been paid well as an official talking head for Putin's RUSSIA TODAY media empire.

Oh wait, he was fired from Russia Today:

Last week [2011] the Adam Kokesh show on RT (Russian TV), “Adam vs. The Man,” was terminated, possibly because of a complaint filed by “America’s Survival” President Cliff Kincaid’s complaint to the Federal Election Commission alleging violation of U.S. law for using

Russia Today Television facilities to raise money for Ron Paul’s Presidential campaign.

In summary, this is the kind of "pro-military" who are organizing support for Ron Paul: "In an Associated Press story Tuesday about the protest, Kokesh was quoted as saying, "Soldiers need to know that when they decide to resist, they will have the support and thanks of the global moral majority."

THESE ARE LEFT WING SCUM WHO SUPPORT DESERTION. Now please get the message out to the fine men and women in our armed forced who are being duped by Kremlin-paid, jihad-supporters.

“What do you think of NATO allowing Afghanistan to prosecute the troops who burned the Korans?”

Disgraceful. The NATO staff who decided that should be dragged through the streets.

“What do you think of Germany writing the rules of engagement for Afghanistan through NATO?”

Prosecute the NATO commanders.

“What do you say to the families of the officers and troops who have been killed by the afghani police officers trained by our military and American policemen?”

A grateful nation thanks you and apologizes for letting an islamo-marxist CIC risk your loved ones’ lives. In January 2013 we will drag Karzai through the streets, carpet bomb the mosques, and treat Crapghanistan like Germany and Japan:

Massive bombardment followed by dejihadification there, and in our State Department.

“Why do you think, when the headline says NATO troops killed, its always Americans and no one from any other ‘NATO’ country?”

Because, as you know the MSM is in on it with Øbowmao and the Hillary Left and they use NATO as cover to risk American lives.

That doesn’t mean we should trust Ron Paul and his merry band of FAR LEFT, JIHADI APPEASiNG SCUM SUCKING JACKALS to do a better job.

The American military should be used with discretion, and when they are deployed, it should be to ANNIHILATE our enemies and massively break stuff, not to coddle.

We had mostly the right idea after we won WW2 (except for the part of kissing Stalin’s ass): DE-NAZIFICATION.

There’s a reason Germany and Japan have not come back to militarism: We beat the snot out of them, and we made sure the bulk of their politicians, leaders, press, educators, etc were LEARNING ABOUT AMERICAN VALUES.

It’s not perfect, but it beats the crap out of what we have been doing lately, and it certainly is better than letting an idiot like Paul (who thinks iran has no nukes/ war aims against our ONLY ALLY IN THE MID EAST) and his band of hamasshole-licking scum like Adam Kokesh into positions of power.

PS - if you haven’t spent at least 60 minutes exploring those above links on Kokesh, especially digging back to freeper RaceBannon’s article, than you have no clue on who in Ron Paul’s campaign is running your “military support for Ron Paul”, and you are doing our Armed Forces a dis-service claiming Ron Paul will “cut off the looting of the American economy by the globalists”.

RON PAUL IS WORKING WITH THE GLOBALIST LEFT WHO SUPPORT JIHAD AND COMMUNISM. Ron Paul’s “military support” ENCOURAGES OUR ENEMIES TO KILL OUR TROOPS.

Spoken like a true globalist.

Soldiers pledge to defend the Constitution. The American military is for DEFENDING OUR NATION and INDIVIDUAL RIGHTS as defined by the United States Constitution. They are not "used to break stuff" for rotten globalist politicians, foreign governments and trashnational corporations.

Globalists have sunk so low they use ALINSKY tactics to smear anyone and everyone who supports constitutional government, regardless of who it is. They NEED NATO to command our troops so that their agenda can be fulfilled. They have no interest in America other than what they can loot from our economy, and for fodder for useless, lawyer controlled actions through their ROE in their globalist conflicts.

Here’s a hot tip, genius.

Other nations have these things these days called MISSILES. Even former turd world countries like North Korea and Iran.

Terrorists have used these things called HIJACKED AIRPLANES.

Iran and Northo Korea and other nations have nukes they sell to terrorists who can WALK THEM ACROSS OUR BORDERS.

You can’t sit in your bunker and masturbate with your bong and quote Washington and whine about Paul’s “JUST WARS” and wait for ANOTHER STINKING SMOKING HOLE IN AMERICAN GROUND before you hit them back, and then wait while your Left Wing media ALIGNED WITH YOUR LIBERTINE IDIOT ISOLATIONISTS then stabs your troops in the back and questions their mission so they can’t get the job done.

AGAIN.

We FIGHT OVER THERE RATHER THAN OVER HERE.

And YOU are the alinskyite flinging your feces about; NO ONE HERE DEFENDS NWO, Globalists and NATO.

Before the globalists got so much power, there was an ability to have a civil conversation about the American Constitution.

However, globalists have studied Alinsky diligently, and his horrible legacy is constantly displayed in the public arena to stifle legitimate conversation about critical issues facing this Republic.

Shame on your name calling. Shame on your thoughts that the military is to be ‘used’ for globalist purposes.
