[TWO DOZEN] Carnival Splendor Passengers Robbed At Gunpoint [IN MEXICO] Back In SoCal

LONG BEACH (CBS) — Nearly two dozen passengers aboard the Carnival Splendor are back in the Southland Sunday after being robbed at gunpoint during their seven-day voyage in the Mexican Riviera.

The cruise line pulled into the Port of Long Beach around 5:30 a.m.

As they disembarked from ship, passengers talked with CBS2’s Kristine Lazar about last week’s incident.

Passenger Ladean Hilgenberg described to Lazar in detail another tourist’s account of the ordeal.

“One had a mask on hanging over his head and he said, ‘you see my automatic gun’ and a knife in his belt and he said it in Spanish. He wanted everything he had.

“One fellow pulled his money out of his wallet and he said, ‘no, I want everything… backpacks and all.’ And he raised his gun up. And they dropped everything — backpacks, everything.”

Hilgenberg, who was not robbed, said she was told the ordeal took “three minutes or less.”

Other passengers told Lazar they don’t plan to return to the Mexican Riviera by cruise and one man said he planned to cancel two future cruises.

On Thursday, 22 passengers were on a bus returning to ship after a guided nature trail excursion in Puerto Vallarta when a gang of masked assailants stopped the bus, according to Mexican media reports.

The armed robbers made off with the passengers’ valuables, including money, jewelry, cameras and passports. No one was hurt.

In a statement, Carnival called the incident “unfortunate and disturbing” and said it is working to reimburse for their lost valuables.

Meantime, CBS Travel Editor Peter Greenberg tells us this is an isolated incident. According to him, this kind of violence is normally not seen against Americans in the Mexican Riviera

Who in their right mind would be going to Mexico on vacation? It's not worth the risks.

This was orchestrated and the bus driver was probably in on it. No one will be arrested or prosecuted. Stupid Americans waking right in to a setup

This is funny.

The BlissNinny BabyBoomer Democrats head off to Me-he-co expecting to see Campesinos in sarapes strumming their guitaras leaning against the wall, Poor Pedro the Poverty Stricken Mexican happy to get a few crumbs from the Wealthy and Generous Gringos.

Pedro of course ain't like that. He's got a Kalashnikov and he intends to use it - what he can't make, he gonna take!

So hand over the dinero, Guero. Or die.

Know a guy with a surfing school who’d been going down there for DECADS —real outspoken about how SAFE it was, even when it was getting pretty dangerous.

They pulled their big van over, robbed them, then raped his GF —in front of him. And made sure she saw that he was being made to watch it.

Think he went down there EVER again?

A business pal has a time share in PV.
I warned him that it was a stupid investment.

He did it anyway.

Why must we go to internet sites such as Free Republic to find this out?

Could it be that the MSM / Google and their colleagues in crime prefer covering up any news on crime against citizens, whether it be in Mexico or elsewhere as determined by their sponsors.

Marketing has become the corrupt common denominator in our society because it makes money for the few while screwing most.

I no longer trust most aspects of our society and politics because they are corrupt, bought, and owned, and it should not be. Most of us understand ethics.

Time to put Mexico on the forbidden country list. When the Yankee tourist dollars dry up the citizenry will fix it like the Jamaicans fixed their problem back in the 80s.

He must be kin to that mayor in Amityville who said it was safe to go back in the water.

Some people excel at stupid, you might even say that they have a PHD in stupid. And as the world economy slides down the tubes (you can ignore what the MSM says, they are employees of the Food Stamp President’s re-election team), it will only get worse.

I walked into TJ (Tijuana, Mexico) a few years ago for shopping, not wanting to confront wild Mexican drivers and traffic. While in a shop a crusading Mexican reporter was filled full of holes in a car parked out front. His children were present but fortunately their lives were spared, but not their psyches.

Just go to Blog del Narco and it tells where most of the crimes are daily with graphic pictures. It is an unofficial news site due to the News reporters are killed or threatened daily by the drug gangs.

“No sympathy here. Never go to Mexico.”

Yeah, just wait a couple more years and all of Mexico will be here so there will be nothing there to cause you any harm. Here, now that’s another problem.
