Well, since that last post of mine was supposed to be a FRmail I guess I’ve answered my own question.
DOH!

A member of the 34th Infantry Regiment and a farmer by trade, Simo Häyhä became a most feared sniper during the 1939-40 (30 November 1939 14 March 1940) Winter invasion of Finland by the Soviet Union. Using nothing more than an iron sighted Mosin-Nagant Model 28, Simo is credited with killing 505 Russians during a three month period - a feat still unmatched today by any sniper in any conflict.I'm lucky to put five consecutive rounds on paper at 200 yards, with roughly the same rifle. Simo deserved his "White Death" nickname.

Looks like a Mosin-Nagant
Muzzle flash and overpenetration are some common side effects.

If I had the money I’d be buying Mosins by the crate.
A 121 year proven design, high power, and inexpensive.
You could equip your whole neighborhood for when the SHTF.

Muzzle flash and overpenetration are some common side effects. LOL! Those aren't "side effects". Those are "features"!

Oh yeah, I forgot. I’m still distracted by the shoulder bruising from last Fall.

From the old AK vs AR vs Mosin comparison...
Recoil is often used to relocate shoulders thrown out by the previous shot.

It’s perfectly acceptable to put a recoil pad on a Mosin-Nagant. (Not just for recoil, but because the short stocks were designed for Russians wearing heavy wool coats.)

It’s still better to be behind a Mosin than in front of one.

Yep, much better to be behind it than in front. After all...
You can knock down everyone else's target just from the shock wave of your bullet going downrange. LOL

Yep.
I still remember the first time I took my M91/30 out to the range. Upon my first shot, everyone, and I mean EVERYONE, on the range stopped to see who brought the cannon.

There are always other choices.
It just may be that one or more of them are not acceptable to you.
