While its standard GOP red meat to talk about corporate overtaxation, I’m glad to see Santorum speaking about the insane taxation on manufacturing.
Manufacturers effectively pay a VAT tax on all the little parts and pieces as they move through the system. Ore is taxed after its mined, the metal is taxed after its refined, a screw is taxed after its machined. This goes on all the way up to the finished product.
My only beef with Santorum is his SPECIAL treatment of manufacturing over other businesses.
ZERO CORP. TAXES on manufacturers and 17.5% corp. taxes for the rest.
Now, we’ll have businesses scrambling all over each other to make themselves “manufacturers” of something.
Why not just make ONE LOW, COMPETITIVE, FLAT CORPORATE TAX FOR ALL WITHOUT FAVORING ONE SEGMENT OVER THE OTHER?
